Small talk is essential to building interpersonal relationships. It is appropriate in any size group but especially effective between 2-10 people. It can be repetitive and boring if you don’t change up the questions. Next time you wait for someone to join your call, try one of our five favourite open-ended questions. Can you share the plans you have for your future? Why do you like the music that you do? What do you consider the best part of your day and why? What is the place you like to visit and why? Can you explain your most prized possession and why it’s important to you? The relationship between a person's intentions and actions is the "say / do gap". The say-do gap is the difficulty of reported problems or purposes needing to be followed up in an effort. The say-do gap occurs when there is a conflict between the intent and behaviour of employees as expressed in communication (Say) versus their behaviour observed in the workplace. For example, a manager intends to provide more opportunities for her staff to learn and develop new skills. However, she spends most of her time delivering instructions and supervising staff rather than providing support and resources to develop their skills. Her intentions need to be translated into action. Most people know that writing goals are a great way to track progress and stay on task, but they often hesitate to start writing because they need to know where to begin. One of the best ways to start writing goals is to create a goal planner. Goal planners are blank templates that make tracking your progress and identifying potential obstacles easy. You can use a goal planner to set short, medium, and long-term goals. If you're ready to start setting goals, try using the goal planner in the link to keep track of your progress. Doing something is always better than doing nothing! By staying away from complex tasks, you will accomplish nothing. Procrastination is often a coping mechanism to avoid danger or difficulty. While you may be afraid of facing a complex problem, it is usually best to confront it head-on. If you continue procrastinating, you will never reach your potential. Instead, when faced with a difficult situation, try breaking down the problem into smaller, more manageable tasks. This simple solution will help you conquer your fear and deal with the job more efficiently. In this age, where technology is constantly progressing, culture shifts constantly, and professional development is critical, it is not easy to stand out as a true leader. Becoming a great leader is possible if you focus on building certain traits into your personality. 🥇 Recognize and reward excellent work Everyone wants to feel appreciated and recognized for their contributions in the workplace. 💡 Create opportunities: Provide opportunities for others to grow within the company to reach their full potential and be promoted to the next level. 🚀 Provide space to grow: As a Leader, it is essential to be open and accommodating to the needs of your team. Allow them the space they need to learn and grow as individuals. 🏳️ Understand mistakes: As a Leader, it is vital to make errors as part of the learning process. Mistakes will happen, but Leaders must learn from them and use that knowledge to help improve the organization as a whole. 🎢Inspire risk-taking: As Leaders, it is our job to encourage our people to take risks that will ultimately lead to success for the organization. By promoting a culture of fear, we are not only inhibiting creativity but also holding ourselves back as individuals. ⛰️ Lead by example: Every good leader knows the importance of putting yourself out there as a model employee for others to follow. Don’t just tell your team to do something; go and do it first. 🙏 Say, “thank you”! A good leader is always quick to recognize a job well done and say thank you. A thank you is free and means so much more than you realize. 🫶 Put people over profits: Extraordinary Leaders always put their employees before themselves. Without a good team, you can do nothing to be successful as a leader, so remember that it is always about the team and never about you. It provides a clear direction and focus and allows individuals to make bold strategic choices confidently. The 5 Definitive Benefits of a Clear Agenda #1: Focus Attendee Without an agenda, it's easy for meetings to become sidetracked, and the essential items get left by the wayside. A clear plan keeps everyone on track and ensures that each agenda item gets the attention it deserves. #2: Stay on Schedule With a clearly defined agenda, you know exactly how long the meeting will last and what topics will be covered. In addition, a well-thought-out schedule allows you to plan your speaking notes and ensure that one subject does not monopolize your entire meeting. #3: Sets Expectations It's essential to communicate the purpose of the meeting to your participants, so they know ahead of time what to expect. Nobody likes walking into a meeting thinking, "Did I need to prepare something for this meeting?". #4: Prepare Participants An agenda in your invitation allows the participants to prepare. The more prepared participants feel, the more likely they will engage during the meeting. In addition, asking for Feedback ahead of time ensures essential topics are covered and creates buy-in on the agenda, so participants know that you'll cover what is important to them. #5: Increase productivity Get down to business quicker with an agenda. Then, your participants will jump into the necessary conversation and spend less time talking about last night's RuPaul's Drage Race season 50 (unless that topic's on the agenda). Personal and professional reflections are something that I do regularly. It's important to reflect on what you want and how you can make your dreams a reality. Making changes and improvements takes time and patience, but it's worth it in the end. It's also important to look at what you are doing and why you're doing it. Although reflection can be challenging, it can also be fun and if done correctly it can be highly beneficial. Take a couple of minutes and use these prompts to reflect on your goals and plan how you can achieve your goals. Pro tip: Write down these questions on paper and record whatever comes to mind. Check out our bio link for a free I want, I wish, I worry template. Remember, it is best to focus on what naturally pops into your mind rather than overthink it. In the quote above, Sir Isaac Newton refers to him having achieved his remarkable discoveries in physics by standing on the shoulders of the great scientists that came before him. We can all learn from those who have gone before us. By standing on the shoulders of giants, one can gather wisdom and knowledge from those who have been before them. There are three ways to learn from people: 1. Mentorship is essential in developing future generations. People can teach you what they've learned and help you solve many of your current problems. 2. Network with people who already have knowledge and experience. You can build better products, solve problems more efficiently and achieve better results if you surround yourself with successful people. 3. Reading the work of other people who have achieved success and remarkable accomplishments. By doing this, you will learn new things and be inspired by their work. As we work on personal and professional growth, we accumulate stress and anxiety that can hinder our ability to reach our goals. Stress can manifest in a variety of ways, from procrastination to burnout. However, when we understand how to keep ourselves moving forward in the face of these challenges, it becomes much easier to be successful at whatever we set our minds to doing. Staying motivated through the hard times is not always easy, but it is a matter of continuing to move forward in small steps, even when the path is uncertain or complex. Small steps you can take to process stress: 🚶🏿‍♀️ Walking gives your mind a break 😮‍💨 Take a moment & focus on your breath 📲 Call a friend 🎶 Listen to calming music Think of your path as a puzzle. Every unique experience you take builds on the skills you develop in the previous one. Each piece of the puzzle will help you learn more about yourself and help you prepare for the next big moment. Try to embody these traits if you're looking for a workplace that boosts morale and enhances cross-functional teams. For example, making mistakes, asking for help, and unplugging on the weekend are healthy behaviours. We are human, and the expectation of being on 24/7 is unrealistic, dangerous, and unproductive. We believe in positive leadership and teamwork to maintain a healthy work-life balance. In addition, we're always looking for ways to improve our mental health and well-being.
