What will you do with this life?
It’s scary to think that everything in life is temporary, that we are temporary. We have a limited time span and what we choose to do with it is ultimately the culmination of who we are. The foot prints we choose to leave in this life will follow us until our very last days. Our skin will wrinkle, our bones will grow weak, our eyesight will fail us. We aren’t young forever and time moves at the blink of an eye. Too many people take the fast lane in life and don’t slow down to enjoy it. Years fly by at the blink of an eye, yet too many people are pissed off waiting in traffic for an hour. Too many people are pissed off at the person in front of them taking forever to decide what they want to order for food. Too many people are pissed off at the fact that their train is running late. Too many people are pissed off that they had to walk the extra mile to get to their destination. Too many people are oblivious to the beauty that is earth. Too many people are pissed off at little things, but fail to realize the big things. Be patient and take the time to enjoy that hour in traffic where you can find out more about yourself, listen to your favorite podcast or watch the colors of the sunset dance for you. Instead of getting pissed off at someone because you had to wait for something longer than you expected, take that time to reflect on your day. Unwind and realize all the things you have in your life to be thankful for and smile at that person in front of you, make their day. Instead of being angry at the train for being late to your destination, realize that everything happens for a reason. Maybe the train was running late, but the single mom raising five kids on her own made it to her job because of this moment in time. Instead of getting mad for walking an extra mile to your destination because your gps failed you, take advantage of the opportunity and appreciate the world you live in. The next time you blink, you’ll wish you had taken the longer way home. You’ll wish you took in every moment like it was your last. The next time you blink and open your eyes, appreciate the sun shining on your skin and the moon that kisses you goodnight. We only get one chance to do it right.
