About Ping Pong (table tennis) Game
Ping Pong, or Table Tennis is an extremely fun and challenging game that can create hours of fun with your family. However, if you choose to buy a ping pong table, you will probably have to pay $500 or more for a regulation size table tennis table of decent quality. However, if you like DIY projects, building your own ping pong table can be a fun project.
If you decide to build your own table tennis table, you first need a good set of plans. These plans should tell you all of the tools you need, all of the supplies you need, and give you step by step directions in building your table. You may also get to choose if you want a table with fold up legs, or if you would prefer to have a more permanent table without legs.
Building your own table tennis table is a fairly easy project for an experienced wood worker. In fact, it is something that even an average skilled wood worker can easily do. But before you start your project, there are some things you need to know. A regulation ping pong table that passes the ITTF regulations must be 5 by 9. There are other plans on the internet that tell you to use a 4 by 8 piece of plywood. Avoid these plans.
So do it yourself and build your own game table today. It is a great project to complete with your son or daughter and it will bring them lots of pride knowing that they built their own table tennis table. It will also teach them that they are able to do it themselves with future things in life. After you spend time together building your new ping pong table let the fun begin.
You can have table tennis tournaments just within the family or with neighborhood kids. You can teach your kids how to put top spin on the ball to make it run when it hits the other players paddle. Or you can teach them the art of the backspin, causing their opponent to hit the ball into the net. If you have several players, you can even play around the world ping pong. You form a line on both sides and you hit the ball and drop the paddle, only to join the next line. This keeps going until everyone but two players are left and then they can play a regular game to determine the winner. We hope you enjoy your new table.
Now you can learn how to build a ping pong table with our easy to use ping pong table plans. They will walk you through step by step so you can complete your project. Indoor Table Tennis Playing Styles

As with all other kinds of sports, there are different playing styles used in indoor table tennis, or call it tactics if you will. We basically differentiate three main categories. Offender: players who will primarily use offensive strokes and try to keep the rallies as short as possible in order to score fast.
Defenders: those players are trying to ‘outlast’ their opponents by playing it save and trying to avoid unforced errors.
All-rounders: this player type uses both, offensive and defensive shots and tries to prevent his opponent to get into a rhythm by constantly mixing offensive with defensive shots.
Each playing style has its advantages and disadvantages. Typically, if someone just gets started to pick up on indoor table tennis seriously, they are being schooled for becoming an offensively oriented player. Rarely a beginner starts out right away with defending.
All three styles can be broken up further into subcategories. For example, there are a few ‘modern defenders’ out there. They basically use one side of their paddle to produce defensive shots – typically their backhand – and the other one to play very offensively.
This style requires excellent footwork and a lot of practice. To get on a master level, you need to practice everyday for several hours. Check video
Whenever an offensively oriented player matches up with a defender, you typically get to see the most spectacular table tennis rallies. The offender tries to vary his shots by using more or less spin and speed, the defender tries to chop back every ball and disrupt his opponents rhythm by mixing in offensive shots here and there. This is an excellent workout and I know what I am talking about. Back in Germany I used to play soccer on a semi professional level and I was also a decent tennis player. But indoor table tennis is by far the most strenuous sport I ever got involved in. Two hours of practice and you will sleep like a baby that night, I guarantee it. Whichever style you feel most comfortable with, it’s important that you always also practice those shots you typically don’t use as often. For example, if you like to use a lot of topspin strokes, it is crucial for you to also practice chops and pushes. Good things take time – so keep practicing. But never forget why you are playing, table-tennis is for fun.
JOOLA 2000-S Table Tennis Table with WM Net Set

You have maybe reviewed a lot of top Ping Pong Table lists by now and I do believe that on the majority if not all of them, you’ve stumbled upon the JOOLA 2000-S model. What you’ll immediately notice about it is its weight and size and weighing 214 pounds, it’s not really the lightest of the bunch. However, what is impressive about it lies its ITTF approval, so this means that you can easily use it for tournament competitions.
Construction wise, it features a twenty two millimeters thick playing surface that is covered in processed polyester. This allows for a fast, accurate and enjoyable game and also excellent ball response. The steel frame measures fifty millimeters while the powder coated steel folding undercarriage is also very well built.
Due to its design and the materials used for it, the JOOLA 2000-S is more of a good fit for aggressive players. When you’ve finished playing on it, you can easily move it from the backyard to your garage for instance by using the wheels which can be used after folding the table.
While this is a great ping pong table, there is one thing that you may not like about it and that has to do with its weight. It’s simply too massive and while this can be a disadvantage to some, it’s also an advantage at the same time.
Perfect Paddle for Indoor table tennis
There are huge differences between the various types of bats, the wood they are made of, size, weight, etc. So for table tennis, it’s exactly the same story. Let’s start with the paddle. A paddle consists of the bat (which is made of wood, or sometimes a combination of different woods and other materials). Now typically, each bat also comes with different handle shapes, such as straight, concave, etc.

Each bat has two sides and in 95% of the time, both sides are covered with a rubber. There are some players who only cover one side, because they only use one their forehand and therefore don’t need to cover the backhand. One side has to be black and the other one has to be red. There are no exceptions to this rule. The table tennis equipment suppliers provide each of their rubbers in both, red and black. Typically, each table tennis rubber has a spongy kind of layer attached underneath. That layer comes in various thicknesses. The thinker, the fast is the rubber. The rubbers differentiate from each other in tackiness and density. Both factors play an important role as you develop your game. Some players use a lot of spin on their shots; others prefer more the straight shot variations and therefore don’t need as much grip as others. There are two general categories of rubbers, the inverted ones and the pimples. The inverted ones are by far more popular. The pimples, or also called long pimples, are mostly used by players who prefer a rather defensive tactic. I’m going to talk about the different playing styles and the relation to equipment in another article.
