"Never take family for granted."
A very valuable life lesson I learned today. I also learned it in a sad way. While eating dinner, my step mom and my dad were saying something about an earn. And i imeadiatly remembered a conversation i had with my step mom a while back. A few months ago, my German Shepard, whose name is Riley, was taken to get groomed. But she still smelled really bad. And my step mom told me that if there was something wrong with Riley, we would put her down to end her suffering. When i remembered that talk and heard my step mom say "earn", i imeadiatly looked at Riley, which was laying down by the table with her paw over her face. After dinner, i went over to pet her and started to cry. My step mom also said something about telling us saturday (during dinner) and while i was petting Riley, my step mom said to my dad, " I think your daughter knows what we were talking about. My step mom went outside. My dad walked over and said, "Listen. Step mom took Riley to the vet today,". Right there i KNEW something was wrong. He finished with, "And we found out that Riley has... CANCER."
. . . .
I stopped petting riley as she got up and I started to cry with my hand still in the air from petting her. That was it. That was exactly what i didn't need. And such a terrible timing too. Right after being taken from my mom, my dog had to get CANCER. I have the weekend to spend with her and she is being put down monday while i'm at school.
Why do I act such a fool to think she would always be here.
