gotta be honest I just fundamentally don't get the concept of hatewatching. like sure I've put a dumb movie on during a get together with friends to get silly entertainment out of it. but whenever another disney live action remake or harry potter thing or whatever comes out and I have to see posts on my dash being like "boycott it! if you REALLY have to see how bad it is at least pirate it!!" I'm always like. bitch you live like this? you watch movies you know you'll hate? you take time out of your day - and you have a limited number of days on this earth - to watch a movie you'll hate, when there are so many great movies in the world that you could love? I'll never understand it.
#i can barely ever watch things that i would enjoy#cannot imagine going out of my way for something that sucks lol

Sometimes I feel old and out of touch because I don't know anything about the hot new music but then I remember even when I was a teenager I did not know the hot new music because I was an uncool little nerd and my family didn't listen to the radio. So my out of touchness is consistent and not age related.

this will obviously also apply to a small group of Rooks outside mine but. if it took longer for him to get out /things irl escalated to a more dire point, my rook would be genuinely pissed to return and find his team + solas did not put things aside and work together. possibly slightly more at the team because he expected better. they are holding a grudge while the world is ending?? solas still too obstinate and proud to admit this isn't a one man job?? not one person even tried to reach across the aisle?
he would be angry, and disappointed, and honestly upset. because he gave so much. pushed so hard. ignored sadness and grief and rage- and those closest to him couldn't manage, just once, to suck it up? yeah there's bad blood there, so fucking what; whatever it takes means whatever it takes. being willing to put your life on the line but continuing to be influenced by your feelings is frankly kind of pathetic to him.
as a Solrook Truther my rook's feelings comes from a different place in this scenario, but with that removed there would still be a level of "get over yourself and save the fucking world" directed solas' way.
is it a fair judgement? maybe, maybe not. my rook is the master at Getting Over It. that (in his view) things constantly go to shit because someone feels some kind of way and makes it everybody elses problem is a frustration. one that doesn't surface often, but you know, he's freshly from the horrible lonely torture prison, so.
#text by me#oc: sasha#tbh he would be mad in game too when he came back lol#not as much but#everybody fucking hold hands and have circle time#sasha forgives things before they even happen but this time#he feels way too raw and messed up#(also it's kind of a big uncomfortable situation generally bc he has attachment to both sides and is the monkey in the middle#so he has to work on saving the world and making his friends get along. guess which is harder.)#his ability to compartmentalize and push through is possibly a bit cracked#this was on my mind so i decided to blab about it 🤷♀️

I think the scene where everyone is dunking on Solas for not being able to magically cure the most vicious and fatal disease ever to exist in Thedas and choosing to give his companion a dignified and merciful death is especially distasteful if you have Harding there, considering there is in fact an ending in DAI where she *checks notes* mercy kills Cullen instead of letting him go on rotting away in agony as he’s consumed by the final stages of his Lyrium addiction. Just something I think about from time to time.
#f: dragon age#that memory baffles me every time i go thru it#my rook would agree with the choice?? so#solas does kill an excess amount of people but sometimes. it was for a good reason. lol.

Varric: But being a leader isn't about having all the answers yourself: It's about knowing who does.
See, this is why I really don't understand those posts whining about how Rook isn't the coolest member of the Veilguard and everyone else has much more useful skills and whatnot. Rook may not necessarily be the fastest or strongest or smartest member of the team, but what they do have is the ability to make plans, improvise when those plans go wrong, inspire their allies, earn their trust and love, encourage them to work together and put aside their differences, and use each one of them to the fullest extent of their abilities to further the team's goals. A leader doesn't have to have all the answers or be the best fighter or have the most interesting and detailed backstory (hell, you really don't want that last point for the PC of an RPG), they have to be able to lead. The best fighter or cleverest trickster in the world is useless in a position of authority if they can't use that authority effectively without alienating their allies. And Rook ultimately is able to lead, probably better than anyone else on the team could, because that's where their skillset lies. People really need to get rid of this idea that the role of The Leader automatically goes to whoever's "coolest". It's not a reward, it's an incredibly demanding job that for best results has to go to whoever is best suited to carry it out. Rook doesn't have the flashiest skills, but they do have the skills required to lead well and win loyalty, and for the leader of a team like this that is infinitely more important.
#f: dragon age#c: rook#i think when you first play and go on looking for the more obvious signs of power/coolness#yeah it could be easy to be kind of disappointed#(rook still does a ton of bad ass things though??)#if you take 2 seconds to think about the actuality of what they are doing though;#making choices. making plans. making people work together. never slipping up because everyone is looking directly at You.#you are the one that has to give everybody else hope and confidence#being able to bear that Atlas amount of weight and never buckle??#you can learn 'leadership skills' sure#but very very few people could have done what rook did#And under the circumstances they did them#rook my self sacrificing no hope for yourself because you give it away to everyone else baby#(also it's your game so you can imagine your rook as powerful and special as you want. it's free real estate etc.)

Since it's pride month I'm going to say. Can we stop making fun of adults who don't have sex. Not even particularly asexuals, just general people who don't like sex personally or don't want to have it for whatever reason. It's just not great to portray people who don't have sex as weird losers or naive little kids or whatever, even as a joke
#i AM a weird loser#but that is unrelated to me not getting laid#although on a personal level i don't care about what anyone thinks/stereotypes but it's jerk behavior

If you think about it the relationship between Bhaal and a resist!Durge is basically that Hollywood trope where the dad is like "But son! Football is your dream!" and Durge is like "No, dad. Football is YOUR dream." Except instead of football, it's genocide.

I’m really curious what are y’all’s fanfiction and fiction squicks?
I know the word has fallen from super-popular use but I think we need to revitalize it as a term (for a deep-seated distaste or turn-off from certain tropes, writing forms, character types, etc.) What makes you put down a book or close a tab so fast?
#pregnancy/babies/parenthood#in general im not interested in child characters but#anything dealing with those things is a no never absolutely not#happy trails to the ppl out there building their otps happy family life#but i am zooming past it without reading a word ever
