Cheat Sheets for Writing Body Language

We are always told to use body language in our writing. Sometimes, it’s easier said than written. I decided to create these cheat sheets to help you show a character’s state of mind. Obviously, a character may exhibit a number of these behaviours. For example, he may be shocked and angry, or shocked and happy. Use these combinations as needed.

How to write a kiss scene

requested by: anon request: How do I write a good kiss scene? As how do I describe it? What details or words would make it good?

What goes into the writing of a kiss scene?

details to incorporate:

the sensations in their stomach, their chest, and their knees

the way their breathing changes shortly before the kiss

the feeling of the other's hands

the texture of the other's clothing

the moment they realise they've reached the point of no return

the feeling they're left with after the kiss

words to use...

wrapping their arms around their lover's neck

intertwining their fingers with their lover

resting on their lover's hips

pressing into their lover's shoulder blades

cupping their lover's cheeks

touching their lover's chin

curling their arm around their lover's waist

resting on their lover's shoulders

grabbing their lover's collar

sneaking up under their lover's shirt

brushing over their lover's bare skin

lightly squeezing their lover's butt

focus on:

the sensations instead of what's physically happening. (the protagonists might very well not know themselves what is happening exactly, but they feel very precisely)

Hey, y'all! I got bored with the character-sheet templates I was using because one had too much detail and the other, not enough. So, I decided to combine them, taking aspects of both so that I have a template that is somewhere in the middle. Арсений никогда не встречал человека, который любил обниматься так сильно как Антон. При встрече, по утрам, после долгого рабочего дня или даже в перерывах между съемками. Причем, казалось, что это желание было у него абсолютно бессознательным, потому что даже ночью Арсений то и дело просыпался от того, что Антон прижимался к его спине, а на талии лежала его рука.

И если первое время их отношений Арсений не понимал этой тяги и зачастую просто терялся, не зная, как реагировать, то постепенно он все же проникся его безграничной любовью к объятиям, а дома и вовсе не редко сам начал становиться инициатором.

Ведь было безумно приятно ощущать теплые руки, которые крепко обхватывали его за талию или плечи и притягивали к себе донельзя близко, чувствовать, как Антон выводил на его спине витиеватые узоры кончиками пальцев, тихо дышал, уткнувшись в макушку, или шептал ему всякие глупости в ухо, пока сам Арсений стоял, уткнувшись ему в шею, водил кончиком носа по линии челюсти, оставляя там поцелуи и, наконец, вдыхал поглубже уже родной запах Антона вперемешку с выветрившимся за день одеколоном.

Арсений искренне наслаждался каждым таким моментом спокойствия и безмятежности, когда он мог чувствовать себя миниатюрным, а иногда и немного хрупким в любимых руках, ощущать бесконечную поддержку и опору и просто знать, что Антон был рядом и пока не сбежал от него ни по каким делам. Хотя куда бы их не заносила нелегкая, все пути в итоге вели к тому, что Арсений вновь оказывался в родных объятиях.
