About CTRLZAK

CTRLZAK is a hybrid studio that integrates diverse disciplines and cultures. Founded by artists and designers Katia Meneghini and Thanos Zakopoulos, the duo’s creations are inspired by their experiences around the globe, their own rich cultural backgrounds, and the natural world that surrounds us.

The studio creates artworks, objects and spaces but above all points of reflection where form follows meaning. CTRLZAK’s projects and extensive research into tradition and cultural context create a new hybrid future by learning continuously from the past.

Each project is a story waiting to be told, with a multitude of forms and endings. Each one experiments with diverse methods of narration where symbolism and irony go beyond aesthetics and functionality in order to make people contemplate their actions and the world that we live in.

CTRLZAK’s creations have been extensively exhibited in galleries around the world and their work has been selected by museums and institutions like MOMA, the Louvre and the Venice Art Biennale, to name a few.

Happy to announce that Chara Loka joins the Designembassador.com team for Greece, SouthEastern Europe & Middle East Chara Loka is a Policy Advisor, Blogger and Visionary Entrepreneur networking various artists|designers living in Greece and in Southeastern Europe-Middle East by promoting their work through various cultural and artistic events as well as in entrepreneurship platforms. Although she has studied Law and Policy in London, she has worked for several years in development and educational programs in developing and developed countries putting emphasis on networking and promoting women entrepreneurship in the are of the Meditteranean basin and in Asia. At the same time, she works as a project manager for the Hellenic Local Administration and has developed the cultural and artistic blog "City Box" Athens - Istanbul aiming to present the city 'in a box' as a live entity by promoting on weekly basis the various cultural and other activities in the cities of Athens and Istanbul. She represents various artists | designers in Greece and abroad and she has organised various cultural events with a philanthropic twist. Eso is the largest Annual conference in Greece for Architecture and Design, attended by more than 900 people. This conference is held at the Onassis Cultural Centre in Athens, Greece. DESIGNEMBASSADOR.COM UG is the co organizer and producer of this event.

Harbor Suites offer a contemporary and unique hospitality proposal, settled at the neighbourhood of Profitis Ilias, one of the most beautiful spots of Piraeus city. A collection of apartments that boast a special blend of urban aesthetics and contemporary design trends, while reflecting a holistic lifestyle approach through the well-being services provided.

The main scope of this project was to present the new apartments online and fully inform the visitors for all the places of interest in the surrounding area.

Cursor Design Studio produced the logo and corporate identity design for the coffee shop chain “mi Cafetal” in Greece using coffee plantation as a source of inspiration (‘cafetal’ in Spanish). The basic idea was to design the logo in a simple net shape forming a coffee plantation (cafetal) and a cup of coffee as a pictogram. Read More: http://ow.ly/ODIxl

An interview with Industrial Designer Yiannis Ghikas about the future of design in Greece and abroad. With a background encompassing Computer Science alongside Design, Yiannis Ghikas employs functionality as the ultimate purpose of his designs, while exploring their potential emotive responses. He sees design as a process of satisfying needs either tangible or intangible. His “Monarchy” stool received the Red Dot Design award in 2009 and he has worked with companies like feld (Belgium), Objekten (Belgium), miniforms (Italy), convex (Greece), the Industrial Gas Museum/Athens and Non Sasn Raison (France), while his work has been exhibited internationally.
