Ultimate Fantastic Four reading order

This was the third Ultimate ongoing to come out, after Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men. It was meant to launch and be primarily written by Bendis and Millar (combining the writer of USM and UXM) but because of scheduling the result was a few different writers tagging in and out.

UFF 1-26 — Bendis/Millar 1-6, Ellis 7-18, Carey 19-20, then Millar returns for his solo run introducing Marvel Zombies in 21.

Ultimate Gah Lak Tus Trilogy: Ultimate Nightmare 1-5, Ultimate Secret 1-5, Ultimate Vision 0, Ultimate Extinction 1-5 — this is tricky because publishing everything took place over a year, but the FF are prominent in Secret and Extinction. Ultimate Vision collects the backups from Ultimate ongoings that flesh out backstory. I ended up sticking it between writer runs.

ULTIMATE X4: Ultimate X-Men/UFF 1, UFF/UXM 1 — two separates #1s differentiated by swapping name order. The naming idea is so stupid it broke the fandom wiki, so the second link is to the actual comic. Begins Mike Carey’s run.

Ultimate Power 1-9 — Event miniseries with characters from across the Ultimate line at odds with Supreme Power, the MAX version of Squadron Supreme.

UFF 47-57 — Carey Leaves

Ultimate X-Men/FF Annual 1, Ultimate FF/X-Men Annual 1 — same deal as the previous crossover. This also begins Pokaski’s run writing this and UXM through Ultimatum.

Ultimate Spider-Man (V2) 1-15 — This follows Johnny moving into Peter’s house with Aunt May, Iceman and Gwen stacy.

Ultimate Fallout 4 — Bridges Johnny’s journey from living with Peter to a group of mutants and sets up Hickman’s Ultimates.

Survive 1 — epilogue/prelude

Ultimate FF 1-6 — this is titled Ultimate FF, not fantastic four, just FF.

Avengers (2013) 41 and 44 — In the main universe we follow incursions with glimpses of an Ultimate Universe character leading into SW.

Secret Wars 3 (2015) 0-9 — the culmination of the UU. Not really related to UFF.

Yes, a history of codependence is the reason they’re close, dramatic writing results in exaggeration until it becomes weird, then Ultimates played into that, taking the weirdness to another level.

Personally I’ve never heard that stereotype but I won’t try to convince you of anything.

It’s a thing because they’ve historically been weirdly close in the main universe, with Pietro being excessively overprotective to a point where it was suspect. Millar just nudged it to actually being what it seemed. Most “weird” things in the ultimate universe are things that were questioned or hinted in 616, but being full blast: cap being extra old fashioned, super patriotic/militaristic and big on God; Hank Pym’s domestic abuse, etc.
