I know I haven’t posted anything in a bit but it’s because I’ve been waiting to share this with you guys! I’m very excited to share this new commission done by the lovely @carasalexandra Of course it turned out amazing and looks so beautiful! @carasalexandra really did such an amazing job drawing Elain and Lucien! And the way she draws horses is just incredible. The horse looks so realistic and beautiful as well. Thank you so much @carasalexandra for taking this commission idea and turning it into this lovely piece of art 💕

Sry but this is my favourite topic. This scene is SO important and says so much in my eyes.

The mere fact Cassian feels the need to mention all of this, while his attention all evening long is entirely on Nesta. It’s no side information, it’s literally this entire paragraph dedicated to Elain in the Hewn City.

« Elain in black was ridiculous. Yes, she was beautiful but the color of her long-sleeved modest gown leached the brightness from her face. It wore her, rather than the other was around.

Cassian mentioning this since he’s Prythian’s biggest fashionista. Because it’s fun rating outfits, I guess.

He knew the cruelty of the Hewn City troubled her. But she hasn’t hesitated to come. When Feyre had offered to let her remain home, Elain had squared her shoulders and declared that she was part of this court and would do whatever was needed.

It’s whatever was needed not anything in her power. Difference. Squaring her shoulders like she’s bracing herself. Like it’s an obligation. While her sisters are literally thriving next to her.

So Elain had let her golden-brown hair down tonight and pinned it back with twin combs of pearl.

I MEAN.

He’d never once in the two years he’d known her found Elain to be plein. But wearing black, no matter how much she claimed to be part of this court, it sucked the life from her. »

It’s not about the color and it’s not about the dress. Without any context this scene reads pretty obviously.
