A three-day Teacher Training Workshop organized at DSVV

The quality of an educational institution largely depends on the quality of its teachers, and the quality of teachers is improved through rigorous training. With this objective in mind, a three-day Teacher Training Workshop was organised in the Dev Sanskriti Dishwavidyalaya from 28th June to 30th June. The workshop was jointly inaugurated by the Ex-Professor of NIIT, Prof. Piyush Verma, and the Pro-Vice Chancellor of DSVV, Dr. Chinmay Pandya. Several Formulae for better learning techniques were delivered during the workshop. The main theme of the workshop "Education" can become an effective tool for institutional and social change if the teachers become enlightened and aware, who teach students according to their level and requirement and bring forth their best talents, which in turn promises a continuous positive growth of the society. During the workshop, Prof. Piyush Verma, threw light on curriculum framing, evaluation methodology, course outlining, meaningful participation of students, quality of ideal teachers in twenty first century, use of action research in daily classes, use of media and techniques in teaching, and various other topics. In parallel with the theoretical subjects training, practical training was also carried out, where video trainings were framed. The success evaluation of the workshop was conducted with the help of pre and post examination, the results of which were quite encouraging. During the concluding session, Dr. Sukhnandan Singh presented a report of the entire workshop. Addressing the program, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, said that there is a great need to enhance quality in education in present times. He said that the development of nation is only possible when the quality of education is raised. The progress of the University in the past 17 years has been commendable, but it is necessary to make it more intense, so that an army of civilized and well educated citizens is developed who ,in turn, become a conductor of positive change through "Thought Revolution" not only in the nation but in the entire world. The Pro-Vice Chancellor congratulated Prof. Piyush Verma and the teachers of the University for the success of the workshop. He assured of organizing such workshops regularly in the near future. Dr. Pandya gave away certificates to all the teachers and honored Prof. Piyush Verma with a memento and a Manta chaadar. Dr. Smita Vashistha, the Deputy Registrar, Dr. Umakant Indoliya, the Head of the Department of Tourism Management, Dr. Santosh Kumar Vishwakarma, the Head of the Department of Psychology and Dr. Vandana Singh played an important role in the coordination and management of the workshop. Participation in the National Seminar at Graphics Era University

The Department of Tourism Management of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya performed well in the National Seminar held at Graphic Era University. The Department also played an important role in the organization of the seminar. Various research papers were presented on the topic “Digital Technology for Tourism Transformation and Trends”. The Heads of the Department, Dr. Arunesh Parashar and Dr. Umakant Indolia, chaired various sessions during the subject of the session - Tourism and Technology. Both of them were also honored for contributing to the field of Tourism. Various students and respected members from different states of the nation participated in the seminar. The main focus of their ideas was technology and hospitality. Students studying in MBA and BBA of the Tourism Department of the University presented papers on the subjects like Techno-Tourism, Techno Economic Tourism, Techno Tourism Sustainability, Hospitality and Techno Sustainability. In all the presentations, Prachi Sharma from MBA course and Devavrata Pathak and Shivam from B.B.A. course were judged as the best paper presenters of the seminar. Important roles were played in the seminar by Dr. Avanendu Pandey, Shri Prakar Singh Pal, Shri Ajay Bhardwaj, Shri Prasoon Kumar and others from the Tourism Department of the University. Special Honor awarded in the Republic Day Parade and National Youth Parliament

Two students from the Garhwal Mandal were selected for the Main Republic Day Parade held at Delhi. Ku. Tanya Kanwal of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya was one of them who received training for the parade from 1st to 25th of January. Finally she participated in the Main Republic Day Parade on 26th of January and uplifted the honor of the University. According to the student, it was necessary for the participants to practice regularly for 6-7 hours. During evening hours, the participants of all the states were required to demonstrate special cultural activities from their respective states. The Honorable Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pranav Pandya, congratulated Tanya for making the University proud. According to Hon. Chancellor, the participation of DSVV in the Republic Day Parade consecutively for the 7th year is a moment of great pride not only for the University but also for the Uttarakhand state. Dr. Chinmay Pandya, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, also congratulated Tanya. He said that it is only through strict discipline and patience that a person earns such a great achievement. The program was coordinated by Dr. Arunesh Parashar. Dr. Parashar also played an important role in National Youth Parliament by coordinating programs held at district and state levels. He was awarded with an honor and a commendation letter for his entire duty within the committee. The Volunteers of the Dev Sanskriti University also performed well in the Parliament. They displayed about 35 video messages in the Parliament from which 3 were selected. Three students were also selected by way of interview. Gaurav Joshi was selected for the State level participation. Other Volunteers Narendra Makode, Kartikeya and Yash Kumar also performed excellently in the Parliament. A Day long “Disha” Workshop organized by the Indian Air Force at DSVV

A One day Workshop was organized on 22 October, 2018 under the “Disha” program of the Indian Air Force at the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya. The workshop was divided into two phases. In the first phase, the officers of the Indian Air Force, Wing Commander Shri Goyal and Squadron Leader Shri Anupam Kumar, apprised the students of the history and the capabilities of the Indian Air Force. They also explained about the reason behind the workshop which was to spread awareness about the Indian Air Force amongst the youths and aware them of the employment opportunities opening in the future. They said that the candidates can join the wing through UPSC, NDA, NCC and other Engineering branches. They informed that not only for the posts of pilots but also for other positions like Ground Duty staff, Administration, Accounts Department etc. the candidates can apply. Apart from this, they also explained about the functioning of the various fighter aircrafts, the duties of the pilot, their uniform and other technical details. A question-answer session was held in the second phase of the program. The doubts and enquiries of the students were answered by the officers in this session. Pre Republic Day Parade: Two students from DSVV perform well

Two students of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, from the Department of the National Service Scheme, were selected for the Pre Republic Day Parade. In this Parade, 6 students were selected from the entire Garhwal Region; amongst them two belonged to DSVV. It is to be noted that aforesaid camp was organized from October 3 to October 12 in which 200 volunteers of NSS from various states took part. Candidates were selected on the basis of specified parameters like weight, length, race, sports, parade and cultural events. The selected students from DSVV, Yash Kumar belonged to the BBA course of the Department of Tourism Management while Tanya Kanwal belonged to the B.Sc. course of the Department of Environmental Science. The Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, congratulated the entire University on selection of the above mentioned students. He said that the volunteers of DSVV have been glorifying the name of the Uttarakhand state by regularly participating in the Pre Republic Day Parade for the last six years. The coordinator of the National Service Scheme in DSVV, Dr. Arunesh Parashar, said that the preparations of the parade have been going on for the last one month. Presently, the students are preparing to take part in the parade procession to be taken out at Rajpath, Delhi in January, 2019. Gold Medal won at the State Level Table Tennis Competition

Students of the Gayatri Vidyapith, Haridwar won a Gold Medal jointly at the State Level Table Tennis Competition for their excellent performance in the game. The event was organized on October 16 and 17 at Kotdwar Stadium for under-fifteen & under-seventeen category players. Ananya Tripathi of Gayatri Vidyapeeth defeated Kumud Mishra of Gayatri Vidyapeeth in under-fourteen Girls’ category. While Harvansh Chaubey ranked second in the Boys’ category. In under-seventeen Girls’ category, Vanshika Sharma and Preeti Singh of Gayatri Vidyapith defeated Kajal from Dehradun. Earlier, Tanmay Varma of Gayatri Vidyapith defeated Kamal from Nainital in the under-ninenteen category at Dehradun. From the entire state of Uttarakhand, chosen students from Gayatri Vidyapith - Tanmay Varma, Preeti Singh, Sakshi Singh, Harvansh Chaubey, Ananya Tripathi, Vanshika Shrama and Kumud Mishra, were selected for the Uttarakhand Team for Table Tennis Competition which was led by a student of the Vidyapith. On returning from the program, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, congratulating the students, said that they have glorified the name of the Uttarakhand state. The result of incorporating learning in life from their very childhood is reflected in these students. At the closing of the competition, all the competitors received blessings from the Honorable Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pranav Pandya and the Patron of the University, Adarniya Shail Jiji. According to the Honorable Chancellor, the seeds those germinate in the childhood of the children, always flourish like fruitful trees in future. Security Personnel of DSVV carry out cleanliness campaign at banks of River Ganga

On last Sunday, in the midst of Navratris, the staff members of the Security Department of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya participated in the River Ganga Cleanliness Campaign. They took the responsibility of cleaning the Geeta Kuteer Ghat near Saptrishi. River Ganga is sacred and is looked upon as a form of Mother in India apart from being considered as Mokshadayani (providing liberation) and ultimate form of purity. The water of River Ganga is considered to be an integral part of human life from birth to death. In current scenario, view of River Ganga is in a pathetic state. It was with huge devotion to the Mother Ganga that the Security staff members, purely voluntarily, carried out the cleanliness campaign. They collected all the waste and polythene bags scattered all around the Ghat and loaded the garbage onto a Tractor Trolley and finally handled the trolley to the Municipality. The campaign that ran for almost two hours, around two quintals of garbage was collected. There were twenty staff members besides the Chief of the Security Department, Shri M.K. Sharma, who registered their presence at the event. The Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, speaking at the event said that cleanliness is our first priority which goes hand in hand with security. In Navratris, besides cleaning our minds, cleanliness of places around us is also necessary. The University has always been willing to carry out such campaigns. The campus witnesses many cleanliness campaigns from time to time wherein a collective involvement of teachers and students is seen. The members of the Security Department expressed a feeling of pride while performing the work of social interest. Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya and Shantikunj honored for Cleanliness Campaign

In a felicitation ceremony, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya and Shantikunj were honored by the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar for carrying out Cleanliness Campaign. It is to be noted that the Cleanliness Campaign is carried out all over the country from September 15 to October 2. The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar honored the NGOs, Universities, institutions etc. who played leading roles in the campaign. This campaign was conducted on large scale by DSVV and Shantikunj. Programs like shramdaan under “Cleanliness is the Service”, poster, rangoli, slogan, pamphlet distribution, etc. were organized. All of these programs have become an integral part of the University and the Shantikunj. The idea of Shramdaan and Anshadaan is now being recognized all over the country. On behalf of the University and the Shantikunj, the honor was received by Shri Hari Mohan Gupta, Dr. Arunesh Parashar and Shri Narendra Thakur. There were many dignitaries who along with the Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Lalit Narayan Mishra, honored the institutions. According to the Honorable Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pranav Pandya, there is a distinct identity of Shantikunj in the field of cleanliness and service. National Award received in Table Tennis Game by DSVV

A felicitation ceremony was held under the auspices of N.G.O. India, a Sports Promotion Organization. The tag line of the program was "Jo Badhaa Rahi hai Desh ka Maan, Hum kar rahen hain uska samman” (We are honoring the girl who is raising the reputation of the country). Under the “Beti Bachao, Beti Khilao (Save the Daughter, Feed the Daughter)” campaign, Yogeshwari Tejra, a student of Gayatri Vidyapith, was presented with an award and an appreciation letter for excelling in Table Tennis Game from Uttarakhand. This honor was given to her keeping in view her talent and personal progress in Table Tennis Game. “Dadi di Shooter”, the famous woman of India, presented the honor. According to the Honorable Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pranav Pandya, sports are an integral part of life. They help in the pacification of the Body, Mind and Soul. It is a matter of great pride, if our daughters are moving ahead on this path. Shramdaan organized by the Department of Theology and Divinity

Shramdaan (Donation of Labor) was called by the Department of Theology and Divinity at large level in the Cleanliness Fortnight. In this campaign, apart from the 20 cadets of NCC, the entire department was present in the program. The outline of the program was drafted by the head of the Department Shri Durgesh Dwivedi. Shri Om Prakash Tejra and Shri Pawan Rajouria conducted the Survey and the distribution of the areas for the program. The campaign started with all the volunteers, cadets, teachers and others participating from Gate Number 1 and 2 of the University. The campaign ended at back at Gate Number 1. It is to be noted that during the Cleanliness Fortnight, there are various programs being run in the University. Various departments of the University also participated in the campaign. On the occasion, Shri Sharad Pardhy, the Vice Chancellor of the University, said that the concept of “service with cleanliness” (shramdaan) is one of the activities of our mission. Plantation Program held in Pitra Paksha (a fortnight meant for forefathers)

A fifteen day Shraaddha Tarpan Program in Pitra Paksha was organized by the Department of Theology and Divinity at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya. Teachers and students of the various departments of the University took part in the Program. Besides offering prayers to the Pitras (forefathers), there were also creative programs run from 5 to 7 in the morning of the pitra paksha. A Plantation program was also conducted in the said time at large level. In all hundred trees were planted. According to the Environmentalist, Shri Gyan Mishra, the trees would grow as children provided they are nurtured with love and care. Along with this the members also took part in the cleanliness campaign of the University. Public was also made aware of the campaign besides cleaning the University and the nearby areas. The entire program was managed by Dr. Avanendu Pandey of the Department of Tourism Management and Shri Om Prakash Tejra of the Department of Theology and Divinity. Kathak Workshop organized by the Department of Music and Indian Culture

A two day Kathak workshop was organized by the Department of Music and Indian Culture in Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya. The workshop was inaugurated jointly by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Shri Sharad Pardhy, as well as by the Registrar of the University, Shri Sandeep Kumar. Shri Saurabh Rai and Dr. Malvika Mishra, the Kathak Experts of the SPIC MACAY along with their students, apprised everyone of the Art of Music, its mood and postures, its gestures etc. The above members personally paid attention to all the participants and answered their queries. The Kathak Experts answered the queries put up by the participants, providing fitting solutions based on the experiments done by them in field of Music. Dr. Shiv Narayan Prasad, the head of the Department said that in all thirty participants took part in the Kathak workshop. All of them were provided with basic knowledge on Kathak and its related activities. According to the Vice-Chancellor, Shri Sharad Pardhy, Music helps in developing rhythm in life. Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya honored with a State Level Award on Tourism Day

On the occasion of Tourism Day, the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya was honored for reliable accommodation and friendly atmosphere on Tourism day. This honor was presented by the Tourism Minister, Shri Satpal Maharaj. The Program was duly started with the joint venture of Ph.D. Chamber, Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand Tourism and Tourism School Dot Com along with several other collaborators. The Department of Tourism Management of the University was also honored for special contribution in tourism sector during the program. The honor was received by the Head of the Department, Dr. Arunesh Parashar. There were various types of presentations and queries in the program, the proper answers and solutions to which were given by the Tourism Minister. According to the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, the University has a spiritually oriented, realistic and lively atmosphere. The University is making its mark in the country and abroad for its sustainable structure and loving conduct. Dr. Pandya conveyed his best wishes to the Department of Tourism Management. The department and the students, voluntarily, played an important role in the management of the entire program. A total of 78 awards were given away in which good hotels, resorts, travel agencies, NGOs, educational institutions and many other reputable organizations were involved. Professor Chaturvedi of DSVV to be honored by the President’s Award

Every year, the Human Resource Development Ministry of India honors the Scholars with the President's Award for outstanding work in the fields of languages like Sanskrit, Pali etc. The Scholars are awarded with a certificate and with a sum of rupees five lakhs. Professor Radhey Shyam Chaturvedi of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya is one of the fifteen scholars, from all over India, who has been selected to receive the President's Award for the year 2017. Prof. Chaturvedi is a literary lover and rich in creative vision. Being learned in all disciplines of Sanskrit Literature, he is also a capable scholar of Advanced Sciences. He has done evident interpretations of Tantra Shashtra Granthas like Tantralok Mahakalasanghita, Shakti Sangam Tantra and others. He is presently providing his services to DSVV as the Head of Department of Vedic Studies and Sanskrit and Dean of the Faculty of Indian Languages under the School of Indology. On this achievement, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, said that working with a scientific vision on the acquired knowledge of Sanskrit is very important today. This work creates awareness amongst the masses and inspires a deep interest in ancient culture and rituals, Anushthans etc. The Honorable Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pranav Pandya, forwarding his best wishes to the Professor, said that this achievement has not only glorified the University but also the entire state of Uttarakhand.
