‘dolce far niente’ - john william godward (1897)
the italian phrase ‘dolce far niente’ literally translates to ‘sweet idleness’ - this is one of two paintings that godward created under this title.

I am an impulsive roleplayer.
I let my muse take the reins and decide what threads to start or reply to in a given day. If the muse doesn’t feel it, it isn’t happening. That doesn’t mean that I hate you or that I no longer want to interact with you; I probably either lost our thread or my muse just said, ‘nah bro.’
I’m sorry I drop threads. I’m sorry I don’t reply to memes. I’m sorry I ignore my asks. I’m sorry I plot things and then don’t do them. I’m an impulsive roleplayer: my muse guides me.
Roleplaying isn’t my job: it’s my hobby. I do it for fun. My muse isn’t my coworker: my muse is my friend. We have fun together. If I started treating this as a job, it wouldn’t be enjoyable for me anymore, and the quality of my content would diminish greatly!
And while we’re on the subject, just because a thread gets dropped does not mean the relationship between our muses is dead!! Thread =/= relationship! We can start something new and continue building their bond! Relationships are important to building new aspects of our muses!
I always want to roleplay with you. Just…perhaps not with that thread. You feel?

"You like it?" He smiles as he tops off the drink, in turn refilling his own chalice of the heady wine. "I thought it was good. Antlers and their.. things." The god gestures with his hands, pinched fingers extending to open palm as it extends away from his head. Repeating the action a couple times.
Dionysus does crack a smile that crinkles his eyes in the corners and rounds his cheeks. "Merriment.." Yes, that was the word, one that certainly described himself and his proclivities. "Not a bad association, I hope? I hear I make fantastic company. In fact, consider this a formal, open invitation to any of our future little.. romps. The dances are unforgettable. "
@dimetor
“Hm?” The ivy-entangled deity blinks and looks to the other, as if awoken or snapped back from a distant thought. “Oh, who knows, honestly. Mortals are fantastic at finding connections to things. Sure I am horned some of the time, but never quite so… branchy. Drink?” Gesturing to his bottle, held near the mug.

          “ Branchy. ”
Tumblr media
Lip quirks in the hint of a smile as the antler’d God repeats the other’s words, punctuating the phrase with a light snort that is very nearly, but not quite, a laugh.
          “ That is surely one way to describe myself. Fruitful is perhaps another. I suppose I share a similar predilection for prosperity, but I admit I am not nearly as fond of merriment as yourself… . Though I am not opposed to another drink.” The Horned God nods politely in acceptance, extending the clay tankard toward the other.
          “ I suppose it is to be expected with mortals. As time carries onward and power changes hands, things tend to be… lost in translation. ”

(@throughthewylds) "Evidently there are some that think us alike," The Antler'd God remarks, idling running his thumb over the clay mug held between his sturdy hands, "I suppose there are some similarities, but I scarcely see the resemblance. Though, perhaps I am wrong. What say you, friend?"
