Monthly Devlog Update and Deindexing

This update comes amidst a wave of changes that are taking place across Steam and Itch.io. While Free Fall has not yet been impacted by these censorships, the nature of the content it will touch upon in future chapters (obsession, loss, depression, existential dread, limerence, and other heavy themes) may change this moving forward. The game will also include sexually explicit 18+ content in later chapters, an element I feel is inherent to the storytelling for reasons that will be revealed in later chapters. Many creators are hosting their games on different platforms, and moving forward, I may have to consider doing so for Free Fall as well. 

My heart goes out to anyone who's been impacted by theses restrictions <3  I'm hoping that itch.io will reconsider their decision to deindex adult games once they realize how strongly our community feels about these recent changes. In the meantime, lets keep applying pressure to payment processors, signing petitions, and calling credit card companies. The traction our community has made in pushing back against these censorships has been amazing, and I truly believe that it's only a matter of time before these changes are amended.

Regarding the updates itself, most of the updates have been to the code itself- nothing obvious on the front end. As an amateur coder trying to learn as I go, I've made a lot of mistakes. I've had to go back and completely recode some sections to ensure it doesn't lead to issues in future chapters. Aside from the code itself, I've continued to work on chapter two. Life has been hectic, I apologize to those of you I haven't been able to respond to yet in Itch.io comments or tumblr asks. I'm hoping to set aside some time to do so soon.  Getting caught up on everything will probably take me a couple weeks, but it is definitely on the top of my to-do list <3

Free Fall is a gritty, haunting interactive fiction novel about love, obsession, and what it means to know someone more intimately than you know yourself.  It dares to sample love in all its forms- tender, honest, ugly, and all-consuming. Because love- true love-is about baring yourself, flaws and all. 

But not all truths will set you free. 

And not all fragile things are soft. 

You meet him by chance, or maybe fate. There’s something broken in him, something wild. But it calls to something in you. He makes you feel things you never dreamt possible. Things that make you wonder if you ever really knew what it meant to feel alive until the day you met him.

As your lives entwine, boundaries blur. Between shades of limerence- devotion and obsession. Between who you thought you were… and who you become when you're with him. But the line between love and madness is thinner than you think.  Will you choose obsession, love, or cling to what's safe and familiar?  And when the time comes—will you try to save him, or will you save yourself, and let him fall.
