the thing that gets to me about "purity culture" is how women's bodies are objectified. like yes, okay, being pure is good for you and super healthy for your soul but if you've had sex you are not a licked cupcake. you are not a chewed stick of gum, or a crumpled piece of paper. if you haven't been living the most holy pure life ever guess what? you're normal, you're not alone, you're not broken or damaged, you're completely lovable and completely worthy, and you are still called to chastity like everyone else.
purity is not a god you worship. you are not a virgin sacrifice to it. you are not to lay prone on the altar to be burned. you can kiss your boyfriend before you get married. if you've messed up you can try again. if you've made mistakes you are still good. chastity is a virtue, not a god. gods are worshiped. virtues are practiced.

So weird being a practicing Catholic. Hated by conservatives being "too progressive" and hated by liberals for being "too conservative."

I went down a rabbit hole of investigating James Patterson and how he writes, and I'm intensely angry.
He claims he edits his entire novels in just HALF AN HOUR.
His team? 16 people. SIXTEEN GHOSTWRITERS

You know? I get why dads grill.
It gets them outside, it gets them focused on the here and now, it takes their minds off of worries and stressors, they provide food for the family, and its just really fun.

Pope Francis passed away this morning. I considered him a mercy worker, his words were an inspiration to me while making this blog. He cared so deeply about the dignity of everyone, urging the Church towards peace, hope, love, and charity. Please pray for his soul and please don't forget these words;

Listen, if your saying "If the next Pope is "conservative" or "traditional" I'm leaving the Church or I'm going to lose my faith, you're looking at things all wrong. One, Pope Francis was not some bleeding heart progressive, he was an orthodox pontiff who sometimes spoke off the cuff and had a good chunk of the perception warped by people who wanted him to conform to their own world view. He still upheld the sanctity of marriage, spoke out against gender ideology (several times), was unapologetically pro life.
If you do leave, you're just like the Trads who left because it was "too hard" for them after Francis took up the office and wasn't as traditional as Benedict, some who quite literally denied that Benedict had resigned or Francis's reign was invalid all the way up to Benedict's passing in 2022.
If you do lose faith, I will pray for you to discover and embrace it richer than what you left. Mt 13:10-17

Pope Francis to be buried at his beloved St. Mary Major basilica
Seven other popes have been buried in St. Mary Major, the last being Clement IX, who reigned from 1667 to 1669.
The Pontiff spoke extensively about his bond with the Virgin Mary, and it was the icon of her at Mary Major that drew him over and over again. Before and after his trips, he would stop to see her. He brought her the flowers that he had spotted from the Gemelli balcony the day he finally got out of the hospital after his 38-day stay battling double pneumonia. He was back again last week, as he began to venture out among the public, and give brief greetings and blessings in his still-strained and breathless voice.
Confessing his desire to "simplify" the liturgy of papal funerals, the Pontiff said that he wishes to be buried in Santa Maria Maggiore, a papal basilica located in the center of Rome.
"The place is already prepared," he assures us, explaining that he made this promise to the Virgin Mary, with whom he has "a very deep bond."
Pope Francis will thus depart from the contemporary tradition of burying pontiffs near the first pope, in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. However seven other popes have been buried in St. Mary Major, the last being Clement IX, who reigned from 1667 to 1669.
