She fell asleep in his office again. She was waiting for him, but one meeting took a little too long before she dozed off.

one of the worst things about being champion is the constant bureaucratic meetings either between different regions or the town councils within the region and the subsequent paperwork which comes with it. you spend more time dealing with this than actual battling most days and Lance knows better than anyone given how long he's been champion for just how tedious these days can be.
wincing as he steps into the office realising he's late to meet shay, he's partially through his apology when he stops abruptly, seeing her fast asleep within the comfortable chair to his desk. it's a fond sight; something he used to see a lot way back when they often camped together, finding her curled up near the fire, and it brings back warm memories.
he decides in that moment to let her rest. she's been doing a lot recently with the new dragon kits and he recalls how tiring that can be. in one fluid motion his cape is unclasped and draped around her shoulders as a makeshift blanket, before he settles down in the seat opposite to silently continue work, sometimes looking back at her with that same familial admiration in his gaze as he's had for years now.

also I'd love to eventually write battle threads but my toxic trait is that I get frustrated any time lance loses because dice rolls hate me so I'm permanently stuck in dumb baby jail until I can deal with that. one day.
#i think part of it stems from the fact lance is often seen as one of the weakest champions#completely disregarding the fact he runs TWO regions as sole champ#PLUS is next in line for clan leader/protector#and it grates me that people always tend to put him down into that category when in reality he could end you in one(1) turn#the pokeani didnt help w this. nor the fact the games werent able to give him a team which goes hand in hand w that#anyway. those r my thonks & that is why my lance tends to chill and be threatening#SAYING THAT. he did partake in a dnd campaign and was like. one of the only ppl to survive so 🤔🫡#god bless u dragon man. if no one got u. i got u.#lance pokemon is my oc btw guys nintendo gave him to me via adoption papers#ooc. » electric type enthusiast.#tw negative#??? ig. lucas ramblings

random fact about lance because I'm around just not entirely present.
did you know he has a shiny furret. an extremely large pink guy who just sits on his shoulders all day when he's chilling back at the estate. he was gifted to him by his wife ( @onemcretime ) and was inspired by that time I did a crystal randomised nuzlocke and lance had a shiny furret.
