This drawing was inspired by this heirloom tomato that I found while on a trip to Aldies with my Mother. I thought it would look interesting next to a Viking glass bud vase, tall and fragile in such a different way then the tomatoes.

Monstera. 2023

One of my best models! When thinking of a still life two things come to mind, fruit which isn’t always in supply and house plants. I’ve had this miniature Monstera for about a year. My favorite part to draw today was this sad yellow leaf that was promptly removed before returning her back to the shelf she’s been flourishing on.

Sunflowers. 2023

Prismacolor pencils on Strathmore paper

This drawing was inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s sunflower paintings and an artist I saw on Instagram that was doing lovely studies of his work. I started with the armature of one of his painting, some organic lines of the leaves, and then free handed the flowers. I’m rather happy with how it all came together.
