Neva Odindotir, oh how you are more like your birthparents than you'd ever like to admit. Taking on the role her birth mother Skađi used to have, Goddess of Winter and the Hunt, after she passed away not too long after having given birth to the half giantess. Neva never heard much about her mother, she never even fully considered Skađi to be her mom since Frigg raised her for most of her life. Its only when she grows older she starts to look more and more like the woman who gave birth to her, that Odin can no longer deny that she truly is a child of Skađi.

got tagged by the lovely @kyberinfinitygems and decided to use this as an opportunity to soft launch my girl nana!! it's still a bit inconsistent as i get her character and plotline down, which is why i haven't properly introduced her, but i couldn't not think of her when talking oc parentage. lovechild of the two most insane people to ever love each other this much. you look at her and go damn with parents like these how did you end up normal? and up close realize oh she's NOT fucking normal.

"parents like these" is /pos by the way they loved each other and her so so much and were such a loving family they're just. them. and nana has some emotional issues. but who doesn't.

she's actually supposed to be a more relevant mcu oc by herself, for the rest of the mcu chronology since the 105 is during wwii, but i haven't been able to really match her up with a movie/plot/event in time yet.

My streak of not having written anything new is still going on, and it's also not Friday anymore, but here's another snippet of The Call since I'd love to finish it, seeing that I originally didn't intend for it to take this long to get written down. Life happens to get in the way, so have this:

The journey to this travesty had robbed both dragons of their vigor, and despite the nightly winds invading the open space of the arena, there was no spark of energy left to find a shelter providing safety and secrecy from whichever beings lurked behind the shrouds of fog. Aerea tried not to let the claws of fear get a hold of her, for she was accompanied by the Black Dread, but she crawled closer, nestling to the smoldering inner side of the creature's belly. The comfort of sleep had never clung to Aerea's heels this much, dragging her to the ground, but it felt right. The exciting dance of adventure left the flame hungering for a moment of calm. Her vision darkened around the edges, sleep rolling over her. But as her gaze drifted from the ascending plateaus to the darkening sky, a warm glowing silhouette peeked through the shadowing veil. Glowing eyes fixated on her, Aerea felt a burning sensation overcoming her, urging her to flee. The girl couldn't let her primal instincts screaming for survival take over, for the need to connect with the realm of rest was stronger, and the gods would protect her. Though would their godly powers breach through the veils of evil in this forsaken place?

HIII OK HERE WE GO

something interesting about ernestine, to me, is that if i'm not mistaken it's the first oc i'm developing here on tumblr (as opposed to pre-existing or otherwise privately created ocs i'm introducing and writing about here). so it's a live insight into my creative process, which is spitballing:

some backstory details (which might even help me shape her currently): she certainly graduated with honors from college and grad school in computer science, got several academic accolades and scholarships and grants and well-regarded projects, to be in such an inner circle of a massive tech company. very much a golden girl, academic prodigy, sharp as a tack, smartest in the room type of person.

i'm debating on whether making her from metropolis, another place in the us, or maybe not even the us at all — something that i just thought about and might even complicate the plot, in a good way. maybe if she's from a foreign country — probably australian, like the actress herself — her ties to the job are even stronger because that's the corporation sponsoring her visa, she can't just leave! so post-movie girlie would have to find another job, but that's future me's problem.

i actually really like this plot for my ocs — verônica's backstory inciting incident is also visa troubles, blame my international student fears —, and the only hesitation towards it is because i don't know anything about writing an australian character. i can research, of course, so for now it's a strong possibility.

i'm gonna ramble a bit on the development of my still in progress superman 2025 oc! yapping helps me get things down about characters.

her name is ernestine shekher, faceclaim is geraldine viswanathan, specifically in thunderbolts. she works at luthorcorp and is a part of the control room tech team. currently no love interest, i'm gonna feel where the plot is gonna lead me.

i'm still having a hard time nailing down her full personality and plotline throughout the movie; the general vibe is "yeah my desk job is killing superman" but i don't want her to be just evil. she is not particularly politically invested in lex's agenda, it's just a job that she really fucking needs/wants, so either a moral crisis or a sense of self preservation lead her to dip. i also don't think she's fully switching sides/helping the superman crew for the moment, just leaving, but if future superman/dcu installments inspire me to go there i'm not opposed to it.

i guess the main thing i'm struggling with is her morality; at first i thought of the "i thought this job was doing good", that also happens with mel in thunderbolts, but i don't really think she believes in the job either. she might be just ignoring the moral implications of it until it explodes in her face and forces her to make a decision.

still wip, but if anyone has any thoughts, i'm always down to talk it through and figure it out by spitballing with other people!!
