The ocean will always remind Kairi of home, of time spent with her friends dreaming of adventures far away. The ache in her heart for those days long gone is the painful price of growing up. And she and her friends have more than paid it. Sometimes she wishes she could go back in time and tell those kids to slow down, to enjoy the small moments before it all eventually goes away.
Still, there's a comfort the sea will always bring. The sound of the waves are the same in every world, and when she closes her eyes Kairi can almost believe that she's back at the islands. That soon she'll hear Sora and Riku running up behind her, inviting her into their game.
A smile graces her features at the mere thought of it. Kairi knows in her heart that the three of them will be together again. Someday soon, she's sure of it.
Perhaps it's that belief that's brought her out here today, and has her collecting sea shells. And it feels as though the universe itself is reassuring her, because there a little ways down where the shore meets the sea is a thalassa shell.
Kairi barely registers the person reaching out for the same lightly colored shell, too lost in her own enthusiasm.
She glances up at the boy, offering a polite smile. "Oh, are you su—" The words die in her throat as she takes in the familiar blue eyes that meet her own. This has happened before, she reminds herself. This isn't real.
Don't chase the dreams.
Kairi doesn't realize she's been holding her breath until Sora— or an illusion of the boy she misses, speaks once again.
She looks like someone he's trying to find, and he...he looks like a memory. A vision of her friend from what feels like a lifetime away. Don't chase the dreams. It's a futile reminder, because she can't pry her eyes away from him.
"Sora...?" Her voice sounds far away to her own ears and it feels like time has stopped. Kairi's hands have a mind of their own as she reaches out to touch his cheek, if only to make sure that this isn't some hallucination, a cruel trick of this world.
"Are you really here?"
Always On My Mind
Amber hues of light shimmered against the ocean's waves as Aevum's star set behind the sea. A trail of footprints led from the boardwalk to the waterline. As waves swash the beach, the footprints fill with sand, breaking the trail behind a boy dressed in black, red, and yellow.
His hands were in his pockets and his hood covered his face as he stared at the sand, glancing over shells and sea glass, picking up a few he finds to his liking.
Sora couldn't help but be lost in thought. One moment he was at the "World That Never Was". The next, he was stepping out of a tower that led him here. A new world with new faces. No Donald or Goofy, no Riku or Kairi. Is he ever going to complete his journey? Will he ever make it home?
Sora walked a few more steps. His feet continuing to splash in the water and sink gently in the sand until he finds a thalassa shell. But as he's about to reach for it, he notices a small hand reaching for it too. He glances up and lets out an ever so gentle smile.
"You go ahead, sorry. I already have plenty of other shells in my pocke-"
Deep blue eyes widen as he stares at this girl for what feels like an eternity. He then shakes his head and looks away toward the water. Sorry, you look like someone I'm trying to find. Didn't mean to weird you out." The boy muttered with an awkward giggle.

Objectively speaking, Kairi should look the other way and continue on with her day. Heck, she should maybe be waving over the members of the town's Adventurer's Guild and let them know she's found their culprit.
Not that the man standing in front of her has confessed to anything, but the evidence is piling up against him; a large bang that one can only assume to be an explosion of some kind, people running about, and his own defensiveness about this entire situation when she hasn't even gotten a single word out yet.
And maybe it's the way he carries himself, the cadence of his speech, that reminds Kairi of her sparring partner. It softens her to him just a bit. "I don't think you'd believe how much I would."
With a quick glance towards the guild Kairi tugs at the man's coat. "C'mon, if we go this way they'll lose your trail!"
「𝔟𝔞𝔫𝔤 𝔟𝔞𝔫𝔤!」- "I could explain but you probably wouldn't believe me. Besides, there's no time. ...Anyways, don't sweat all the tiny details!"
@destinysoath || for a small dialogue starter

It's the third day that Kairi's made her way back towards the area surrounding the tower, her third day trying to understand the strange land she's found herself in. Upon arrival, her immediate thought had been that Xehanort had pulled her back into slumber but things don't work the same way they had in the dreams.
She doesn't work the same.
She can't even call upon her keyblade, although if this were Xehanort's doing then taking her abilities would make sense.
Still. She'd been left with nothing but house keys, a device almost like her Gummiphone, and a peculiar flower. Any question she may have had for the strange figure who handed her these items died the second the mysterious presence disappeared.
So that leaves her to her own devices and coming back to the tower, surveilling those coming and going, seemed like the perfect next step.
"When you're in my arms, I hold you so tight. Can't let go, no, no, not tonight~"
The sudden music catches her off guard. For a moment, it's almost like she's transfixed in the catchy tune as her eyes search for it's source. It's when her gaze lands on the boy holding the phone that she's pulled out of her trance.
The patterns that run up and down his body send a chill down her spine, it's a feeling so familiar that she instinctively calls for her keyblade that will not appear.
"C'mon!" Her brows furrow as she scans her surroundings. Even without the convenience of the keyblade, Kairi's never needed a weapon to fight.
There's a rock to her left that she flings the boy's way, aiming for the phone and hoping it'll hit.
"Hey! Whatever it is you think you're doing, I promise it won't work on me. Who are you?"
He'd done his wandering and poking around for the time being, at least for now. The city was huge, far too much to explore in one day, and frankly he didn't want to keep looking around when he might miss the appearance of one of the other Saja Boys.
If he was here, surely they would appear at some point, right?
So he'd gone back to the garden around the weird crystal tower, finding a tree with a nice low branch to lay on where he could also see the tower. All he had to do was lay there and watch, listen for one of the boys to appear.
To pass the time, he played with his phone, poking around with the device. Baby liked to play games with his, maybe there were some there he could play too? Or music?
Music was more appealing, so he looked there first and low and behold, all of Huntr/x and the Saja Boys music was right there. Mystery blinked, a little dumbfounded, and immediately put their songs on repeat. If that didn't attract the attention he was looking for, he didn't know what would.
Granted, he wasn't counting on himself attracting attention he definitely wasn't looking for.
@destinysoath
