Are these hikes good for beginners? The last thing I need is to twist my ankle. Although, I guess it would make for a good story later.
If anyone would like to get some fresh air in the great outdoors this weekend, I will be leading hikes at Maple Grove both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Fair warning, it will mostly be families and small children tagging along, but that means it won't be too long of a route for anyone apprehensive about the trails.

I love the Hidden Brain. It always delves into the interesting things. Or Crime Junkie.
What are your favorites?
Sometimes I can be. That's what many have said, but I could always use more recs.
That's cool! Do you mean like how they match up the DNA and stuff like that?

(✉️ ➡️ Noah): It's been a long time, Noah. Maybe you don't know me as well anymore. (✉️ ➡️ Noah): Thank you. Could use a break every now and then. (✉️ ➡️ Noah): Yes but without the physical labor. I do love it.
(Puck → Quinn): To say that I know you is an understatement, Quinn. (Puck → Quinn): Absolutely. You're welcome here anytime. Just let me know when you want the address. (Puck → Quinn): Sounds like farm life lol. But you love it though, yeah?

Well, that depends. Are you a fan of the true crime ones? I always love a good crime story.
I find myself more drawn to the medical ones. Maybe I'm partial, though.
Anyone got some good podcasts to recommend? I usually listen to those or audio books while I'm working on the farm but I'm all caught up and need some new suggestions. I'll give mostly anything a try at least once.

(✉️ ➡️ Noah): You got me there. Don't know that I can argue any longer. (✉️ ➡️ Noah): You think I could come around and see it sometime? (✉️ ➡️ Noah): Doctor's life is busy. I love it but some days are better than others.
(Puck → Quinn): Because you never looked at your phone. (Puck → Quinn): It's going. Slowly but surely. Finally got the fenced fixed. Also, working on the house. (Puck → Quinn): How's doctor life?

(✉️ ➡️ Noah): What makes you say that? (✉️ ➡️ Noah): How is that going for you? (✉️ ➡️ Noah): I'm fine. Can't complain.
(Puck → Quinn): I mean, it's a legit reason, but something tells me that it could be a front. (Puck → Quinn): I'm alright. Just working on this farm. How are you, Q?

(✉️ ➡️ Noah): Sorry for running off during Founder's Day. (✉️ ➡️ Noah): Would you believe me if I said there was an emergency at the hospital or is that too cliché? (✉️ ➡️ Noah): How are you?

There are times when I think the last thing that I need is a pet who relies on me, but now I'm thinking that it might be the right time. You may have sold me on it. Would you recommend a cat or a dog for a first pet?
Well, first and foremost, now that we're in June, let me wish everybody a very happy Pride! To that end, I actually just spent the better part of my day decorating the shelter appropriately for the month. And, on that subject, a huge thank you goes out to all the amazing volunteers we had this year at Founder's Day. Suffice to say, the shelter saw even more success this year than the last and last year was already great! But there's always more animals looking for homes so if you didn't quite get the chance to visit our booth on Founder's Day, I'd highly encourage you to come on down to the shelter and potentially meet your new best friend. You never know when you might meet your furry, fluffy soulmate.

If there was one thing that Quinn Fabray was good at, it was the ability to sweep things under the rug. To pretend like they didn't exist and that everything was perfect. She had learned from the best and it was a trait that she seemingly still exhibited to this day. If it were up to her, she and Noah would have exchanged a pleasant but awkward greeting and then went their separate ways. It would mean that she would think about it for the next few days on a constant loop but at least she could still pretend like everything was fine. This was not fine.
"It's a bit public, but better here than not at all?" She asked, knowing what his answer would be. He had never been one who hesitated. While she would play games, he never beat around the bush. He always found his way to the heart of everything. It had always been something Quinn had admired about him. Now, she wasn't so sure.
Everything that had fallen from her lips were excuses and she knew that he would never fall for them. She had no right to be so hurt when she found out that he had gotten married or that he was going to be a father. But she was. "I know," she replied lamely, her teeth sinking into her lower lip. It had been a low blow. Would she ever think before she spoke? Probably not. Noah asked the question that she feared and she shook her head before he could even finish. "No. I'm happy for you. I am. I always knew you'd be great," she murmured, her eyes meeting his. A great husband. A great father. So, what was the problem? Holding onto the thought that it should have been her was a fantasy. It was a pipe dream. It was selfish.
No one had ever known Quinn Fabray to be selfless.
"Can we start over? A proverbial olive branch?" She asked, fully understanding if he didn't agree.
Eyes studied the blonde. He knew how she ticked, or at least he did in the past. Now, Puck wasn’t quite sure if he did or not. They hadn’t seen or spoken to one another in years. Essentially once Zade was born, that was when most contact ceased between the pair. His marriage, if you could even call it that, wasn’t what anyone believed. They put on their fronts in public and whenever they posted on social media, but behind closed doors, they barely got along. Zade was just a happy accident, that was the best thing to happen to Puck.
Now, he was divorced, and happy. Having full custody of Zade was something they had agreed on, and when she was ready, they would work out an agreement to share custody. Naturally, they were better co-parents and friends than husband and wife. “Yeah, why not? Here is as good a place as any.” He almost spat out. It hurt him when she stopped responding to him. Quinn Fabray was a vital part of his life. He lived and breathed for her. For years. Now, it was almost as if they were the bane of each other’s existence.
Blue orbs moved to Quinn, lips parting to say something, but knew everything she was saying was just to respond. “Yeah, I can get that you’re busy. But you know damn well I spent the last several years on a boat, and email was the best I could do on communication.” Taking a deep breath before shaking his head slightly. “Of course I was worried about you. I care about you, Quinn. I always have and I always will. I thought you knew that.” Bringing his hand up, he fixed the hat on his head, trying to take a beat to control himself. “Is this about me getting married or something? Because everything changed around that time.”

Quinn knew that it was low to stop talking to him. It was something that ate at her almost every day, but his marriage had been a surprise to her. Of course, she didn't blame him. It was good for him to move on. Lord knew that she needed to. She had tried multiple times but each time she came up with an excuse. She didn't like the way that he laughed. She didn't like the way that they talked. There were various reasons and each was more ridiculous as the last. Quinn would never admit why she truly couldn't find it in herself to move on. The reason was buried underneath a million other excuses.
The blonde smiled politely, watching Zade with Puck's mom. She listened to his explanation, nodding and feeling like she was going through the motions. Quinn had put herself on autopilot. She was quickly thrown out of it when Noah asked why she hadn't replied to his emails. It was the last thing she would have expected after the time that had passed. Of course, she should have known better. It should have been the first thing she expected. He had never been known to beat around the bush. He never played the games that she did.
"You want to talk about it here?" She asked, the surprise clear in her eyes that he had even asked in the first place. Clearing her throat, she fixed the mask on her face, hiding whatever emotions she had felt. Quinn wasn't sure what excuse to use, so she settled upon: "I was busy. I'm sorry that we lost touch. Phones work too, you know. If you were that worried."
Eyes were anywhere but on Quinn. She had been a pivotal part of his life from a young age, but when she just stopped talking to him, it ate him alive. It bothered him. Could they not be friends at least? Seeing his mom in the distance, Puck lifted Zade off his shoulders with ease. “Zade, you see Nana over there? Go get her. I love you, buddy.” As Zade ran off to his mother, eyes stayed on him until he was safe. Once a sigh left past his lips, Puck finally looked at Quinn, waiting to answer her.
“Yes and no. I never expected to come back to Bearcreek, but I’m glad Zade is getting to know his family. My mom wasn’t the greatest mother, but she’s a hell of a grandmother.” Eyes flickered over to the pair that was his mother and his son. “I love that for you. I’m sure you’re great at your job.” A small smile settled on his lips as he looked down. He didn’t want to beat around the bush, so he asked the question that had been on his mind for quite some time. “So are we going to talk about why you stopped replying to my emails? Or do we need to save that conversation for another day?” Leave it to Puck to be blunt and straight to the point.
