The doubt within me collapses into dust
When I'm met with the whimsical light of your golden presence.
Like the crisp taste of a grape in June,
You renew me.
Let me amble beside you,
Picking flowers for your bramble crown,
And delight in the ecstacy of your madness.

I've been quietly alone, away from the theoi off and on for a couple of years now. Covid hitting made it hard for me to do much of anything, and I haven't been formally practicing much. I always stayed connected in some small ways, but I wasn't feeling the gods or going to them for help. I was just making prayers as part of the motions and hoping they heard me, half heartedly.
I'm glad to be back again. To feel their presence and know they're listening.
Tell me, what's been happening here on paganblr the last few years? Especially on the hellenic polytheism side of things?

I'll be making more khernips soap soon. I'll post a link whenever they're finished, but if you'd like me to contact you directly when I'm done, private message me and I'll give you a personal heads up!
My soaps are moisturizing and I use a recipe containing olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, and castor oil.
My khernips bar is made of the above ingredients plus lustral water/khernips, lye, Mediterranean sea salt, kaolin clay, bay laurel powder, and sea clay. They're simple and beautiful. They can be fragrance free, although I haven't decided on what this batch will be scented with (or without), so let me know your thoughts. Maybe something simple like jasmine? Or a fresh, clean scent?
They sell for $7 each and are prayed over to promote Hagneia (ritual purity) in the user, and so that they may be blessed to act in place of khernips cleansing water. It's a modernized form of khernips and offers the opportunity to be cleansed spiritually as well as physically in the shower or bath. These bars make excellent ritual additions.
I have made devotional bars in the past but they didn't sell super well. So I'm sticking to this khernips bar for now! If interest increases, that can totally change.
Khaire!

I want to practice some divination as a devotional act for Hekate and Apollon, so if you'd like a reading specifically speaking to Hekate or another theos, DM me! 💜 It might take me a couple days to get to it, but I figure it's good practice and you all usually are up for it lol!

Making a soap for ritual purification based on khernips. I'm trying to decide on a fragrance and any additives!
I'm probably going to make one for ouranic worship and kthonic worship to make a couple options.
For an ouranic khernips bar, Im probably going to do a white bar with kaolin clay and sea salt. I'm open to other ideas, but something simple and pure sounds like a good idea to me! I'll use actual khernips/lustral water in the recipe.
For a khthonic bar, I'll use black charcoal powder, a deep amber fragrance, and sea salt. The water will also be lustral water.

Pillars of Hellenismos

Row of columns in Ancient Messene, Greece. Photo by: Peulle, 2017 via WIkimedia Commons (X). License: Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0)
The “Pillars of Hellenismos” never really existed.
And by that, I mean the ancient Greeks weren’t taught something called the “Pillars” of their religion. Their religion had no name, and religious practices were embedded in their culture. People learned about religion and correct behavior from their family and friends, and through participation in worship from a young age. What we know as the “Pillars of Hellenismos” were taught through modeled religious and ethical behavior.
Our modern “Pillars of Hellenismos” originated and are drawn from the virtues taught in ancient Greek philosophy, especially that of Plato and Aristotle. The virtues differ somewhat from list to list, because the various philosophers emphasized different virtues in their works, but the lists generally overlap.
Although much in the way of religious ritual has been lost, quite a bit of ancient philosophy was saved and adopted by Christians, so we are able to identify and reconstruct the ethical and moral values of ancient Hellenic religion. These virtues are what have become known as the “Pillars of Hellenismos”.
Everyone ends up with their own list of “Pillars”; these are mine:
Kharis - giving without expectation of return, and gratitude for benevolence received
Eusebia - reverence and duty toward the Gods
Arete - striving to live to one’s fullest potential
Hagneia - spiritual and ritual purity
Sophia - the pursuit of wisdom and understanding
Sophrosune - self-control
Xenia - hospitality, generosity and courtesy

I used to have a few blogs over the years, but recently got locked out of @breathing-in-gilded-dust because 2 factor authentication doesn't work if you switch phone numbers lol. I also had a blog called temples-wreathed-in-laurel for a long while!
Anyways, just wanted to say hello and let you all know I am here! So, hi 💜

A hymn I wrote to a few goddesses I view as playing a part in one of my major hobbies, Herbalism! I consider Hekate to be my patron in this area.
