Remember when these comics used to obey the 4 week release schedule and didn’t fall 9 months behind like they are now? Whatever happened those days of professionalism and care?

And after all this, Lanolin finally apologizes for her actions.
Again, I never hated Lanolin. She wanted to bring order to a chaotic world. To create a safe world. She did make the most logical decisions, but right now, that doesn’t matter. She still ended up trusting an enemy more than her own team. Even if she was manipulated, that doesn’t take away the guilt.
Good thing Silver’s not one to hold grudges. He knows all about making mistakes and making things right.

Welp, it's that time again.
Time for me to scream into the void about how Lanolin wasn't at fault for Mimic infiltrating the Diamond Cutters as Duo.
Tumblr media
Just... look at this. Whisper is acting kind of psycho.
She makes a wild accusation, has no proof, and it sounds like Whisper is going to possibly torture Duo based on, again, zero evidence.
Tumblr media
Look. Lanolin is trying to talk to Whisper and try to figure things out.
Whisper goes on the offensive and attacks Lanolin, ranting about "how she won't let it happen again".
Tumblr media
Mimic does this,
Tumblr media
Completely fools Silver,
Tumblr media
Completely fools Whisper,
And everything kind of goes from there.
None of this is Lanolin's fault. If Mimic can fool Whisper, who is paranoid and has known Mimic far longer than anyone else, then what chance did Lanolin have?
And a reminder, when it is revealed to Lanolin that Duo was Mimic, she doesn't double down, she falls to pieces.

for the people in the back-

Lanolin didn’t call out Silver hard enough for being an idiot with too much power. Silver IS stupid and powerful so he could easily get people killed. Silver is so stupid that his friends need to keep him from killing himself with his powers. The only thing Lanolin did wrong was sending him away instead of doing something to keep an eye on him. Silver belongs in a special needs classroom and not in missions with people’s lives on the line.

So it’s made clear Lanolin is not getting off Scot-free from this. She knows the others were right to not trust her with the truth of the Phantom Rider. She most likely wouldn’t have listened. You know it’s serious when happy, hyper Tangle is mad! But what matters now is getting everyone to safety. She’s still trying to do her job and help people.
I would like to say I never hated Lanolin. I got mad, sure, but never hated her. She was trying to bring order to a chaotic world. But she took things too seriously, and you know she’s someone one who doesn’t take mistakes well either. Lanolin might also have been a bit biased with Duo because, like her, he didn’t have much experience like the others. He played off as being weak, but someone had to fall for it to make it truly effective. She can still grow from this, and be a better teammate and friend.

Hey, Ian. Weren’t you hired to rewrite the script for this game? If so, why is this plot hole still here?

Hey, @spiritsonic, I hope this means there will be bi-weekly releases coming. The only way this would still be in the Knuckles 30th Anniversary comic is if it’s still true. Do not lie to me and say Issue 100 won’t be released on the 35th Anniversary like it’s supposed to be.

"I didn't want anyone to have to feel that way.."
Now. After reading this short comic made by one of the Sonic IDW comic artists, Adam Bryce Thomas, I'm starting to understand Lanolin the Sheep a lot. comic here
The short sketched comic explains a realistic depiction of the whole collateral damage from the endless battles between Sonic and Eggman. There may be victory from the heroes, but let's not forget about the damage those battles had caused. Lanolin was a part of this. She didn't expect this to happen, and because of that, she wanted to make a difference despite her serious personality around the Restoration (let's not forget that PTSD can change you a lot, and this war never ever ends). Even if she looked up to Sonic for being the infamous Hero he is, she has never forgotten the destruction caused by him and Eggman. She may have resentment on Sonic for that, because if you think about it.. Sonic messed up a lot, and he has spared Eggman many times already when he had the chance to stop him. Wouldn't this cycle of war all be over if Sonic FINALLY defeated Eggman? And if that were the case, then Lanolin wouldn't have to go through so much. The remains of Eggman's robots after Infinite's reign, the Metal Virus, Surge and Kit's attacks... Lanolin couldn't catch a break.
If there wes a scene of Lanolin snapping at Sonic and the other heroes for not handling things well, for not finishing the job, and for all of the hell she and other innocent people have gone through.. I'd say: "Y'know what? That's completely understandable.."
Lanolin wants to at least help because she never wanted anyone to go through the bad shit she went. Of course, she admits to everyone that she's not as experienced as the others and may come off as bossy and strict, but she wants EVERYTHING to be okay or it'll end up a disaster (Kinda like Miguel O'Hara when he admits he's been trying to hold the Spider-verse together as it really messed him up after his mistake). Honestly, I love her development from being a helpless citizen in the background to being a soldier of the Restoration and leader of the new team, The Diamond Cutters. However, things might go south cause of.. *coughs* Mimic, Surge, Kit, Clutch & Eggman.... *coughs* Well, let's see how this goes.
Btw, if you want more of these defenses of Lanolin and her character, try to look into @sage-nebula, @fazar234 and @kingmaxstatic's analysis of her!! They're so good and give me a better understanding of the character!! @sage-nebula: Lanolin has PTSD @fazar234: Understanding Lanolin @kingmaxstatic: In Defense Of Lanolin, A Post About Perspective, Flaws and Development.

(Diff anon) It just seems to be an everlasting curse with Sonic characters when it comes to Sonic adaptions. (I know there were likely outside factors for why the Knuckles series ended up the way it did. But, it just brings the question of why make it at all [or be somewhat deceptive with the marketing] if this is going to be the end result.)
It's one thing if Knuckles and Wade were equal in focus, it's another when one feels like a side event half the time. (And it's the title character.)
I've said it before but it seems that Sonic adaptations seem to have a pathological inability to focus on the things most appealing about Sonic and are insistent on fixating on annoying spotlight stealers.

“…under no obligation to please the world.”
Oh, a pity how blind you are to the world we live in.
Can you and the rest of the staff stop making references to the bad games like Shadow, 2006, Black Knight and Forces? This franchise needs to be better, and that can’t happen if critics are constantly reminded of this franchise’s miserable failures.
"Bad" is a relative term. I have a close friend whose favorite game in the whole series is Shadow TH; it was there for them at an important time, and brought immense comfort and strength. Sonic '06 gave me my favorite Sonic character, Silver, who was central to me figuring myself out as I came of age. Black Knight tells one of my favorite Sonic stories, and I can't describe the excitement I felt when I heard a traditional English folk song, one I had been learning in my studies of Celtic music and loved dearly, used in-game. We wouldn't have Whisper the Wolf without Forces. And beyond me and mine, there are countless fans finding wonder and meaning in every single Sonic game, despite their flaws. While I agree that self-reflection and critique is essential to any creative endeavor, it can be done without shame. I would never choose to deny the recognition and celebration of their joy, or ignore the beauty to be found in the imperfect.
Assigning too much value to the judgement of others is self-destructive. Sonic fans don't need the Sonic series to be "good" or "respectable" to love themselves, because they are human beings whose worth is infinitely greater than a video game's metacritic score. Be cringe, be free.
