Richard M. Evans, MD, FAAO, is a 1971-graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas in Los Angeles, California. His postgraduate training includes his internship at the Malcolm Grow Medical Center, a United States Air Force hospital located on Joint Base Andrews, Maryland (1971-1972), his ophthalmology residency served at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas (1972-1975), as well as his ophthalmic pathology fellowship performed at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC (1975-1976). Dr. Evans completed his undergraduate education, i.e. his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, at the University of Texas at El Paso in El Paso, Texas. He attained board certification in ophthalmology with the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of several professional societies and associations, such as American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, the Bexar County Medical Society, the San Antonio Society of Ophthalmology, the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons, the Society of Military Ophthalmologists, the Association of Ophthalmic Alumni of the AFIP, and the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, which allows him to remain at the forefront of his challenging field. Dr. Evans is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and recipient of the Patients’ Choice Awards in 2016. “Listening is a crucial part of my job.
