Going to attempt to sort my sleeping pattern out starting from tonight, I’ve only been trying for probably about 5 years lol anyway here’s my plan incase anyone has any other suggestions I haven’t thought of.
- no TV/ smart phone an hour before bed instead read a few chapters of a book.
- drink a cup of red berry tea.
- put on an asmr youtube video to fall asleep too (I can’t sleep without some kind of noise because of anxiety)
- make sure the room is dark and cool enough.
- set an alarm for the next day but leave phone on other side of room so not temped to look at it during the night.
- try and get up at the same time everyday.
- don’t overthink my entire life whilst lying there in the dark... 😏
and yeah that’s about it! I’m determined this time round to get into some sort of schedule because my body and my brain are feeling all out of sorts, I’m just fed of of sleeping away most of the morning and I also need to get into a daytime routine so I can aim to get back into work next year.

Everyday you wake up and feel a little tinge of pain as if something's trying to make it's way inside. Days go by and the piercing has grown into a void now , still bearable. But that day that one awakenings day you realise there's no "you" anymore the void swallowed you long ago , still breathing but slowly a burning pain makes you numb and before you even know your only consciousness is oblivious. You can't name the pain that numbed you nor the cause that made the stars disappear , you just acknowledge it's existence, laying still as ice. And now as the ice breaks you see it closely, examine it and name it poetically, inevitable yearning. And when you feel it all of it at once you learn how sorrow turned longing is potentially capable of killing you.
(felt strong enough to post it for now, will definitely delete it later)

quotes that help me survive:
“You are not lost. You are here. Stop abandoning yourself. Stop repeating this myth about love and success that will land in your lap or evade you forever. Build a humble, flawed life from the rubble, and cherish that. There is nothing more glorious on the face of the earth than someone who refuses to give up, who refuses to give in to their most self-hating, discouraged, disillusioned self, and instead learns, slowly and painfully, how to relish the feeling of building a hut in middle of the suffocating dust.” — Heather Havrilesky, Ask Polly

“To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go.” — Mary Oliver

Tumblr media
“You have to believe, in your heart, that even if you don’t work hard and exercise and think positive thoughts and make new friends and march triumphantly into the future, you are still enough. You will always have bad days. Being broken doesn’t make you a loser. You can crumble, and you will still be enough. Make that your religion moving forward. You are here to feel this moment. You are not here to become someone better. You are not here to impress or compete. You are not here to prove yourself. You are here to savor this life. Let down your guard. You are already enough. Believe it.” — Heather Havrilesky
“The first feminist gesture is to say: “Ok. They’re looking at me. But I’m looking at them.” The act of deciding to look, of deciding that the world is not defined by how people see me, but by how I see them.” -Agnès Varda
lyrics from the song Grow by The Oh Hellos:
Tumblr media
“The world’s otherness is antidote to confusion, that standing within this otherness—the beauty and the mystery of the world, out in the fields or deep inside books—can re-dignify the worst-stung heart.” — Mary Oliver
“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you,and that you will work with these stories from your life--not someone else's life--water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom. That is the work. The only work.” — Clarissa Pinkola Estes

men of colour are tired of seeing straight white men in the film industry just as much as women. they are affected by lack of representation just as much. so, it really doesn’t sit right with me hearing “four directors and Greta Gerwig” in a whole speech about representation when two of those four directors are men of colour. stop condemning men of colour for lack of representation when they are just as affected.

how to become a better you everyday :
be more observant. Notice everything that surrounds you. The world is full of examples, ideas, words, wisdom, mistakes and experiences.
Collect ideas. Ideas and thoughts tend to evaporate from your mind too fast. Try to capture them before it is too late, Ideally, write down or record every single one as a voice memo
Become more intuitive, trust yourself and accept your mistakes. Progress isn't linear but you will always learn something from your intuition.
Be kind to people, radiate the energy you want to receive.
Communicate, with your partner, your friends, family, coworkers. Every little thing, even if you are scared people would judge you.

The "that girl" trend was something that I recently came across on TikTok. That girl is described as that one girl we all know that seems to have her entire life together, has the perfect work-life balance, prioritizes her health, has this calm aura around her that just makes you hope that even a fraction of her essence will rub off on you. I like the that girl trend because it's like the hot girl summer trend, but it's more focused on wellness and becoming your best self.
Becoming "that girl" is something I think is attainable if you're willing to be dedicated to the lifestyle. It will involve breaking some pre-existing bad habits, and adopting some newer alternatives, but I believe it will overall benefit and enhance your life. So here's @angelicallyafrican's guide to becoming ✨that girl✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Create a morning routine
A ✨that girl✨ morning routine would look something like:
Waking up early (between 6-8 am)
Making the bed
Opening the blinds/curtains to let the light in
Doing a page in your Five Minute Journal
Doing some sort of intentional movement (weight lifting, going on a walk/run, doing yoga or pilates, etc)
Having a healthy breakfast that nourishes your body
Drinking LOTS of water
Spraying a beautiful fragrance
Getting dressed in an outfit that makes you feel good
Going over your to-do list
Starting your work or school day
So this is what I've got from most of the ✨that girl✨ videos. They emphasize that how you start your day is crucial to feeling and actually having a more put-together life.
