For as popular as the idea of a "hivemind" is we never talk about how it doesn't exist in nature. There's no animal colony that connects and controls all its members through a psychic connection. Even bees, the eponimous hivemind, communicate by pheremones and, more importantly, interpretive dance. My point is when are we going to get a movie about an intensely organized alien race that mainly communicates via sick dance moves, why are we sleeping on this.

I’ve seen people explore the idea that Spite protects Lucanis and Rook from their nightmares, and I agree wholeheartedly. And I think this would also extend to their children.

Can you imagine being a little kid in the middle of a nightmare and a glowing version of your dad shows up and annihilates the scary things? They would love him.

Even after Lucanis has died (after a long, happy life, thank you) and Spite has returned to the Fade, he continues to protect them and their descendants.

Any mage in the bloodline never has to fear possession; Spite won’t allow it. He tells every generation stories of the previous ones but especially stories about Lucanis and Rook. Over long years in the Fade, he reverts more and more to his original nature. He becomes a confidante of sorts, offering advice and encouragement, and the Dellamorte family gains a reputation for their stubborn determination to accomplish any task, no matter how daunting.

But every once in a while, he offers advice to his current favorite that is just a little spiteful, and his glowing eyes flicker purple as he gives them a wink.

thinking about lucanis dellamorte and his relationship with rook.

because a platonic relationship? maker, that's his ride or die. they are so linked that he asks them to come with him to every single event. and rook goes with him, rain or shine, peaceful brunch or violent confrontation. he owes everything to rook- rook saved him, rook introduced him to neve, rook gave him the courage to go after and find everything he wants in life.

and a romantic relationship? lucanis has NEVER loved someone like this before. he trusts rook enough to bare his stomach to them (never beating the cat allegations btw) he tells them things he's never told anyone. he holds himself back from rook to protect them from the mess he himself is. but he loves them. oh, does he love them.

and that's to say nothing about rook themself. lucanis is who solas summons to scare them. someone who is sometimes not their love interest- lucanis. rook is comfortable with lucanis in a way they don't always feel comfortable with the rest of the veilguard. their voicelines sound more relaxed. they cook together. they let him rest his head in their lap. they laugh and poke fun and they love him.

and ik a lot of people have issues with the finished rookanis product, but their love story is in the hidden glances. the quiet touches. the unspoken words! it's so pride and prejudice coded i cant evennn

rookanis, platonic or romantic, you will always be famous to me.
