hey chat first controversial opinion post but orv twt is driving me fucking crazy…

ahn hyoseop is not homophobic because he interpreted kim dokja (who he only knows of through the god awful script) as someone who likes women. he’s not homophobic because he thinks that the bl elements of orv were included for the fans and isn’t necessary in the movie. he’s not homophobic because he interpreted the botched version of kim dokja to be someone who likes women!!!

he does not and does not care to learn about the actual kim dokja (and although it pisses me off because i like him so much as an actor, he is a busy man… we cannot expect him to read the original source material. actors who are picked rather than those who audition will never care about the source material and that is a fact and that will not change just because you relentlessly bully them online). and what’s more, do you truly think that if lee minho failed to convince the director to change how yjh is written, that he’d listen to ahn hyo seop if he cared for kdj? lee minho is more popular than ahn hyo seop and has been around much longer, if he can’t do it then no one can. the director and writer are the problem for writing the characters the way they are, and the actors suck for not doing their own research into the actual story, but the actors cannot do anything if the director says no and the script stays the same!!

and fuck i hate the live action too… don’t worry… i’m ready to blow the entire thing up… but the fault of ahn hyo seops interpretation of kdj is the directors fault, not his 😭 and also what’s wrong with him saying kdj likes women. he didn’t say he doesn’t like men, he just said he thinks he likes women. also how the fuck do you expect a korean man to say “oh yeah. the character im playing is gay” in a movie that they NEED to do well… are you guys unaware of how homophobic south korea is like i need you to understand that the social climate orv is being released to isn’t the same as the one in the west 😭😭

i understand the frustrations, i feel them too. but everything isn’t just black and white there’s fucking nuance like… if the director fucked up everything else what made you believe that the director didn’t fuck up the relationships between the characters? like no shit ahn hyo seop doesn’t give a fuck about joongdok and their little gay exchanges 😭😭 they’re not in the SCRIPT.

it’s also so important to realize how little this movie covers in comparison to the web novel… like this is the tip of the iceberg relationships between characters barely exist how is he supposed to know how fucking down bad they are for each other when all they wanna do atm is is kill each other and use each other and piss each other off 😭😭

also i’m not saying that one cannot be upset by his interpretation of kdj and how the characters and relationships have been written. i’m upset by it and i will forever curse this director for fucking orv up so bad but i’m just begging these twt ppl to think a little deeper past just orv… like yes it sucks that our favorite characters are being botched to make money… and from the fan’s perspective, we are rightfully upset. but our perspective isn’t the only one

the orv live-action is so disappointing and annoying... how are you gonna direct an internationally beloved piece of media without understanding the fundamental aspects of the media itself... and how are you going to be so stupid as to believe that the alterations you made were for the benefit of the viewers.... who do you think your viewers are? majority of your viewers were going to be people already fans of orv and you knew that, and rather than the already existing fanbase, you just wanted to make a hit movie so you cast already popular actors who can't fucking act and then changed the core characteristics of the plot because you thought it would be more "engaging" while keeping SOME of the basic stuff in-tact just so you can claim that its a live-action when it is, in fact, just an entirely different movie... like just say inspired by at this point
