Fumbling around with her fingers, she glanced at him through the corner of her eyes, glad that her hair was hiding most of her face. She knew that he was playing dumb but perhaps that was the best. Raising her head, she stared at the wall on the other side of the room, nodding. “Alright..” She simply whispered while her lips moved into a crescent smile.

The blonde couldn’t hold back a small chuckle because of his comment, gently hitting his arm. “There is a lot you don’t know about me.” She mumbled, crossing her arms in front of her chest and resting them on her legs. “If you stick around for a longer time though..” Shall she really say it? Or does she really want it? Him to be around for a longer time? Mai didn’t want to get close to anyone, afraid that he could possibly leave her alone like everyone used to in he past. Yet, he had already seen her at her worst. Why shouldn’t she show herself to him at her best?

Her voice grew nervous and silent as she thought about how to finish her sentence, tugging her hair back behind her ear. “.. you could perhaps get to know another side of me. Like I said before.. we could travel together. Only if you want to though, I don’t want to push you into anything.”

She smiled softly back at him before taking out another cup out of he cabin, placing it on the counter. Pull yourself together. She told herself, unsure if it was okay for her to be this friendly. Something must be wrong with her today. The blonde never wanted to change anything about her, especially her attitude but she felt like she had to. At least around him. “You don’t have to, it’s fine.” Slowly kneeling down in front of the cabin, she took out a small pot, putting it on the stove and filling it with milk.

Mai turned around to look at him, leaning back against the counter. “Now we just have to wait for the milk to boil.” Shrugging her shoulder, she moved to sit on the counter, crossing her legs lazily. “By the way, I’m sorry about the outburst today. I wish you wouldn’t have seen me like that.” She mumbled, the events of this evening coming back to her mind. Pursing her lips, her glance fell shortly to the ground. “Can we just forget it?”

His words echoed in her head as she opened the front door, stepping inside the cozy house, turning around and leaning a bit against the door so he could walk past her. Less angry. Again, she repeated those words mentally, biting the inside of her cheek while trying not to let her smile fade. Mai had to admit that she was often loud, passive and mean but angry? Perhaps, he just categorised her as an angry woman, not knowing that she was trying to hide her feelings like that. I yelled at him a lot and I also seemed pretty mean. The blonde thought, deciding to ignore his words while she looked away from him.

As he continued to speak, her cheeks flushed in a crimson red, closing the door behind him. The woman hid her face as she led him through the small apartment towards the living room. This morning she did not even think about Valon and now he was in her apartment, talking to her like they had never separated. She tugged her hair loosely behind her ear out of an old habit, quickly letting the strand fall back into her face. “Thank you.” She mumbled quietly, gesturing for him to take a seat on the couch.

“Would you like to drink something?” The blonde asked while walking towards the kitchen which was next to her living room, pulling out a cup for herself. “I’m going to make myself a hot chocolate, it’s a bit cold in here.
