Bayeux tapestry, is an embroidered cloth nearly 70 metres long and 50 centimetres tall, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England concerning William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex, later King of England, and culminating in the Battle of Hastings. It is thought to date to the 11th century, within a few years after the battle. It tells the story from the point of view of the conquering Normans, but is now agreed to have been made in England.
(Images are from wikipedia)
I think it is a very helpful reference for my project. Bayeux tapestry is a really amazing artwork, it shows a lot of vivid and detailed historical stories through a very special way. I can imagine the scenes of battle, what the society looks like in 11th century in Europe. The clothing, carriages, boats, troops, weapons, trees, animals, etc in Bayeux tapestry are very detailed and vital. I’m considering my project’s expression form. My initial idea is a little similar with the form of Bayeux tapestry.

Paintings based on the descriptions of landscapes in two ancient Chinese poems near the era of late Qin Dynasty. 大风歌,秋风辞
A Great Wind
Liu Bang(Translator:Burton Watson)
A great wind come forth, the clouds rose on high.
Now that my might rules all within the seas,
I have returned to my old village.
Where will I find brave men to guard the four corners of my land?
The Autumn Wind
Liu Che(Translator: Rongpei Wang)
When autumn winds are sweeping clouds away,
leaves fall and wild geese fly on southward away.(The start of the poem)
