In Mythologies Roland Barthes argues that poetry is that which cannot be grasped by language. Prufrock is a poem about a guy who cannot say what he means. Prufrock is a poem to poetry.

I wish I had written The Love Song of J. A. Prufrock or The Waste Land, tbh. There are some lines that stick with you "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons/ I know the voices dying with a dying fall/ beneath the music from a farther room".
