nothing more flattering than someone saying "oh don't get her going" in reference to you when a topic you're passionate about is brought up

and ANOTHER thing about sinners being a tragedy about 1) the violence marginalized people inflict on each other and inflame within other oppressed groups in the name of staying afloat within the margins, 2) the moments of love that make all the horror worth it to such an extent that we create horror to make more of those moments, 3) and the cycles of violence that repeat themselves within families, communities and civilization as a whole:
i just now realized that the smokestack twins' entire reason for coming home is the first time these themes appear in the movie.
they infiltrated and turned the irish and italians, two ethnic groups that were then-maligned by greater white america (nowhere near to the extent of black people but still), against each other so they could rob them of their wealth and a piece of their culture (their liquor is always identified as irish beer or italian wine) while they killed each other.
their motivation for initiating a massive slaughter with consequences that will last for years within chicago's irish and italian communities was so they could go home and use those stolen assets to try to create a space for their community to celebrate each other and their music, and have more time with the people they love and have been separated from for years. and all of this will be in vain, because the people they hurt will figure out who turned them on each other and inevitably seek revenge and the community they're trying to create will be destroyed in the morning by the klan.
this is a microcosm of the story that's about to unfold-- of the cycle of violence that's about to repeat-- because remmick's about to do the exact same thing to them for the exact same reasons and will yield the exact same result.

i need someone with more scholarly info than me to write the essay about how the true loneliness epidemic is the loneliness felt by lesbians and trans women, how society paints us as inherently evil and predatory and how lesbians and trans women (especially trans lesbians) are the antithesis to Polite Society

Not to downplay Homura and Madoka's relationship at all, but Homura falling deeply in love with the first girl who gave her the time of day is like. Painfully accurate queer teen representation. Throw in Homura's implied Catholicism and baby, you got a stew going.

i think a big part of the current wave of antifeminist rhetoric among women is that people just cannot accept the idea that liberating yourself is uncomfortable. like of course it feels Wrong to see something you've internalised as normal/necessary (like wearing makeup 24/7) be challenged, that's because you've internalised it. and it will feel ostracising to go against the status quo once you question the things you've internalised. but the discomfort is part of it. you have to move past the fear response and look at the bigger picture.

Extremely rare officially licensed 1981 Donkey Kong plush (the first piece of official merchandise ever produced for Donkey Kong and by extension, the Mario series) that is still in its original packaging.
