A couple of friends(#17)
Oh man, today’s morning was terrible. I could not wake up my brain for more than 1h for some reason. After that I had a ton of cleaning up to do around the house. I hate when that happens. My daughter was watching cartoons almost the whole morning. It really made me feel terrible after. Hope it does not repeat or i have to think of a better way to do both. OK, Complaining over, now to the main part. :)
Today we visited a couple which we are becoming friends with. Being an expat, getting to know people gets easy but forming relationships with any long-term prospect is really hard. I learned this over the past 2 years. Things are very smooth and easy at the beginning but I noticed that everyone is just very kind and polite. Not necessarily a real friend. I was often willing to go and form a deeper relationship but it is rarely the case for others.
This couple, or better to say family because they also have a daughter. They are just great. Some of the first people we met that were willing to connect, hang out, were of similar age and mindset to us... We met trough me and the husband. We started working together and just got along very well. Then we noticed that we are in similar life situations, both just about to become fathers, wife/girlfriend is home taking care of the child... We could relate to each other.
Long story short. They recently moved into a new house and we visited. It is a really nice place a bit outside the city. They are super happy and it is kind-of their dream house. It is very nice to see them so happy and settled and comfortable.
I also hope we can make a similar move soon as our place is more practical and more central to the city but relatively small. It is cosy I would say but could get crowded in a few years when there are 2 kids running around instead of 1 and both start getting bigger.
More and more I am thinking of ways to progress faster towards financial freedom. I saw a video today of a very experienced real-estate business person doing a challenge where he started with no cache and in 1 week managed to get deals for sub-renting 2 properties. Basically offering a fixed rent to the owner and renting them out online via booking.com, airbnb.com and similar sites. He also put into place services for cleaning and other things making the whole thing somewhat a risky plan but a very passive way of making income. Sounds amazing. I hope my projects also turn a profit soon. working on it a lot.

I really missed my pets (#15)
Having pets is really amazing. It is surprising how much a simple being like a cat or a dog changed my life. It is amazing. It is hard to imagine a life without my pets now. Whenever we travel and leave our pets with a pet sitting service I instantly feel weird the day after. The apartment is too silent, too empty. There is such a big warmth that surrounds pets. It is a new type of love that i started feeling towards them. It’s hard to explain. Both my dog and Cat are around 5 years old now and have recently gained some weight. I am starting to get worried for them so i started enforcing a stricter diet for both of them. It is hard to do that to my animals. Until this summer I was regularly running with my dog but i decided not to do it anymore because she really didn’t enjoy it. We would always drag each other 10-20 meters one ways and than 10-20m back. I would push to go to the park so that she can be off the leash and I can run. This dog doesn’t want that!!! She would drag me back home because she didn’t want to got to the park if I had my running shoes on. Man. It was getting impossible. She stopped trusting me and every time i would take her out for a walk alone she would suspect that we are going for a run. She would drag me to the nearest piece of grass, go to the toilet and drag me back. This picture is from one of the last times we ran together in our old apartment. She is still an amazing dog. The sweetest and kindest thing you can imagine. Now, with my daughter it is even more obvious that having a pet at home is something that is really right for my family. My Daughter is simply thriving. We believe that she also has a strong immune system because of the pets. Better coordination and also soft skills. She is learning that she has to be gentle with them. My daughter loves to feed our dog. Anytime she is not hungry but still has some food left over, she gives it to our dog. Our dog is quite big (35kg) and it is really fun to see how soft and gentle the dog is when taking food form my daughter’s hand. There is basically 0% chance of my daughter getting hurt of even scared by our dog. That gentle.(04.01.2019.)
