PATD was the first band to ever perform on FNMTV
FNMTV was a new summer show in 2008 that tried to bring back music video premieres & live performances from popular artists. I think it was officially called “F’N MTV Premieres” but everyone just typed FNMTV. The “F'N” part of the show’s name was for Friday Night.
Pete Wentz was the host. Panic at the Disco was finishing up the last few shows in the Honda Civic Tour when they taped their performance, so that tour helped promote this first episode too since Pete was also a “Honda Civic Tour alum.”
I scanned these to show the Pete-themed ads:

Here's an except from a post about rehearsals:

Pete Wentz is sitting, like, three feet from me, and I want nothing more than to take a pic of him in his cute winter hat … I headed outside and found a few members of Panic taking a well-deserved break:

The first episode was taped on June 11th and aired on June 13th. The fandom knew about this in May and could request free tickets from 1iota to be at the taping.
Ryan said in a June interview before the performance: “I think anything that MTV is gonna do to actually play music again is good for people and good for the station and good for bands as well. So, I dunno, I'm excited for it.”
Northern Downpour wasn’t shown on tv, but it was a bonus video we could watch on MTV’s site. I edited the video at the top of this post together from the files that were originally uploaded & shared in a zip file by lilithlotr (a fan) in June 2008. So the video above is a bit different from what we saw on tv… there’s more footage but no Pete Wentz. Here’s an example of what the tv show looked like:

Spencer talked to BBC about performing with Snoop Dogg on this show:
“When we were rehearsing we spent half an hour just hanging out and talking, which was kind of the most surreal thing that’s ever happened. He was really polite considering the situation we were in. He had probably maybe heard the name of the band but didn’t know anything about our music and we were all fans of the stuff having grown up with his music. It was just a really different feel, but he was totally cool.”
In fall 2008 Spencer was asked about a high point for PATD so far and he said:
“Here’s a good one that’s unrelated to music. Actually, it is related to music. We did this show on MTV, and Snoop Dogg was on there, so we ended up playing ‘Gin and Juice;’ we played the music and he rapped over it… So we had to practice it, and we went over to his dressing room, and we had some acoustic guitars, and we ended up smoking with him, and that was pretty amazing. Smoking with Snoop Dogg is something I’ll never forget.”
plz appreciate how adorable Brendon is here:

Pete Wentz shared this picture on his blog in mid-June 2008 with the caption:

“so we filmed for the first episode of fnmtv. i think it went pretty well. there were a few bugs but for the most part it went better than expected. im pretty sure it wont be some giant thing or whatever, but i am excited to put the video back in the spotlight. highlights for me: the new snoop video, seeing the other side of flo-rida, watching panic jam on a song with snoop, meeting kids from the show, leaving the set before i could get yelled at for dropping an f-bomb or two on air. we tried to convince panic that the name of their new record should be “the return of the rosevest”. what do you think?”
side note: by June 2008 too many fans had drifted away or were just less enthusiastic about what the Pretty. Odd. era band was doing. I thought that mentioning a joking return of the Fever-era band was great subtle marketing on Pete's part to bring fans back to the mindset of the iconic era where everything was super exciting for a massive fandom.
Panic's soundcheck:
from MTV's behind-the scenes...

Panic At the Disco’s on stage, goofing around, taking turns rapping, running through their songs and bits and pieces of others. They do a bit of “Brown Eyed Girl,” (seriously), then some vague impression of a Jamaican band. Brendon Urie’s, of course, in what’s become his uniform: red-and-black striped tee, bowl cut, sunglasses.

It’s been an hour and they still aren’t done. So Ryan Ross kills some time by texting.

A stage manager tells Panic that for their next go, they have to give 100 percent. “I’m only gonna give 135,” Brendon says, drolly. Cheeky! Panic’s still rehearsing, so I met up with this guy:

His name is Shane Valdez, and he has the best job in the world. He travels all over the world with Panic At The Disco and is in charge of documenting every moment of their lives, including their documentary. He took me on Panic’s tour bus, which was quite tidy for four dudes. We snapped this pic on the way out:

side note from me: a fan had previously mentioned giving the band that magnet at the Seattle show in the Honda Civic Tour. It said “life sucks then you die, so f— it all and let’s get high.” And then someone apparently edited it to be more upbeat lol.

It’s almost time for final dress, and the fans are ready to tear through the doors like they’re the streets of Pamplona:

I leave you with this:
