CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Directs All Stakeholders to Ensure Foolproof Arrangements on ‘Ashura’

Lahore, 24 June 2025:

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a special meeting with regard to reviewing arrangements on the eve of Muharram-ul-Haram in which important decisions were being taken. She sought an immediate emergency plan from the administration. She directed to ensure strict implementation of the code of conduct and further directed to adopt zero-tolerance for committing violations of the code of conduct.

She directed to immediately arrest those found involved in spreading hateful content on the social media. She directed to ensure a complete ban on displaying banners, posters and wall-chalking throughout the province. She directed to immediately arrest those violating the ban on flying drones during Muharram-ul-Haram. She directed the Provincial Ministers, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, RPOs and DPOs to personally oversee arrangements of Muharram-ul-Haram. She also directed all stakeholders to personally visit the scholars.

The Chief Minister directed the Safe City Authority to make functional out of order cameras and further directed the Special Monitoring Unit to monitor and report on hateful content. She directed to launch mock drills of security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram and further directed to install ‘sabeels’ in a uniform manner for Muharram processions and gatherings. She also directed to provide refreshing drinks, lemon water and cold water bottles to the participants during Muharram processions along with identification and monitoring of sabeels. It was agreed to install iron pipes for security purposes during Muharram-ul-Haram processions and gatherings.

She directed to set up a sprinkling of water to protect the mourners and participants from severe affects of heat and humidity. She directed to formulate a formidable plan to protect the mourners from heatstroke. She directed to set up field hospitals and clinics on wheels along with ‘Ashura’ processions and further directed to issue effective traffic management plan as well as timely traffic advisories. On this occasion, she called for making arrangements to ensure timely drainage of water in case of rainfall.

The Chief Minister also directed steps to activate Hotel Eye and Travel Eye and continue the combing operation along with obtaining an anti-drone system. She while addressing the meeting said that SOPs of Muharram-ul-Haram should be seen to be implemented in letter and spirit. Hanging electric wires poses a big risk, emergency operations should be carried out in this regard. There should be no power outage at all during ‘Ashura’ processions and gatherings, street lights should not be turned off either.

She censured that people are still falling and dying in manholes and directed private housing societies to fix sewer covers in their respective societies and other areas as well. Patchwork is done every year on Muharram, how come potholes resurface on the procession routes again? In the context of war, Muharram-ul-Haram should be considered highly sensitive, Pakistan’s enemies will not let the opportunity go. She said that negative forces are unnerved over the success of the operation ‘Buyan-um-Marsoos’, adding that all stakeholders must remain alert all the time.

She highlighted that the Punjab government carries the impression of a service-oriented government, it must be maintained and enhanced. She emphasized that arrangements should be made even better than before. She directed the cabinet members to perform their duties effectively in their relevant districts. She maintained that stakeholders should be included and informed in all important decisions. She outlined that the public should see the writ of the government prevailing everywhere in an effective manner.

The Chief Minister said, “Public committees should be made active and fully mobilized in all districts. Last year, arrangements being made on Muharram-ul-Haram were appreciated and even the Shiites acknowledged them. High standards of service delivery were set, a clear difference was felt during the Eid operation. It is our first and foremost responsibility to safeguard the country and the nation from hatred, prejudice and disunity. Division and hatred are poisonous for the new generation and we want to eliminate it at all costs. There is a dire need to take effective and sustainable measures to eradicate hatred and prejudice.”

She maintained, “The state should play role of a mother and this feeling should be felt and highlighted at every level. Control rooms should be fully activated at the provincial, divisional and district levels, I will personally visit any place. We broke the record of the best arrangements being made during the last Eid, and now even better arrangements should be made for Muharram-ul-Haram. I commend all deputy commissioners, local governments and other departments on making excellent Eid arrangements.” Home Secretary, IG Police and heads of other institutions gave a detailed briefing on the Muharram-ul-Haram arrangements.

Message of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif on International Day of Women in Diplomacy

Lahore, 24 June 2025:

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her message on the International Day of Women in Diplomacy has paid glowing tributes to the women diplomats. She lauded, “Audacious women who play a historic role in the field of diplomacy are the nation’s valuable asset. When women play a leading role in the field of diplomacy, it amalgamates peace and humanity. A visually impaired Pakistani female diplomat proved her capabilities in the United Nations forum.”

She highlighted, “I while attending the Anatolian Diplomacy Forum made it amply clear that Pakistani women are not mere representatives but policymakers and an effective diplomatic force as well.” She maintained, “My visit to China as a female Chief Minister of Punjab turned out to be diplomatically and economically historic. China’s visit opened new avenues of employment along with chalking out collaboration with the Chinese companies in the fields of agriculture, industry, infrastructure and technology.”

اور اہل تشیع نے بھی تعریف کی۔ سروس ڈیلیوری کا اعلیٰ معیار مقرر کیا، عید آپریشن پر واضح فرق محسوس کیا گیا۔و زیراعلیٰ مریم نواز شریف نے کہا کہ ملک و قوم کو نفرت، تعصب اور تفرقہ بازی سے بچانا ہماری ذمہ داری ہے۔ تفرقہ اور نفرت نئی نسل کے لئے زہر ناک ہے، ہر قیمت پر خاتمہ چاہتے ہیں۔ نفرت اور تعصب کے خاتمے لئے موثر اور پائیدار اقدامات کی ضرورت ہے۔ وزیراعلیٰ مریم نواز شریف نے کہا کہ ریاست ماں کی طرح ہونے کا احساس پوری طرح ہر سطح پر اجاگر کیا جائے۔صوبائی، ڈویژنل اور ڈسٹرکٹ سطح پر کنٹرول روم پوری کی طرح فعال کیے جائیں، کسی بھی جگہ خود دورہ کروں گی۔ ہم نے گزشتہ عید کے بہترین انتظامات کا ریکارڈ خود توڑا، محرم کے انتظامات بھی شاندار ہونے چاہئیں۔ عید انتظامات پر سب ڈپٹی کمشنروں اور لوکل گورنمنٹ اور دیگر محکموں کو شاباش دیتی ہوں۔ ہوم سیکرٹری، آئی جی پولیس اور دیگر اداروں کے سربراہان نے محرم انتظامات پر تفصیلی بریفنگ دی۔

لاہور24 - جون:……وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب مریم نواز شریف نے انٹرنیشنل ڈے آف ویمن ان ڈپلومیسی پر خواتین سفارتکاروں کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کیا ہے۔ وزیراعلیٰ مریم نواز شریف نے کہا ہے کہ سفارتکاری کے میدان میں تاریخ ساز کردار ادا کرنے والی باہمت خواتین قوم کا سرمایہ ہیں۔ جب خواتین سفارتکاری کی قیادت کرتی ہیں تو یہ ڈپلومیسی امن اور انسانیت کا امتزاج بن جاتی ہے۔بصارت سے محروم پاکستانی خاتون سفارتکار نے اقوام متحدہ میں اپنی بصیرت کا لوہا منوایا۔وزیراعلیٰ مریم نواز شریف نے کہا کہ اناطولیہ ڈپلومیسی فورم میں واضح کر دیا کہ پاکستان کی عورت محض نمائندہ نہیں، پالیسی ساز اور موثر سفارتی قوت ہے۔ بطور خاتون وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب، چین کادورہ سفارتی اور معاشی طور پر تاریخ ساز رہا۔ وزیراعلیٰ مریم نواز شریف نے کہا کہ دورہ چین سے زراعت،صنعت، انفراسٹرکچر، ٹیکنالوجی میں اشتراک اور روزگارکے نئے دروازے کھولے گئے۔

Message of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif on International Widows Day

 

Lahore, 23 June 2025: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her message on International Widows Day said that the religion of Islam has persuaded its followers to give due respect to the widows as well as equal rights. She highlighted, “The widows are a collective responsibility of a civilized society. Women who have become widows during wars in Kashmir, Gaza and Iran is a big question mark on the global conscience.’’

 

She outlined, “The Punjab government is not only providing sympathy to the widows but due care and support as well. The widows or single mothers are being given foremost priority in the ‘Apni Chhat, Apni Ghar’ program.” She emphasised, “Children of widows are also being given priority while granting ‘Honhaar’ scholarships. The Women Protection Authority and the Social Welfare department are ensuring due support and care for the widows across Punjab.”

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Pays Tribute to Sanitation Heroes

Lahore, 21 June 2025:

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif handed over to sanitation workers cheques of prize money for their unprecedented and lightning-fast sanitation services on Eid-ul-Azha. She had announced a reward of Rs. 10,000 each for workers for the best sanitation arrangements on the three days of Eid-ul-Azha. A magnificent tribute was paid to sanitation workers in splendid ceremonies held in 123 tehsils across Punjab. Sanitation workers danced with joy, and performed bhangra to the beat of drums. They were overwhelmed with joy at the unprecedented reception for the first time. Public representatives along with Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners participated in these ceremonies held in the honor of sanitation workers.

On the direction of Madam Chief Minister, a sumptuous meal was also served to the sanitation workers. Cakes were cut in different cities in their honor, at which they were pleasantly surprised to see such a magnificent and sumptuous celebrations. They said,"Madam Chief Minister has set an example to follow by honoring the sanitation workers." One of the sanitation workers said,"I can't believe such an event can happen for us too." Another said,"Thank you Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, we can never forget these moments of happiness."

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,"Sanitation workers are the beauty of our society." She added,"Cleanliness arrangements under 'Clean Punjab' program on Eid-ul-Azha were appreciated across the country." She highlighted,"Credit for the success of cleanliness campaign goes to the sanitation workers, they continued to work even in the scorching heat."

Madam Chief Minister said,"On behalf of people of Punjab, I pay my heartfelt tribute to sanitation workers." She added,"Their hard work and dedication is worthy of imitation by others." She underscored,"An example of fast-paced sanitation was set on Eid-ul-Adha which will be remembered for a long time." On her direction, a documentary film related to Eid-ul-Adha Clean Punjab program was also shown in these ceremonies.

Another Historic Step to Ensure Welfare of Southern Punjab's Poor Women: CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif to Give Cattle Worth Rs 2 Billion to Rural Women in 12 Districts

Lahore, 21 June 2025:

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif took another historic step for the financial empowerment and socio-economic development of women living in villages of southern Punjab, as she arranged a better source of employment for the poor and needy rural women. She said,"Poor widows living in villages will get buffaloes and cows. 11,000 rural women will be given buffaloes and cows with a budget of Rs 2 billion in 12 districts of southern Punjab." She added,"4870 cattle will be given in the first phase of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s unprecedented program." She highlighted,"CM Punjab Livestock Assets Program aims to increase milk production and provide employment to rural women at home."

Madam Chief Minister said,"Under the Chief Minister Livestock Assets Program, rural women in Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah and Kot Addu will get free cattle. In Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur too, rural women will get free cattle for a better livelihood." She added,"Divorced and widowed poor women up to the age of 55 can also apply through the app while sitting at home." She noted,"Rural women can also contact 'Chief Minister Facilitation Desk' at the Animal Hospital to get free cattle."

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,"Elimination of poverty gap between villages and cities is our resolve." She added,"Economic development is also the right of a daughter living in villages." She emphasised,"Equal economic opportunities are being provided in cities and villages. Whether a woman lives in a city or in a village, education, health and employment are her basic rights."

Lahore() Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, strongly responded to opposition allegations during her speech in the Punjab Assembly, stating that in the past, democratic voices were suppressed in the House, but under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, every member now enjoys complete freedom of expression.

She emphasized that the current budget prioritizes public welfare. A substantial Rs. 300 billion has been allocated for law and order, and the Punjab police have been equipped with modern weapons, transforming them into an effective force against terrorism. Police posts have now been established across the province, even in remote riverine areas.

Azma Bokhari highlighted that Rs. 811 billion has been allocated for the education sector. This includes school upgrades, establishment of modern IT labs, provision of new furniture, distribution of Google certifications, laptops, and scholarships. She added that although a false case was filed against Shahbaz Sharif’s laptop scheme, its positive impact is now clearly visible.

In the health sector, Rs. 630 billion has been earmarked. This includes revamping of public hospitals, provision of free medicines, improvements in health clinics, and the deployment of young doctors. Medical services are now available at the Union Council level, and free medications are being provided for serious diseases such as cancer, hepatitis, and tuberculosis.

On the matter of local government elections, Bokhari reminded the opposition that it was they who once dissolved elected local bodies in Punjab. She confirmed that the process for new local elections is already underway.

Responding to the opposition leader’s claim that the government has launched no development projects, she said sarcastically, “Langar Khane" is development?” She pointed out that projects like the Cancer Hospital, Cardiology Hospital, Suthra Punjab Health Clinics, and Clinic-on-Wheels are real milestones—though conveniently ignored by the opposition.

Bokhari further asserted that Maryam Nawaz’s governance model is non-political and people-centered. Scholarships are being given to talented students without regard to political affiliation. While previous governments remained limited to urban areas, Maryam Nawaz is extending development to rural regions.

Speaking on South Punjab, Azma Bokhari remarked, “Those who once promised a new province in 100 days are now questioning our intentions.” She listed ongoing projects in the region, including the Khichi Canal in Taunsa, a shrimp farming pilot project in Muzaffargarh, a new medical college in Layyah, and a girls' hostel at the Multan University of Health Sciences.

Regarding inflation, she noted that Maryam Nawaz holds three to four meetings per week focused on the issue, personally monitoring prices of essential items such as potatoes, onions, and tomatoes.

In conclusion, Azma Bokhari issued a stern warning to the opposition: “Misconduct, abusive language, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. If the opposition crosses the line, they will be responded to in kind.”
