ੈ✩‧₊˚ new brewing tower in lilyport village!
the design was heavily (and i mean heavily) inspired by this pin! i always forget how cool it is to take a step back and see lilyport village fuller after each build <3

ೃ⁀➷ the view of lilyport from the manor, the view of lilyport manor from the village!
absolutely adoring the soft glow of lanterns at night with complementary shaders! so happy with the progress i've made, can't wait to look back on all the builds i've made over the past year!

⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ been slowly chipping away at lilyport village. recently dedicated a couple days to just terraforming this pond in both survival and creative mode, just depending on what i was feeling.
love how it came out. right now, the village looks a little out of place because there's this one built, lush spot in the middle of empty fields. but i'm very excited to document the construction of everything as time goes on :)
it's good to be feeling motivated and inspired to play on my forever world again!

*ೃ༄ been a little burnt out with building recently, so i've just been enjoying existing in my minecraft save. some times i farm, sometimes i explore, sometimes i decorate interiors that i have yet to decorate, and sometimes i just walk around, taking pictures. so here are some scenes from lilyport :)

Do you have any advice for a forever world? Do you play with mods on yours? Would you suggest this? I keep abandoning worlds that I intend to make forever worlds.
hey bones, yes i do! you can check out my thoughts and advices on keeping a forever world here!
as for mods: no, i do not use anything major because that's just personally how i enjoy minecraft. if you'd like a comprehensive list of the mods i used, you can find them listed here!
though i don't personally see anything wrong with mods! i watch other people play on their forever world with a variety of mods, big and small, all the time :) i think it all comes down to preferences and understanding what it is you want out of this sandbox game.
as for the pressures of having 'a forever world' ... i would say, never lose sight of the fact that minecraft is a sandbox game! play it in a way that you enjoy most. but, ,if you're really dead set on starting a forever world, i would recommend starting with this video by luvstar.

I love your style of building so much, and I love the IDEA of a forever world, but I feel like I could never actually stick to one world. I have so much respect for ppl who actually have forever worlds, like.. how do you do it??
hey annabella, thank you so much!
i think, the biggest thing about 'staying consistent about a forever world' is to, ironically, have no pressure to be 'consistent.' unless, of course, you're a content creator who is doing a let's play. otherwise, never forget that you are playing for yourself!
everything on my page was built over the course of a month or two where i felt super motivated to build and build; so that's what i did. in my spare time, i would just play minecraft while watching minecraft let's plays. and that was fulfilling for about two months.
then, i started to run out of steam and i just stepped away from the game, knowing full well that, down the line, i will return to it to further develop what i have going on :)
essentially: play as you like. if you feel inspired to play the game, do it. if you don't feel inspired to play the game, do something else! the moment you perceive your savefile as a 'chore' to complete or progress, you've made your forever world less fun to play on.
also — forever worlds is not the only way to play minecraft. it's a sandbox game and you should always feel free to play it as you please :) don't pressure yourself! i notice you're 15? life is too short and too precious to be spent worrying a little block game! have fun :)!
but if you're dead set on committing to a forever world, another user asked a similar question a while back and here was my answer!

of course, i can't build a pet village and not introduce all the new friends i've found along the way! first up is cheddar. i thought it was fitting as my name is cheese :) i love her a lot.
Tumblr media
there's also zelda; can't quite remember why i named this kitty that, but i have a feeling it's cause her eyes reminded me of the sheikah colours from BOTW!
Tumblr media
this here is celine :) named after the moon goddess from greek mythology. I thought it was fitting since her colours are dark, with moon-like highlights. I'm going for all the cat variants and I've been told there's a black cat (no highlights) so i cannot wait to find her and name her nyx!
Tumblr media
last but not least, here is persephone :)! inspired by the cosy colours of her fur. idk why but earth tones adjacent colours always reminds me of cosying up in bed while it's cold out, with a good book and a cup of coffee! which i feel is pretty fitting with how persephone was perceived in greek mythology; a source of comfort!

༊*·˚ finally ready to show off my pet village! situated just behind the lilyport barn, there used to be a curved stone divot that i bonemeal'd until all of it turned into moss for this! and then i built some pet houses inspired by this picture; though i made it a little more compact so i could fit more friends in here :) i went for a more lush look. wanted lots of flowers, lots of foliage, and, of course, my newly discovered custom spruce trees! so happy with how it turned out, though i can't say it's all finished just yet. i feel like adding in some boulder structures as well. we'll see!

ੈ✩‧₊˚ recently built pumpkin and melon patch just outside the windmill and parallel to the sunflower patch! honestly waiting for the pumpkins and the melons to grow was the most time consuming part of this build. i also wanted to add more dynamic natural structures around this area, so i hopped into creative and tried my best to build some trees, using this picture as a reference. i like them a lot, so don't be surprised if you see them pop up around in future pictures!

how long have you had your forever world for? also what would you recommend to keep motivating yourself to keep playing on it? i want to have a forever world and i'm hoping i can keep coming back to my current one :]
hey jordan, this is such a great question because i've definitely thought long and hard about this, too, when i first started my forever world.
i've had this save file for almost three months now (+ almost 500 days in-game) and i've been having a blast playing because i've always kept in mind that i was and always will be playing for myself. which is to say, in this sandbox game, i'm playing in a way that prioritises my fun over the idea of 'this is how minecraft is intended to be played.'
of course, what is fun is different from person to person. but these are a few things that i do to keep my save file fun for me:
playing with commands i love building, but i do not love terraforming and i definitely do not find satisfaction in big terraforming projects. so, when i'm building a huge cliff, a detailed body of water, or whatever else that i may find tedious, i will hop into creative mode! i don't have all the time in the world, so i just want to feel joy and feel relaxed when i'm playing on my forever world!
keep inventory + mobGriefing another thing that had always hindered my enjoyment of the game was losing my inventory upon death and having to rush back to get everything before they all despawned. it's just not fun for me personally, so i enabled keep inventory. and though i play mostly on peaceful, i still disabled mobGriefing in case i ever feel like running around on easy!
no set aesthetics i just build what i feel like building with whatever blocks i feel like using. no strict block palettes that i must use in every build, no clear style of building that i'm going for. it gives me so much space to build whatever is currently striking my interest! i have a bunch of videos of other people's world tours, tiny build ideas, etc. that i've been able to add to my save file rather seamlessly because i don't have a set 'aesthetic' that i'm going for :)
set achievable goals this is something that i picked up from youtubers who have worlds that have lasted thousands of in-game days. i'm currently building up lilyport village, but that goal alone is so daunting and vague. so, i break it down into buildings and tiny structures i would personally like to see in the village. a library, a cartography shop, a cascading waterfall, etc. plus, building the village up structure by structure allows me the satisfaction of checking things off as i go! i also have something in game to help me remember the different things i want to add into my world. i noticed you have a goal board in your forever world — me too! i like being able to visualise my goals in its entirety :)
back up your world! i've seen people talk about losing a longterm world (sometimes computers just crash, sometimes the game gets corrupted, etc) and then completely losing motivation to start all over. i keep this in mind every time i'm done with a gaming session and i back up my game on my desktop (after each session), my cloud drive (every few sessions), and an external drive (every few months)!
there are definitely other things that i'm forgetting, but these are the ones that i run into most frequently. i would also recommend checking out luvstar's video on this specific question, they've been my biggest inspiration in starting my forever world so i thought i'd include their video as well :)
obviously, these aforementioned points are what makes it fun for me.
so, if you prefer a little challenge or if building is not all that fun for you, there are other ways to play minecraft! it's a sandbox — tweak it to your liking!
thanks again for this lovely question, i hope i haven't yapped your head off and have fun!
also also — if anyone out here has a longterm world, please chime in in the replies or the reblogs as well :)! who knows who you will inspire with your lovely addition!

ೃ⁀➷ a new bridge i built to connect lilyport manor to lilyport village!
also, i'm trying not to reveal too much of the terraforming i'm currently working on. got some big plans for the ravine between the two points of interests!
