“Please. I am a Doctor.”
He would act offended upon her threat. As well he would realize she’d slow down to keep with his pace.
“What I do, I do with the best interest of my patients in mind.”
Waddling through the ashy, half destroyed streets, Doctor Ockham would have little to no curiosity as to why this had happened. He found out, that, in the end, most apocaliptic worlds like these could be narrowed down to two possible reasons: Humanity’s stupidity or Humanity’s powerlessness. It all was a variation of one of the two.
But then again, he was neither stupid nor powerless, so he couldnt relate to the strife any of these people went through.

“Oh just my tools dear. Trusty things for nasty jobs that do good. Sometimes a tooth must be plucked out, other times a rib, othertimes a full organ. Depends on the ocasion really.”

“Well maybe next time you should mind where you fall asleep.” the Doctor scolded her.
Rustling over the pillows in the bed, hed try to find anything relevant, like hairs, scabs or blood, but not much had survived the passage of time.
Tumblr media
“I don't know child, I warped into here.” he stretched his back for a brief second, his bones cracked loudly as he would soon reform his hunched pose. “Have really you no recollection of how you entered this place?”

The doctor would waddle alongside the Android, struggling to keep even the most moderate of paces.
Tumblr media
“Oh no treatment for that, I’m afraid. We can only hope to remedy the damage done, and make as many people aware of the dangers of violence... Through words or punishment, at the very least.”
Just as he said that he rustled the medical bag he was carrying, and it made a quiver of metallic noises.

However hopeful he was, he clung to her advice and listened carefully to her praxis. Normally, he’d be critical of other practitioners, but too many of his leeches had died before he had admitted to himself that he was no animal doctor.
“If only they were human, I could’ve saved them myself!” he mumbled to himself.
Listening to the end of her recommended therapy he effusively nodded, holding the jar of yeast. This was medicine like he had never heard about. It mostly sounded like reaching methods that devised more use of prayer than actual, empirical science, but alas, he was desperate, so he nodded once more and thanked her.
“Oh thank you are too kind, Madam.” Doctor Ockham collected the jar of infected Leeches once more and shoved it back in his medical bag alongside the yeast. “Let us hope that your remedy works.”
Tumblr media
And if it didn't, he’d personally raise a complaint. Oh, she would hear about him. Clean water, feed them fishes and not corpses, and sprinkle yeast like if he was making bread... Such a reckless method! But then again, he was desperate.
“Have a good day Madam!” the doctor then waved off to her and disposed to make his exit.

“THEN YOU SHOULD, BOY!” Doctor Ockham boomed his voice, encroaching onto the small figure with his black mass. “Iron is extremely important in the well regulation of the body and its systems! Almost as important as water, mercury or Gold!”
Opening his bag of medical nightmares right in front of him, he’d rustle through the different blood-stained tools before pulling out a small fad of spoons all wrapped up in dirty brown paper and tied with a small yarn cord.
“Here boy, Open wide.” he said before pushing the spoons onto his face.

Doctor Ockham would observe, and observe interested the progression of the boy, slowly churning out the malice that held him. With a curious head tilt, he observed the dark substance dripping onto the floor then back to the new increasingly disfigured being in front of him.
“I see only that of a Common flu, child.” he shrugged, not realizing the danger before it struck.
Rolling on the ground, the doctor would only notice the scope of it, as his own great figure was knocked and pushed on the ground. Silver eyes glistened with gold tint as he observed the tendril that had struck him.
“Oh... I see... so its like...?” he mumbled, his mind racing. “Oho! AHA! EHE! UHU! YES- HM! YES... I see...”
He kept muttering to himself as he struggled to stand up once more.
“I think you have  SEVERE case of the common flu.” he would open his medical bag and change tools, opting for a weird and soiled bonesaw alongside a pair of tweezers. “Not to worry, I just have such a tool for certain occasions...”

However rude it was to make such a remark, he had just waltzed in with no warning so he kept somewhat silent to himself while the scolding continued.
“On the contrary Madam.” he would clear his throat. “I’ve come for you.”
Tumblr media
Without much ado, he would fetch from his bag a big jar. Its thick glass enabled to look inside clearly, and what this jar held was leeches. Lots of them. Prattling about in a water as dark and thick as muck.
But the leeches were not that active, most of them chosing to law at the bottom and remain still. Some even were dead.
“Its my babies you see, they’ve gotten that of an infection of the skin, and I cant seem to treat them myself. They refuse to eat now, and they are slowly starving to death” his vice sounded overcharged with grief, like a mother weeping at her sons grave. “Please help my babies...”
🌸 @dr-ockham has answered the call !! 🌸
Folding herself into her basement once more, Hikari had splayed freshly plucked herbs and tubers across a polished and clean wooden desk, hand made from rich snakewood. The mortar and pestle that rested nearby along with several jugs of water framed the area that was– her workspace. Not a paper out of place from the handwritten leather-bound journals that piled the bookshelves which had long since run out of space.
Not even she knew how she managed to keep so organized. Was it the vampirism or her own goal of healing that made her so driven to keep her little green haven clean as a whistle? Aside from the various machines constructed together by a dear, dear friend (a soap press and some various distillers) and the desk, it was very barren. Maybe she should put up a poster or something?
Grinding the marigold and parsley into a fresh lotion for bruising, she became quickly lost in thought. The blender on a nearby table was already loaded with beeswax from her outside hives and oil for the lotion. She was about to load up when a dark presence behind her made her stiffen and summon Mother Nature’s Son, her head turning back.
“Hallow’s Eve ain’t fer a few months, pal. Diggin’ the plague doctor look, though. If yer here fer some lotions or some herbs y’ can sit wherever. I’d appreciate knockin’ next time, m'kay?”

“Then you dont have customers, you silly feline. You have trade partners.” the Demiurge didn't take long to correct her.

“Also, I don't think that's a very profitable endeavour. Nobody will release a valuable secret without obtaining a great sum for it, probably more than you’d get by selling it out yourself.”

“Then why did you come here in the first place, child?” the Doctor squeaked. “Seems eerily counterproductive to me~!”
Tumblr media
Doctor Ockham would prattle about, checking each empty and musky bed for the practising doctor’s report. However, as interesting as it was, the girl seemed to be in a bit of a panic.
“Then take the door, child, the door you used to enter here, of course. Then walk a bit, then eureka! You will be out...”

“Should we stop this?” asked the first, high pitched voice.
“Should we knock her unconscious?” followed the second one, in a more low tone.
“We should trap her in her own mind.” followed the third, using a weird accent.
“No...” first muttered the fourth and last. “We will do all of that. And more.”
Celeste’s mind went blank as everything else she could then see turned black. Churned dark ink bleeding for every pore, every atom until eventually, everything was pitch black. No night sky, no street lamp, no raging fire would illuminate where she was.
Only one thing stood out in the blackness. A pearly white mask. Doctor Ockham’s mask.
Once her eyes poured onto the white surface of the porcelain, she felt her mind being violated. Private thougths, memories, knowledge, passwords, secrets... All being bled out as the Good Doctor spoke.
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry Celeste. I can't let you just run away like that.”
The Demiurge took a deep breath, sipping in as much information he could do at the time. A peaceful, yet deeply unsettling sigh later, the Doctor would speak. Her stand was nowhere to be seen.
“You prefer Celeste, right?” the Mindrazor was doing its work, tearing through her memories like a hot butter through knife. “Of course you do. You know, Celeste, you do seem to like to meet very dangerous people.”
A short silence.
“I’m not the first one. Not by a long shot, no- Huhu! Haha!”

“Taste is anything but pointless, you fool! Mother nature is wise, and implemented such a mechanism to prevent the living creatures from getting killed by that what they ingested.” Doctor Ockham huffed in disbelief. “ ‘Taste is pointless’!? You, sir, are a charlatan!”
Picking up the ends of his robes he would throw them back at the ground to visually make flesh his frustration.
“Even with your Leech-hating ways...! I have to agree with that last statement. There’s certainly a bias to our work tools.”
A grumble, as he considered his words once more. Maybe it could be said that he also was prideful. But his Leeches rarely failed him.
Tumblr media
“You are forgiven, sir” he squawked, finally giving into his apology. “I might be also a bit zealous when it comes to my Bloodsuckers, but we must do what we believe thats best for our dear patients, hm- Yes!”
