Hello everyone! I know I haven't been there in a while, but this was a rough year and so I didn't have the sense to drawing. Btw, I'm so excited for season 3 of Ducktales and expecially for Daisy😍 I like to imagine her like a writer and that she has been asked to write a biography about Scrooge and his family ( "The life and times of Scrooge Mcduck" ). In the old comics and series she was always a journalist/secretary and I quite like this idea 😊

Sincere wishes from a fellow Chinese. Though, I am not quite positive about it. Just last week, I witnessed someone being arrested for what he had said on the Internet, and he was just being cynical, not even mean. This is 1984 for real.

We need your help.

I guess I will be taken to prison by Chinese government one day, because of this art I drew, or the things I said.

I am from Hong Kong. As you may not know, this is a special administration region of China. We (still) have our own legal system, and freedom of speech, that’s why I can access to everywhere in the internet without censorship (I get ask a lot). Recently, over a million of people are protesting against the Extradition Law. It was an extremely-almost-impossible fight and many students are injured horribly by the police force. I WAS THERE.

If the extradition law is passed, which means that China can “took” anyone from Hong Kong back to China as “prisoners”. Oh you don’t wanna know what China will do to those innocent people …

The government is forcing the law on us. We couldn’t do this on our own. We need more attention from other countries. Please spread this message out.

I am trying to build a head image of Bridgetta, but find it hard to decide how she would respond when Scrooge is being a jerk to her. Scrooge needs to be called out sometimes, but when that actually happens it’s often in a comic where Bridgetta is being even worse... I like Lars Jensen's Bridgetta. I’d like to consider her as a soft person who might genuinely get hurt and never complain, but that also feels not right, idk.

do you think goldie was one-sidedly pining after scrooge in the comics?

No. That is the short answer. Absolutely not. 

Now, for the long answer. Scrooge was pining for Goldie, that is made very clear by both authors who used that relationship in any particular way, Barks and Rosa. 

In Barks, we see that Scrooge has a hidden soft spot for Goldie and some very nostalgic longing for her. 

With Rosa, his pining is much more…melodramatic. Obsessive. Tragic. Pick your own poison. And when I say obsessive I don’t mean it in the violent way that tumblr likes to use the word. There are shades to obsessions, and Scrooge’s love for Goldie takes shades of toxic obsessions that all doomed love stories take.

But in both cases it is a clear choice between the seductive unknown (romantic love) and the comfortable known (family-Duckburg-money). Scrooge yearns Goldie like others yearn death. The absolute leap to the unknown that might promise the golden heaven of being loved and leaving his old life behind. See how Scrooge retiring from his role as himself (the richest duck in the world) and finally reaching peace with Goldie in some remote cabin in Yukon is the happy ending that best would fit the Rosa-canon. The romantic death. 

And Goldie, well we actually see young Goldie quite a lot in Rosa comics and have little to none information of her olden days. She most definitely was in love with the handsome man who could communicate with wild animals, who had a pure heart amidst masses of vileness, and who took Goldie on a trip of self-realization in beautiful scenery. Scrooge was Goldie’s manic-pixie-dream-girl, of course she fell in love. But, there is also no evidence that she pined for him after he left Yukon. We have an avalanche of head-canons, all of them great, but if you ignore all of the fan-contribution, comic-Goldie is a concept, we know nothing about her life, nothing about her real feelings. She is fondly interested when they meet once again, but we don’t see inside her head. WE don’t need to see inside her head in the comics. She has her purpose, and that is being available. She is the path not taken, the unopened letter. A possibility. 

And that is where DT17 and comics have the monumental difference. Comic-Goldie is available. If Scrooge went on one knee in front of her, it would not be hard to imagine that she would accept. There is a different amount of power that Scrooge has in the comics, which is that he could, if he would. 

Comic Goldie isn’t pining, she is available. Waiting.

I haven't received the update from Google Play so I don't know the plot yet. But it sounds like the animation team made a good move. Though, I need to point out that Back to the Klondike did not indicate Goldie was waiting for Scrooge. It's more like she was broke and had no where to go so she went back to White Agony Creek.

The impression I get from 2017 Goldie is that the writers looked at her comic/1987 Ducktales character and took her to her logical conclusion. There’s no way a lady that amazing and badass would end up just sitting on her butt in the Klondike waiting for Scrooge to remember she exists.

(I guess I don’t know if she has been particularly active in the comics after Life and Times; I’m just going by 1987 Ducktales, which I understand could only be based on the Barks comics, but.) 

Why wouldn’t she get out there and adventure for gold and basically be an awesome lady Scrooge? They even included the bear-riding! It’s all I ever wanted. She is fantastic! I’d call her an old lady Lara Croft but I don’t think Lara usually engages in that much backstabbery. That’s all Goldie.
