This famous scene from Oscar winning film Midnight Cowboy was all improvised. Due to the fact they didn’t have enough money to close time square they just filmed in public. When Dustin Hoffman almost got hit his initial reaction was to stay in character and keep going. Thus creating one of the best improvised moments in movie history.

When he was silent everyone laughed, when he spoke everyone was silent. Ironic how the man who came to fame without ever speaking a word, left us speechless in this greatest speech ever.
The Great Dictator 1940- directed by Charlie Chaplin
