Since it's Deuce's birthday at the time of writing this ask? Do you think that he and Happiny will have a pajama party?

I think so! There's also a part of me that thinks that because Deuce and Happiny (and by extension, Ace and Milcery) share a space with two other Heartslabyul students, they'd probably have to figure something out. I can see a pajama movie night with the others, although they'd need to set-up a projector or watch on a computer.

Happiny and Milcery would probably work with Soni to make some simple late night snacks. Berries and chocolate chips from the pantry like a trail mix since it's simple and easy to make. There's definitely popcorn being served, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had to make it in a pot if only because 1) it would add a nice experience to the night, 2) they can eat it out of the pot once it's done cooking, and 3) popcorn is a must-have on movie nights, especially pajama movie nights.

Everyone's having a good time. And I can see Soni being intrigued by the use of magic in some movies if there's any. They could check out some of Vil's movies, and if there's any of those special features/behind-the-scenes type of content, they could potentially see Bidoof in the background.

I saw an ask for Happiny's birthday. How would Soni celebrate her birthday in Twisted wonderland?

Oh, I'm pretty sure that Soni would have a pretty simple birthday celebration. If she wanted to, she'd make her own birthday cake, mostly because she has the means to do so.

I actually want to write this out in the story since Soni's birthday is in November, and that'll be really fun to explore in the fic proper.

I understand if you are busy. But in the Eternal Blooming Flower, will there be a chance for Soni to catch a new Pokemon for her team?

As much as it would be cool for Soni to get new Pokemon (and it's always fun to think about that sort of thing), I don't really see that happening in the fic. Because in my mind, Soni already has the Pokemon that she needs (both for the story and power-wise) and doesn't have a reason to catch more.

On a writing level, it's simply not practical or reasonable. Compared to having more Pokémon introduced and fleshing them out to make sense for the narrative than to simply use pre-existing Pokémon who already exist in the story, it's obvious which one I'd take.

It forces me as a writer to think of all the angles that one Pokemon can fulfill in a group setting than to slap a new Pokemon on and call it a day. Which is both challenging for me and fun to explore on how far certain Pokemon's limits can go and how any character would have to navigate those limits with that knowledge. After all, Pokemon are characters too, so of course I want to do the best I can with the characters already available in my story to avoid bogging it down.

If there needs to be a Pokemon added (which will be a question that is inevitable in Pokemon fics), I have to ask myself two basic questions: what good comes for this character to catch the Pokemon? And what does that result for the story in the long term?

It was on a beautiful moonlit night when the Champion of Kalos had gone missing. No calls. No texts, aside from one to her grandmother. No one knew where she was, but most believed she would be fine. After all, she was the strongest trainer in the region. Who would mess with her? Night Raven College very much did not get that memo. The one to not mess with the non-magic human with scary monsters who would and could raze the school to the ground if it meant getting their ramshackle of a dorm fixed. No, that threat does not (surprisingly) include Grim because he was the normal monster of the bunch.

Yet another AO3 bot situation - please spread the word!

Hi, it's me again, the person who wrote that viral post about fanfiction plagiarism! Today I'm here to warn you about abuse perpetrated by bots who have stolen AO3 usernames.

There's currently an epidemic of bots going around leaving (apparently random) horrible, hateful comments on people's fics. This isn't the first time bots have invaded AO3, but the big problem with this wave is that they're using real AO3 usernames to do it.

I learned about this when another writer contacted me after receiving the following comment on their story:

Now, while that is my username, I DEFINITELY did not leave this comment (and anyone who would leave something like that on a fic should be slapped! What an awful thing to post). This fic is in a completely unrelated fandom that I have never participated in, nor has that author participated in any of my fandoms, so the probability of it being some intentional fandom drama thing to make me look bad is also low.

The writer whose fic the comment was left on enlisted the aid of some friends and tracked down other guest comments with unrelated usernames attached, which is pretty strong evidence that they are being left by bots at random.

The TL;DR: If you receive a cruel comment from a (Guest) with an actual AO3 username attached, it's most likely from a bot. Please do not lash out at or dogpile the AO3 user who owns that name, and who in all likelihood has no idea that their name has been hijacked for evil.

If finding this kind of comment on a fic, even left by a bot, is likely to upset you, I would recommend changing your comment settings so that only users who are logged in can leave comments. To do this, edit your story settings, and under "Privacy," select the radio button that says "Only registered users can comment," as shown below.

Please spread the word to other AO3 users! And if you see mean guest comments on other fics, maybe let the author know that it's probably from a bot and not a real person who thinks their writing is bad.

Today's is Deuce's birthday! What's Happiny's reaction to the Platinum suit would be?

It's been so long since I've answered one of these, but I think Happiny's general reaction to Deuce's suit is that he's shiny. Also, he's holding doughnuts, which I assume he brought with him as a snack for the Pokemon.

Happiny just stares at Deuce's suit, poking at the material: "Happiny Hap!" So shiny! Like Mr. Cater's phone after a cleaning day!

Deuce would probably tell Happiny to only take one of them since they were planning on a dinner party at Ramshackle Dorm later with the others, so Happiny's taking the longest time in choosing one.

Happiny, looking at the doughnuts with the most concentrated look on her face: "Happiny Hap. Happiny!" I like the pink one, but the chocolate one looks tasty. I like a lot of them!

Sebek who has been holding onto his doughnut just looks at Deuce: "Human, why is it that your little familiar is taking so long with her sweets?!"

Deuce: "Hey, give her some time. She's probably stuck on choosing. Didn't you ever have the same thing growing up?"

Sebek, who has absolutely done it at least once in his life and doesn't want to admit it: "Just don't take twenty minutes on choosing a doughnut flavor!"

Happiny settles on a strawberry crumble doughnut. She thinks the ones made by Trey are tastier if only because it's Mr. Trey and the Alcremies making them.

I like to imagine that Happiny and Deuce share a similar color theme whenever it's their birthdays, mostly because it's cute. A silvery bow for Happiny, even though it's Deuce's birthday.

So for those who don't know, I'm editing TEBF! I haven't done major edits, mostly due to school and other obligations preventing me from doing so, but I've found the time to slowly edit the chapters!

This means that I decided to add to chapters like descriptions, character reactions, and more that help flesh it out better.

I didn't know what to add in my previous (mostly grammatical) edits of the chapters, mostly because they were fine as they were. But now I want them to be better.

Or at least, better than before.

As such, newly edited chapters will be marked with a 🌷near the chapter title.
