In defense of Jackie Taylor... because people do characterise her as unintelligent, or at least imply it a lot, I do just want to say I think a lot of that stems from Jackie actively choosing to reject all of her interiority. It seems like she barely allowed herself to think, her thought processes were always driven by a survival instinct, long before the wilderness. I think she got to the point where she was so afraid of and confused by her own internal experience of the world, that she suffocated it. She looked miserable when she was alone in the Pilot. Being alone with her thoughts made her miserable. It seems like she performed for others to the extent that she actually didn't know who she was anymore. I think it's one thing that made Nat, who was so unapologetically an individual and knew herself, the target of a lot of Jackie's jealousy.

Honestly, Jackie's absolute mastery of the exact persona she needed to survive and even outwardly thrive in her environment pre-crash showed a lot of some kind of intelligence. So yeah, she can definitely be a bit dumb at points, but I think people underestimate how much of that isn't actually innate. Instead it's kind of a byproduct of starving her ability for introspection to death because she was terrified of what she might discover about herself.
