The Valley of Joseph.. We marched forward, battered by the wind. The sleet giving us chilled reminders of the ice that used to occupy this land. The photo prior to this is one of the 65 that made up this panoramic. The gents can be seen to the right of the valley, heading towards Franz Joseph Glacier, which has receded further than ever before.. To try and show scale and size here is near impossible. As with many or natures wonders and beauties, they must be experienced not just viewed on a screen... The trek to Franz Joseph Glacier. To fully understand this photo, you must factor in scale and immense size... Where we walked the earth displays its natural rock carvings, with the wind blowing sleet and rain straight at us. We marched through what used to be under at least 30meters of ice, a frozen river of glacial ice, once triumphant and solid. Franz Joseph Glacier once engulfed this entire valley for 40km.
