Brian nodded, not responding because of his focus on the vase. He slowly worked to make it thinner towards the top, grunting whne he made a miniscule mistake but getting back to it. “Hm, I think I’m done,” he finally said, leaning his head on Dev’s shoulder as it stopped spinning. “I think your cup is neat, by the way. Or mug. IT’s going to become a mug and that’s whats important. I think my vase is… nice. I just wish that I could paint it or design it right now.” Wiping his hands on the smock, Brian went to take it to the oven, briefly chatting with the instructor who praised his work.
“I like your vase.” He said, before Brian got up. Dev pulled out his phone and looked at the time and shot a quick text to a friends of his, making sure that the next part of their date was going as planned. He quickly put his phone away and looked towards his date. He was happy that he was finally on a date with Brian. The other was such a sweetheart, almost the opposite of Dev. but Dev was drawn to that. I liked that he always told him not to curse and that he made gift baskets. “Hey, are you hungry?”

Brian smiled as he settled on a type of clay, starting on the wheel as he pursed his lips in intense focus. “Hmm, does my vase look good?” he asked, his vase starting to form the shape. “I think you should still go for the mug! Keep trying on the mug. Only move onto bowl if the mug sucks really, really hard.” He giggled at the joke.
Dev smiled and tried to get his clay to form a mug. “Hey! Look, it’s a cup!” He chuckled. “Now, how do I put a handle on it?” He took the clay off the wheel and held it up. “Maybe, I can like make a handle and stick it on there?” He got up and walked over to the instructor, trying to figure out about the handle issue, before going back over to Brian. “He’ll put a handle on it for me. Then, when you’re done, we’ll put them in the giant oven thing. He said, they will have to cool and stuff. So, we’ll have to come back and get them another day.”

Brian tpyed out ‘cutest date ever’ just as Dev was saying it, grinning as he posted the picture to his various followers. “Done and done,” he added, before taking another selfie for Snapchat followed by a video. Focusing on the instructor now, Brian shrugged. “Maybe just a basic vase or something. I don’t really have the art of pottery mastered.”
Dev smiled at Brian, admiring just how cute he was. “I want to make a mug. I want to make it for my grandma. I’ll probably send it off to her, since I won’t be visiting Chicago anytime soon.” He said, as the instructor went on and on about types of clay. Finally, he gave them permission to get started on their pieces. Dev got his pottery wheel going and tried to work his clay into a mug shape. “I suck at this. Maybe I should settle for a bowl. Would that be easier?”

Brian eagerly took a seat towards the front of the classroom, patting the chair next to him for Dev. “It seems cool! MY grandma was very crafty too. She knitted stuff a lot, and liked to make crafts with the old church ladies. I went with her sometimes when my brothers were being mean.” He smiled as the lesson began and he began to toy with the dry clay after throwing on his apron. “Thanks folr this Dev. We have to take a selfie,” Brian insisted, holding up his phone.
Dev took the seat next to Brian and nodded. “You’re welcome. I wanted to do something that we would both remember. “Of course, we have to take a selfie.” He teased, as he leaned in and pressed a kiss to Brian’s cheek, for the picture. “You should tag me in it and then say that I am the cutest date ever.” He smiled and looked towards the instructor, trying to pay attention to the quick lesson. “What are you going to make?”

“Shh, stop worrying,” Brian insisted, pinching Dev on the cheeks and walking towards the classroom. “This is cool! I’ve never done this before,a nd it’s like - intearctive. We can both do it. Do you get to paint your pottery too?” Brian inquired, quickly gripping Dev’s hand as they walked into the classroom. “Oh, I like how this looks. Hopefully we can make like a cute vase or something.”
Dev blushed and moved his face away from Brian’s pinching fingers. “Yeah, it reminded me of us making the gift baskets and I thought that maybe this could be fun too and I’ll even try this time.” He let Brian drag him inside and then he led them to a work station. “I’m actually pretty excited about this. My grandma used to make her own pots and stuff. When I was younger, i never wanted to join her because I thought it was lame, but looking back on it, it was kinda cool to be able to make your own dishes and stuff. She said it was a stress reliever too.”

Brian looked at him and smiled, unable to find the word to say exactly how Dev looked - irresistible seemed a little too thirsty, and good didn’t do him justice. “You look like a model,” Brian then said, mentally noting that it was probably the dumbest thing to say. “Ooh, what’s the first part?” he asked, only to see the building that they were parked in front of and his eyes lit up. “Ooh, pottery. Nope, never, but I always wanted to try.” He immediately thought to the pottery scene in Ghost, but flashed another smile at Dev. “I won’t get dirty, right? Do they give smocks or something?”
“Thank you.” Dev got out and opened the door for Brian, wanting to be a complete gentleman. “I think they’ll give us stuff to make sure that we don get clay all over our clothes. At least, I hope that they will.” Dev held out his hand for Brian to take and looked at his watch. “The class starts in two minutes. We got her just in time.” Dev was nervous. He’d never gone out on a date with someone that he was actually interested in. “This is good, right? You don’t think it’s too cheesy, right?”

Brian, of course, was extremely nervous because he was going on a date with a guy that he liked, and clearly that was cause for a breakdown. He flipped through a few pairs of shirts and shorts before deciding on a pair salmon khaki pants and a blue button up top, making sure to comb his hair. Still not satisfied after Dev had texted him, he responded ‘on my way’ only to continue combing his hair for another five minutes. Finally he was satisfied and grabbed his phone and keys and darted out of the housing towards Dev’s car. “Hi!” he greeted, sliding into the passenger seat.
Dev nodded his head to the radio, as he waited for Brian. Once he saw Brian slide into the passenger seat he smiled over at him, before leaning over and kissing his cheek. “Hey, to you too.” He took a glance at his appearance and smiled, turning forward and pulling off. “You look nice.” He complimented. Dev was dressed in a pair of fitted dark wash jeans and a white t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up. “So, sorry, if I’m speeding just a bit. We’re almost late for the first part of the date.” He said, as he continued to drive down the street. Finally, he reached their destination. “I know that you like crafts. So, I thought that we could do something crafty.” He told him, as he parked outside Creative Claythings. “Have you ever done pottery?”

Dev knew that he had a reputation for being a massive flirt. He wanted to prove to Brian that he could do better, for him. Dev had a crush on him, ever since they’d been paired together for a project, the prior year. This whole night had been planned very quickly and he hoped that everything would go as planned. He pulled up in front of Brian’s dorm and sent him a text to let him know that he was outside. They had thirty minutes to get to the first part of their date. He knew that Brian was a lover of crafts and he hoped that he would like what he’d planned for him.

Yes, I'll be a gentleman. [pecks his forehead]
If you want pie, there will be pie. [wraps an arm around him] I promise that I won’t even curse either. I’ll be on my best behavior.

You know what I mean. [smiles] great. I’ll plan it out and all you’ll have to do is show up being your cute self. Are you free tomorrow night?

No, I can be a little shit. I don’t blame you for freaking out on me. [kisses his forehead] so, would you like to go on a real date with me? I mean, not chipotle or the movies. Somewhere nicer?
