12. (What would you add to an arc/book?): I would love to expand on the negotiating that had to have ensued between the Queens after the end of arc 1.

While I think that having both the Dragonets of Destiny and the Eye of Onyx officially recognizing Thorn as Queen holds a lot of weight for a war weary continent, I can't help but believe there would have been a lot of haggling involved before each Queen withdrew their troops back into their own territories. Does Glacier still get some land but only the territory that is too cold for Sandwings to utilize anyway? Does Ruby get sworn oaths that no other tribe would shelter Scarlet? Does Moorhen get her 100 years of mutual protection even if it means the Sandwings might have to go to war yet again just to protect another tribe's land?

Most interestingly to me however is how the Dragonets of Destiny managed to get JMA officially recognized so quickly. What if, more than just a school, it was also intended to act as a failsafe against another war by placing politically valuable dragonets all within the same neutral territory. The sheer number of royals and otherwise well connected students attending JMA always struck me as too suspicious to simply be a coincidence. Every Queen would have to hold off against ordering further conflict at least until they re-called their own dragonets back. Hmmm.

28. (Character you hope gets expanded on/ viewed in the near future?): Mightyclaws, my favourite traumatized little artist. He was actually genuinely friendly toward Starflight in book four and even Moon, known outcast amongst her fellow Nightwings, mentioned that he was polite enough until she started prodding him about Darkstalker.

In second place I'd love to learn more about Crane, her death had a lot of knock on effects but we hardly know anything about her. Fingers crossed for arc 4!

Woe, undead goat man be upon you. Tryna get back in that art groove and after reading ediction today I liked it enough to make something. It has some pretty interesting themes but uh, its pretty bleak.

It is gut wrenching to think that some of the only times that Clearsight was blindsided by something she didn't foresee was in the moments she dared to be happy and trust that things were going to be okay. She spent the first years of her life obsessively working out the future to an unhealthy degree, terrified by what would happen if she didn't have complete control and awareness of what to do to make sure she could reach her happy ending. When Darkstalker showed her his scroll and made her the bracelet, it was tangible proof that he was willing to give up his own power to make her happy. It seemed like all her hard work was paying off and for once Clearsight let loose a little and had fun like the dragonets that they were. In daring to enjoy herself she is rewarded with Arctic coming in and finding out Darkstalker was an animus. A fact that only furthered the resentment between the two while also inadvertently exposing Darkstalker's magic to the entire tribe.

Then later down the line, Clearsight is working day in and day out for the Queen, so much so that she forgot it was her own birthday the very next day. Only after she's been pestered and physically dragged out of her office does she begin to relax and enjoy the party that is being thrown for her. Then Queen Diamond ruins it all.

Echo is an amazing novel but I’ve never gone back to re-read its routes.

A lot of the time when I really enjoy a piece of fiction I’ll read it over and over again to ferret out all the little details or just enjoy the story that it depicts but for this game I can’t bring myself to read it again in its entirety. Its an expertly crafted narrative with such fully fleshed multidimensional characters and it even utilizes the medium its written in to contribute to its themes but despite all that I haven’t gone back to read it again despite the fact it lives rent free in my head.

And I think its because the entire story is just so damn bleak. Once you go through all the routes you just know that nothing good can come from here so why would I ever re-visit it in its entirety. Sure there are some nice moments here and there but they are all tainted by the knowledge that you the player has about how totally fucked each and every character is. Sure there is a veneer of polite friendless at times but in a different timeline, if you made a few different choices, these characters might hate each other, they might even kill each other. This ‘friend group, has so much history and so many unresolved issues that seeing them interact normally feels almost more weird then seeing them at each others throats.

Echo is an stunning game with a thrilling narrative, but I don’t know if I’m ever going to read it again myself.

It's been weeks and I'm still thinking about Samuel lying to himself about how he feels about being carried around if he accepts Nik's proposal. Like it's such a small thing to focus on but it feels like a very specific tell if you remember Sam's thoughts on it during nik's first chapter. Even if it's only temporary I can hardly stand turning him down, and now I'm fretting over it being the only way to get even a shadow of a good ending for the route, I am not well😭😭 Nik's story feel like *the* most fraught route (though Murdoch's right up there too) and every choice feels so important. I just want my big guy to be happy, this game gets me in my feels so bad it's crazy. I need an update on every route asap but nik's especially, I'm going to be completely on edge until I get some sort of resolution for his story, it's become so important for me
