okay but like i just want a fic where autistic selective mute bruce wayne is a year or two younger than ollie, but was in his classes anyways because he is SMART and so they like grew up together, ollie loves him like his little brother, you know, the usual.
and then, when the justice league is formed (i put both of them in their mid twenties ish, like maybe ollie is 26 and bruce is 24) and ollie just like instinctively recognizes that batman is sorta like his baby brother and like subtly helps him and the league communicate until one day he’s just like hm maybe i should have a conversation with the big scary bat. and i’d imagine it went something like this:
ollie waited for the meeting to end to bring it up, hoping this conversation won’t go too wrong.
“hey, b-man! can we chat in private real quick?” he asks, as the other leaguers are filing out of the room, already having their own conversations.
superman shoots him a strange look, but ollie doesn’t really care about that right now.
batman looks a little constipated, honestly, but oliver knows its most likely not because he is disinterested in having a conversation with him, but more likely because of the abruptness of the request.
he waits patiently, bouncing around on his toes. its a habit he picked up from bruce’s stimming. the kid just always looks so peaceful doing it, and ollie doing it right alongside him usually seemed to make him smile.
batman grunted and turned away, to which oliver smiled and followed him to one of the lead lined rooms built specifically for private conversations.
it’s little things like that, that have convinced ollie even further that the batman doesn’t have any ill intentions towards the league. he’s the only one that thought of creating a safe place for emotions and secrets, even in the workplace.
ollie closed the door behind himself, turning to face an awkwardly still batman. but that’s okay, brucie does that, too, when he is unsure of where he stands.
“i just wanted to talk to you about some of the miscommunication present between some of the leaguers. this isn’t my place, and feel free to punch me if you’d like, but i’ve noticed a few similarities in your and my brother’s behavior, and people don’t always take the time to understand him and the way he communicates, and i think the same is happening here.” as he talks, ollie notices the slightly tense line of the bat’s shoulders, the barely-there clench of his hands, the subtle shifts on the balls of his feet, and further adds to the theory he has landed on.
“some of the leaguers seem to think you’re always upset with them, and-“
“why would they think that? i haven’t said anything.” batman speaks for the first time, the cowl scrunching sightly where the man’s eyebrows are under the thick kevlar.
ollie holds back a small smile, mentally reminding himself to go see his little brother soon.
“i know, and i’ve told them that if you were upset with them then you would tell them, but like i said, a lot of people don’t try to understand anyone who think differently than them.” its something he has told bruce many times, and probably will again. “i wanted to propose-“
“oliver?” and this time it isn’t exactly batman’s growl that interrupts him, and that’s what brings oliver’s head shooting up.
the league hadn’t been together but for half a year or so, no one had said anything about identities, and that was that.
ollie’s first instinct is to be mad, angry that batman had found out his identity and seemed to be informing him that he knew.
but then, before he could say another word, batman was reaching for his own cowl, and soon enough, oliver stood facing his little brother.
bruce’s eyes were wide, his cheeks slightly red from where the kevlar had pressed against it. his hair was a mess that alfred absolutely would not approve of, and his little brother was standing in front of him, bat insignia proudly marked on his chest.
he blinked a few times, processing what he was seeing, before-
“brucie?? what the hell man, i-“
“are you mad?” his voice was soft, confused, and his head tilted just a bit. his hands clenching and his feet shifting just a little more.
oliver breathed, in and out, before realizing no, he’s not mad.
“no, bruce, just surprised is all. but really, i shouldn’t be. god, you never grew out of that bat phase, did you?” and now he was smiling, stepping towards his brother and clapping a hand on his shoulder, beaming when the younger shoots a small, relieved smile back in his direction.
it lasts only a moment, before the furrow is back between his brows.
“who thinks i’m mad at them?” that soft, confused voice is back, and ollie wants to punch his friends for putting that face on his brother.
“just lantern and flash, mostly. i’ve tried to explain to them that you aren’t being dismissive or rude, but they don’t seem to believe me. i wanted your permission to talk with them, and maybe some others if you’re okay with that, more in depth about how you are a founding member of this team, and they need to be the ones to do the work in learning that you are communicating, they just aren’t trying to understand.”
oliver is still slightly boggled at the sight of his brother standing in front of him, brows furrowed and hand gently rubbing his chin as he thinks, the batman cowl hanging down over the back of his neck, but delights in the fact that he gets to share something this big, this deep with his brother in all but blood.
“if you think they’ll listen better than the kids at boarding school did, then i suppose we can try.” bruce’s words bring him back to the present, and ollie smiles and smacks a kiss to the younger’s cheek.
“we’ll meet up for lunch later this week or early next week to chat about what details you’re willing to bring up at the next meeting, yeah? haven’t seen alfred or the kids in a bit.” and bruce just gives him that small smile again, and oliver is overjoyed at the thought of seeing this part of his brother, and sharing his own secrets with him.

Scott's remixing his Greatest Hits, what do we think
Original from last year VVV :]
I've been bummin' a bit about my art, going through a bit of a rut worrying that I'm not improving. So I've decided to redraw some of my older drawings from when I started posting to see where I've improved :]

I can't explain it, but Batman needs to be mythologized. In Gotham, that is.
Logically, they know he's just a man, made of skin and bones and blood, like all of them. Those who met him, who had the ill luck to, say he feels like the city itself.
When danger approaches, with the click of a gun or hiss of a knife, it’s not the police people pray to. There's a single name that rivals Gotham‘s, and it’s not them.
So much so, there's whispers of what might happen, about guidelines being stepped. Kinda like how if you're compared to Aphrodite, you might die.
Such as:
If you see a wounded bird, of any kind, take it to a vet, or nurture it back to health. You’ll get robbed otherwise.
Don't wear pearls. Just don't.
Never let your son walk alone at night. Never lay your hands on them, either. The Bat doesn't take kindly to it.

Harvey Dent, for the head canon game?
Hello Anon! Thank you very much for indulging me ✨ Ahhhh Gotham's handsomest District Attorney~ I have so many but I'll pick a few basic ones to get us started! Headcanon 1: Realistic I think that Harvey should have been Bruce's greatest enemy and foil in the Batverse. While that spot has gone to Gotham's resident Clown I personally believe that's because of convenience. Because the Joker has no backstory, canon personality, and unclear motives people can have him do relatively anything and justify him however they'd like. Harvey however is a challenging character to tackle. He and Bruce have close ties, the character is extremely smart in his field of choice, and his M/Os are usually quite strict. Let alone how the media mishandles characters facing DID or other life altering illnesses. However given what we already have of Harvey, he should have been the one. The headliner. He and Bruce were going to fix Gotham together and his falling out shows the true tragedy of a Gotham that can never be "saved". Even with all of the hope in the world, something will always thwart good. Internally or externally. While Bruce took his time away to train and become better, healing over time and choosing hope, Harvey couldn't. While we don't know much of his healing process, we know that they can be volatile or self-sabotaging even when things are going quite well all things considered. Bruce does the same (subconciously or not) but he always gets back up. Harvey seems like he wallows in the darkness for longer only getting up after a long time down.
Headcanon 2: May or not be realistic, is definitely funny (at least to me) Harv and Harvey at first were not co-concious with each other. So I like to think that in the early days Harv would take his time to enjoy the luxuries of life that he had been denied for so long. Harvey drinks straight black coffee, well fuck that! Harv gets the largest sugariest tooth rotting coffee he can find in the city. Harvey has a few basic suits, well that needs changing. Harv was the one to go custom bespoke suits of every pattern and color he could get. (That one I don't think Harvey minds. Expensive suits are very comfortable after all.) While it may not be canon, once they become co-conscious and disagree they, of course, flip on it. No point in arguing over coffee when the coin could shut them both up. If they mutually agree, no coin is necessary.
Headcanon 3: Evil and heart-breaking why would you do this
Headcanon 4: Doesn't align with canon (or maybe even reality) but I do what I want Counting this for Headcanons 3 and 4!
Harvey and Bruce's longstanding joined-at-the-hip friendship and definitely not situationship was formally over once Harvey got engaged to Gilda. While Bruce and Harvey still talked over Gotham and business, Bruce kept him at arms length. Knowing now that Harvey had a family, he didn't want to force himself into a happy couple's new life. As soon as Harvey got hurt however, he knew he needed to be there. After all that they had been through, and even with how much Bruce had supported Harvey, I think Harvey would still be hesitant to reach out and reconnect. Seeing as he can be swept up in crime quite quickly. Once Harvey got the invitation from Bruce that he and Selina were getting married, he knew that on principle he had to go. Bruce had been there for his wedding after all. Talking himself up, making sure that he wouldn't fuck up such a nice party, only to realize that Selina wasn't showing. Bruce practically breaking down at the loss. Their history be damned, after everything Bruce had helped him through Harvey was going to be there for him. It's the least he could do to repay his best friend.

I was asked by a friend yesterday if I could offer basic tips about comic paneling. As it turns out, I have a lot to say on the matter! I tried breaking down the art of paneling using the principles of art and design, and I hope it helps you out!
EDIT: uh uh there are a lot of people reblogging this, so i figure i may as well append this now while i can lol
This whole thing was very much cranked out in a few hours so I had a visual to talk about with a friend! If this gives you a base understanding of paneling, that's awesome! Continue to pull in studies from the comics you see and what other artists do well and don't do well! You can tell paneling is doing well when the action is flowing around in its intended reading format.
Here's the link to the globalcomix article from which I pulled the images about panel staggering! Someone sent in a reblog that it wasn't totally clear that the 7th slide mostly covers what NOT to do in regards to staggering, and that is my mistake!
I saw in a tag that someone was surprised I used MamaYuyu too, and I don't blame them lol. If I had given myself more than a couple hours maybe I would have added something else on, I just really admire MamaYuyu's paneling personally.
uh uh, final append: I am by no means a renowned master of paneling, so if you find anything off base here, by all means, counter it with your own knowledge and ways you can build upon from here! Art is always a sum knowledge of everything we find. 💪

Just a reminder that you can and should write the rogues however you want.
You don’t like the stories where Jervis Tetch acts like pedophile? Neither do I! Just pretend they don’t exist and write your own stories! Make him a better villain than DC ever could!
You want Ivy to be bi instead of lesbian because you’re also bi and you want to relate to your favorite character? Go for it! You’re not “erasing” anything, no matter who tells you otherwise! You DESERVE to see yourself as your favorites.
You despise the New52 comics in which Scarecrow harms children despite being abused as a child? Write your own comics and fanfic where he doesn’t, let him be kind to children if that sparks your fancy! Nothing is “Out of Chracter” in comics!
You want Harvey Dent to be friends with Bruce Wayne even after becoming a villain? So do I! They should be friends anyway! You can and should write it!
Don’t let people police you into staying in one lane and don’t let others negativity affect you. They can hate all they want, but it won’t stop you from writing these characters how you see fit.
