good morning I had a dream where there was a weird live action version of case closed and afterwards my boss gave a test on it that was multiple pages long. it was about a murder case over someone with a special lapis lazuli necklace, but the fbi was involved and haibara was an fbi agent and had an fbi badge and stuff. i was riffing on it but I can't remember what about. then i posted on tumblr about it naturally...

Personal redraw challenge - Aquarium case

I really wanted to redraw a scene from the aquarium case because some of the Shinran frames in that episode were just not it.

I actually finished this one months ago but ended up never posting it because I wasn’t satisfied with the colors. I had decided to go for more traditional colors, outfits, and the simplicity that came with hand drawn tv shows. And I do think it looks good, but I feel that overall, it clashes with the fish in the background :p

I had a dream last night where there was a new dc movie and it was a live action movie and I was going to see it at the moment it was released in this little classroom sized theater. it started and my first thought was that the kid who was playing conan was accurate to him and good at acting. but then like 5 seconds in I was already in the movie myself as a sort of background character foreigner. ran and conan and someone else were all there. but then we were at this weird competition where they were making harry potter themed food or something and cone was participating and said he was a huge fan of the books. (no thanks bro...) he lost to someone who made a chinese dragon scene out of food. then we were all in line for a buffet and I was getting confused/lost about how to do it and I dropped a plastic fork, and then I had to go to the bathroom and wash my hands but then I blew my nose and I had to wash my hands again and i was saying stuff out loud to explain what I was doing, and i just kept being infallibly awkward in front of conan and ran and everyone. I was trying to act inconspicuous but this was clearly difficult. then there was this kid in line hiding these veinlike scars all up his arms who was going to blackmail shinichi to change his test grades, and then a spark came out of his scars and somehow he turned everyone invisible but different parts of people and so everyone had to wait on the bleachers until they were fully visible again to do anything. people started noticing an array of weird magical creatures also sitting on the bleachers. it turned out that the magic tree at the core of the ship was dying and the ship started sinking because they had to ballast the outer core of the ship, and ran said that's what they used to do with ships when they ran out of fresh water (?), so we had to get outside. it turned into a maze of iron bars as if it were an oil rig, and the detective boys were there and shinichi was yelling at them because they couldn't hold on to the obliquely angled and not-designed-for-being-graspable struts properly and I thought that was kind of unfair but everyone got up to the top without needing to get anyone who fell off of the rig. and then it turned into this grassy area where there were pokemon to catch and I was trying to catch a shellos but it didn't work and then I was playing fetch with a basset hound. and then there was a montage of shinichi as himself doing a bunch of normal stuff (including changing the grades of the kid with powers), and he saw in the newspaper or something that shiho had graduated high school and sera was there to congratulate her but she was 4 years younger i.e. a freshman, so I guess that was all happening in the past or something before the events of the series. then I was trying to sing a dragon ball z song in a karaoke booth at the behest of someone but didn't know any of the lyrics so i was just going along with the screen. did you have fun?

i had a dream last night where there was a new case of dc where they were invited to a pool party and the Beatles were going to be there but somehow cone in all his knowledge had never heard of them. he wanted to go as shinichi and conan, so he was trying to invent clothing fibers that would shrink back with him so he wouldn't have to get changed but this was a wip.

Then the party happened at this school looking building but with a nice outdoor pool area and no one noticed anything with shinichi/cone until after it was over and they were leaving. ran noticed that cone had like a ponytail of hair he was trying to hide inside his shirt and there were these micro sd card chips in bags tied to the end of his hair. and this somehow proved that he was shinichi. so she confronted him outside the building. then some side stuff happened where it was aoko’s 20th birthday (?) and she was dressed as kaitou kid, and a different story thread where kogoro was masquerading as a relative that he resembled uncannily. Then there was an ace attorney style game version of this case with voice acting. AND then there was a crossover with pokemon and a big thing with jessie and james. this was really exciting to me. lol

so i heard some hearsay that some show out there has RIPPED OFF alfalfa. its a dumb mystery thing with a really weird premise that has to do with teenagers becoming little kids, but thats besides the point.

obviously someone figured out that alfalfas signature cowlick and blue suit with red bow tie was very, very marketable. so marketable, in fact, that they added like five more cowlicks to this kid. they even have a dog mascot just like pete. who even is this ‘conan’ kid? why the frick would you name your kid after arthur conan doyle? this is some weird japanese stuff, thats for sure. japan is a really weird place. this show apparently started like a decade after the hanna-barbera show, which must have given those tv executives ample time to make enough differences from little rascals for it to pass as 'original’

anyway 'detective conan’ is definitely not as cool as alfalfa. they didnt even get a crossover with richie rich. ha, take that, you poorly designed 'original’ show. next time 'conan’ needs a $1 billion loan, who’s HE going to go to?

okay so i did some more digging through detective conan’s wiki. this is the most bizarre stuff i’ve seen since dragon ball gt. where do these people come up with this stuff? its starting to make me a little suspicious of some cleverer members of the little rascals crew. one of them might be some geezer with a magic age pill or something. spooky (place your bets: which ones a teenager?)

apparently ALSO!! they have the comic book time thing like with any series but its been for like 20 years and people act like the plot is slow

let me remind you, pals, that alfalfa as a character was first introduced in the mgm our gang shorts in 1935. alfalfa has about 60 years on conan. (he also has 3 years on superman)

alfalfas character is 79 years in the making and hes still showing up now the exact same age. a legacy of history indeed…….

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! Your idea was so cute, I just had to draw it! Unfortunately, I'm swamped with exams (uni is kicking my butt), so this is a wip for now, but I'll probably finish it up and post a colored version soon (along with some other assorted sketches!)

I'll tag you when it's posted (since it is your idea I'm drawing!)
