a central transfeminist point that it's difficult for tmes to wrap their heads around is that trans women do in fact interact with society as women, and are treated as women, even when they're being misgendered. misgendering isn't just misunderstanding, it's a deliberate act of violence targeting a particularly vulnerable class of women
this seemingly paradoxical nature of transmisogyny is what makes talking about these things so maddening
#i feel like gender nonconforming or even just kinda ugly cis women should be able to understand this#i was talking to my partner the other day about how when men fail to live up to masculine ideals they get treated like women#but when women fail to live up tp feminine ideals they dont get treated like men. they get treated like failed women#which is a different category of person thats like. basically subhuman to a lot of people#when trans women get misgendered theyre not being treated like men theyre being treated like failed women#and i think anyone who's ever been a failed woman should be able to understand that
