Let's have some fun with cyberpunk, shall we?

Hiroyuki Namba surely took advantage of this situation.

A score rooted in electronic music -- sonic textures abound -- breathes in this cue, simply titled Chase.

The highlight for me are the drums. They sound so beefy for an electronica score. But they ultimately aid in providing this track with its sturdy backbone, so as to enable such creative instrumentation yielding some cheerful stop-start rhythms from a space-age keyboard bass to a jazzy, aerated organ -- not to mention a crafty computer blip melody and a robotic hi-hat disguised with a flange.

But for all its creativity... the main objective here is fun. And that's what allures me. Fun with an agenda... in this case, the dark and technologically-advanced themes of cyberpunk. The boundaries being pushed between the parameters of the setting and the exploration of the sound are the most fun of all.
