[Monster Manual III in 3rd edition has a surprising number of enemies that are big balls of stuff that roll over you. The necronaut is a big tower of skulls, the plague brush is a giant tumbleweed, and the odopi, my favorite, is a cluster of arms and eyes. Katamari Damacy came out the same year, 2004, but the dates don’t line up. Monster Manual III was a September release, and Katamari didn’t get released in the USA until November. Maybe some developer saw a trailer and got hyped. Maybe it’s a coincidence. Maybe there was something in the air in 2004, and getting crushed by a Dangerous Orb was the zeitgeist.]

Odopi CR 15 CE Aberration This nightmarish creature is a tangle of hundred of clawed arms, each covered in warty orange flesh. If the creature has a true body, it is disguised by the forest of limbs. Each hand has a single eye glaring balefully from the palm. It moves by rolling, its arms working in synchrony to allow it to tumble with surprising speed.

Sometimes called “tumbling horrors” or “claw clusters”, the odopi are hideous aberrations found on chaotic and evil planes. Daemons, demons and proteans have all accused each other of being responsible for odopi creation, and no qlippoth has yet taken the credit. The center of an odopi’s body contains a single fleshy orifice that serves as both mouth and anus—this is the ultimate destination of anything unfortunate enough to fall into odopi clutches.

Odopi roll ceaselessly in search of prey, preferring canyons, crags and other terrain other creatures find hazardous but they can navigate with ease. An odopi’s tactics are simple—claw and trample creatures until they stop moving, then swallow them. If attacked at range, they will throw stones with deadly accuracy, and they can use true seeing to detect invisible enemies. If badly injured, they typically flee using dimension door.

An odopi speaks Abyssal in a guttural, slobbering tone, accompanying its speech with hand gestures and claps.

설정: 레이븐퀸과 계약한 헥스블레이드 워락 젊은 시절 그냥 멋질 것 같다는 이유로 "레이븐퀸의 위대한 계획(뭔지 모름)을 실행하기 위해서라면 자신이 장기말이 되어도 된다"는 생각을 하고 계약했다가 그냥 알수 없는 지시를 따르는 회사원이 되어버린 상황. 생각보다 지금까지 뭔가 위대한 뭔가를 해보지 못하고 잡다한 심부름만 하고 다녔으며, 이번엔 뭔가 위대한 임무를 주셨을꺼라고 믿으며 이곳에 왔다.

인격특성: 나의 영혼을 레이븐퀸님에게, 근데 죽고 싶지는 않음.

신체 -키: 5′7″(170cm) -몸무게: 243lbs(110kg) -나이: 30대 초반(자신의 실제나이를 모름)

성향: 중립선 즈음. 군인 출신이라 질서성향을 보일 때도 있지만, 천성은 그보다는 자유분방한 편.

백스토리 20대 초반 어느 시점을 기점으로 이전 기억을 잃었다. 기억하는 것은 자신의 이름 뿐이였다. 네버윈터 해변에 떠내려온 것이 발견되고 치료가 되었으며, 당시 할 수 있는 일이 몸 쓰는 일 밖에 없어서 살기 위해서 군인을 지원해서 들어갔다. 10년을 복무하다 다걸트의 직접적인 지시로 진행되었던 마지막 임무에서 죄없어 보이는 민간인 일가를 아라곤다와 관련이 있다는 이유로 몰살시키라는 지시에 차마 실행을 하지 못하고, 상관에게 주먹을 날렸다는 이유로 결국 불명예 전역하였다. (사고와는 별개로 임무 자체는 완수되었다.) 이때 일로 다걸트와 네버윈터에 크게 실망하며 뭔가 다짐을 하게 된다. 잃어버린 기억이 조금 신경쓰이기는 하지만, 기억 없이 여기까지 살아서 지낸것을 봐서는 기억이 생존에 필요하지는 않을 것 같다고 생각하고 있다. 네버윈터 시절 특이한 종족임에도 자신을 알아보는 사람을 만난적이 없는 것으로 봐서 네버윈터 출신은 아닌 것으로 보인다. 머리가 나쁜것이 천성인지, 어떤 사고를 당해서 생겨난 것인지 모르고 있다. 하지만 가끔 묘하게 낮은 레벨의 주문들을 알아본다거나 약한 마법적 효과를 알아보는 일도 있다. 뭔가 과거가 있었을지도 모른다.

신앙: 아직 정하지 못했습니다. 군대에서는 헬름을 모시는 선임/동료가 많아서 대충 맞춰서 교회 다닌 느낌 정도.

인격특성: 바다가 보이는 곳이라면 특히 더 유쾌하고 긍정적이 된다.             나는 그어떤 날씨나 무드에도 기운을 잃지 않는다.

이상: 과거에 연연할 필요 없고, 미래를 걱정하며 살 필요 없다.

유대: 다걸트 네버렘버에게 복수 할 수만 있다면, 불법적인 것 외에 뭐든지 할 것이다.

결점: 약 20년간의 기억이 없다. 크게 연연하고 있지는 않지만, 신경은 쓰인다.       폭력이 답이 아니라는 것은 알고 있지만, 가끔은 쉬운 해결법이라고 생각이 들기도 한다.
