Boys n the Hood
Although I personally cannot relate to the characters in this movie, It seems to accurately portray many of the issues faced in poorer and more dangerous areas. One thing almost all teenagers can relate to in this movie is peer pressure. We all have felt the urge to do something just so we can fit in, but this movie shows how hard it can be to resist that urge and how it can lead you down a bad path. This movie compared to Rebel Without a Cause also shows the comparison between Urban and Suburban teenagers and White and Black teenagers. It emphasizes how different the problems they face are, but ironically both movies end in violence. The characters are believable because they had good and believable acting. Each character used their facial expressions and lingo to match their character really well. Tre’s character was especially believable because you could easily tell how conflicted he was during different parts and how affected he was at the end. The audience for this film was teenagers in urban America who had not previously been well represented in pop culture. The purpose of this movie was to spread awareness to the rest of the country of some of the serious issues that many urban Black teenagers have to face which other teens don’t even have to think about. The speaker of this movie is Tre because the movie is focused on him and his struggle to decide his identity. He was the character with the most backstory and most growth. No adult I talked to really said they understood the exact struggle shown in this movie because none of them grew up in similar circumstances, but they said that this movie was a game changer in America. It was the first time a “Hood” movie has become so popular and it lead to a breakdown of the barriers which prevented the rest of America from seeing what goes on and the problems many of these teenagers face.

Rebel without a cause
This movie did not portray the characters very accurately to teenagers now and their problems. Many of the problems each of the characters were faced with were not similar to modern teenagers and they seemed to act out dramatically and disrespectfully. I did notice, however, that many of the roots of the characters’ problems have no changed till date among teenagers. Some of these include bullying and family problems. Overall the characters did not portray teenagers like today very well but still touched on a few of the main issues teens are impacted by. The characters were not really believable because they were too dramatic and acted out on small things. They also treated their parents in an unbelievably disrespectful way like when Jim went crazy, and he started to choke his dad. That was not believable because in no culture is it acceptable to be so rude to your parents and get away with it, which is changing a lot today and is starting to be more accepted. Also many of the characters did not use facial expressions very well to convey what they were feelings very much during many of the times my group was just guessing. The audience of this movie is other teenagers who struggle with similar issues such as bullying, feeling unwanted in your family, missing family members, and even more. This movie is meant to relate to teenagers and their struggles and the purpose is to make them get a feeling of understandment. This movie was one of the first in the teen genre so it was made to give a voice to teenagers and allow expression of struggles that are often kept bottled up. The speakers are Jim, Judy, and Plato because they are the main characters who are concentrated on. The adult I talked to was my mom and she said that this movie was much more relatable even when she was a teenager, but now the teenage culture has outgrown many of these habits and problems. She said that now there are new kinds of rebellion and the modern movies are made to relate to modern teenagers.

Remix
Although almost everything is considered a remix off of something else, I believe that there are some things that can be both and may even lean more toward an original piece rather than a remix. The item I believe is as close to an original thing as possible is the first ever portrait ever created of a human being. This portrait was created in the year of 1839, only a year after the first photograph of a human was created. This was created by a photography pioneer named Robert Cornelius. This piece has to be an original because it was the first ever portrait created of a human. Robert Cornelius may have gotten his ideas from something else or someone else, but the fact that he did it so differently and decided to make a portrait of a person is what makes it original. This also fits the definition of an original because the dictionary definition of original is the first or the earliest thing. Therefore this portrait that Robert Cornelius created was an original because it was the first of something to ever be created. Another key reason as to why this is an original is because he changed the way people were doing things and created a new trend of art. Before him nobody made portraits and when he made this, it created popularity for the image of humans. This then lead to a trend of human portraits because of the beauty that was contained in the portrait. Robert Cornelius changed the world with his piece, not by going off of what other people did and making a better piece than them, but by created something new, something new to him.

In the book when Jay reunites with Joe it reminds me of this video because Jay a Joe shared that special connection, that felt like a brother hood. This video is also similar to the book because it provides a lot of emotion and excitement for the viewer/ the reader because I love seeing people reunited like this, it is so touching. This video also reminds me to an early part of the book when Joe goes home from the war for a short amount of time to see his girlfriend. When he does this and goes home he proposes to his girlfriend. I also believe that when Jay is reunited with Joe I believe it may foreshadow the fact that Jay will make make it home and see his family again and he will be just as excited as this Notre Dame basketball player is. These are also similar because Matt Farrel I believe did not come from best past just as Jay did not have the best past either but they both persevered and they both are doing what they want with their lives right now and are pursuing their passions.

Early in the book Jay talked about a friend from the beginning of the war named Joe. He and Joe became very good friends but as the war progressed they were separated because they did not have the same jobs so they believed they may never see each other again. They had not heard from each other for quite a while and both did not know what to assume but then, one day Jay was instructed to go somewhere and he then met up with Joe. Joe had never really seen much action in the war but his time was arising so he was trying to form a squad, and who better than his friend who is a great pilot who does not have a squad because of his recklessness. I was surprised when I found out that Joe would want Jay on his squad after all the bad stories of Jay, so I assumed that Joe would listen to everyone else. I was wrong, because Joe clearly wants Jay because of the connection they have and he most likely believes they can use it against the enemy as an advantage. One disadvantage of having him as a partner would be that it would be very hard to find other members to add to their squad because every is afraid to ride with Jay as a pilot because of all of the stories of him.

Throughout the chapter where General Ken Walker, it slowly started to remind me more and more of the TV show that I watched not too long ago called lost. This chapter reminds me of Lost because before getting on the plane some people did not want to get on, such as the soldiers in the book and the Chinese woman in lost. It was also very similar to me because Ken Walker crashed a plane, which is how the people in Lost got stranded on an island as well, and were both because of other people, it was neither of their faults that their plane crashed. Both groups also crashed in a forest and nobody was technically able to find them, at least for the first few seasons in Lost. Another similarity is that both of the planes crashed during the day and were crashed because of a major force. In the book it was Japanese fighter planes that made Walker crash and in Lost they crashed because of a magnet thing because they had not reset a timer. The last evidence that links the two pieces together are the fact that to the real world that both in the book and in the TV show, they were both reported as MIA.

Throughout the book General Ken Walker was a very important and became very important to this point of success in the Pacific. Although he was a very smart man he got upset when people did not agree with him, and that is exactly what happened, Walker wanted to attack during the day but he was denied because it is easier to get shot at in the day. He did not listen to his superior anyways and decided to plan the schedule for noon because he trusted that it would work, so they went and since some troops did not want to, he went along with them. Out of the 12 bombers that made the trip only one did not make it back and it was his own. When his superior found out, Kenny, he was furious but also worried so they searched for him during and after the war but they figured the plane had landed in a forest so they did not search for the plane. I think the moral of this chapter is that going with your gut is not always the right decision but that looking act facts is always more important because all of the evidence agreed that they should have gone at night but his gut sad different and because of this he wound up dead. I was also very shocked that even after the war people did not search entirely for the plane because I believe that it would be very possible to search for the plane, given the resources that we have now today with all these new technological innovations.

Throughout the book Jay is developed once he gets out of the country and is stationed in several different place, like Australia, he is developed as a slacker, a person who does not try or even want to win the war. This is very contradicting to the beginning of the story when he was becoming a man and was attempting to become a pilot he was a persistent and hard working person. This bad boy attitude where Jay never listens happened at the biggest point in time during chapter 15 when there is a major moment for developing Jay. Although Jay still does not have his full pilot license and is not supposed to pilot a plane he decides to anyways and when he gets together with his new crew he asks if he can fly, they all say yes assuming if he asked he we permitted to. Their mission was to take pictures of a certain island and the rules were to not go below 25,000 feet. Although he was not supposed to go below that height, Jay dropped down to 8,000 feet in order to take better pictures, this then lead to his crew getting into fights with about 10 zeros. Although they won every fight not everyone in the crew was happy and although they disobeyed orders they all received a silver star. After this chapter I realized that sometimes in order to find yourself as a person you need to do something that you are not supposed to or something dangerous to get away from your fear, and this is exactly what Jay did, and he was able to find himself. I was also surprised by the fact that he was awarded a silver star because that shows that they don't want you to break orders but if you do, you will be known for a long time as a hero and that you could change the face of the war. This is why Jay became a hero and why I thought he should have been because he was able to do the impossible and do something that nobody else was able to do. Since Jay was able to get out of this pickle it made me think that it would give other pilots hope and confidence because a man who did not even have his piloting license was able to do this I think it would make them believe that they could also do this at least if not more.

This song is a lot like my book, because it talks about the history of America and this book is talking about one of the most important times in America, during World War 2. This song I believe if they were to make a movie out of the book I am reading would be a major song because it talks about American Oxygen and I believe this to be trying to achieve your dreams. This connects to the book that I am readying because in the book Jay Zeamer attempts to do the impossible and become a pilot with bad eyes, and he does, he achieves his biggest goal, his American dream. I also believe that the book could contradict the song because in the book at times it seems as if America is not perfect and will not bounce back from the struggles that they are currently having in the Pacific but in this music video it gives me the sense that America will always bounce back and shows all of the great breakthroughs and moments where people under harsh conditions have came together and made a change. This can also relate to and contradict the book because during the book there was an African American squad that went to Australia and Australia demanded that they leave as soon as possible and America just let it happen.

Jay Zeamer throughout the story was shown to be a very motivated and dedicated man towards his passion of becoming a pilot to serve in the Air Force. He eventually achieves his dream and get a high position, able to lead his fellow pilots very well and be a leader when they were on the ground. Although he was a great leader on the ground since he did not reach the status of a pilot yet and was only a copilot he was a completely different person when his team was in the air. He was lazy, always tired, lacked interest and never paid attention. Although he had a reasonable reason it still was not acceptable in the Air Force, he was even caught one time on a mission when his plane was getting shot at sleeping, even when the pilot asked him for help he went directly back to bed. In these series of events during the story it surprises me very much because I do not understand how a very well motivated person is so close to his goal in becoming a full time pilot and just gives up when he was that close. I feel as if there was an event that occurred that we were not told yet, maybe that his close friend Joe died, all I know is that this is not the Jay Zeamer that I have come to know throughout this story.

The movie Pearl Harbor reminds me of the book that I am currently reading called Lucky 666. In fact, I chose to read this book because of the this movie, this movie is one of my favorites because of the action and the war that is included in it, that is why I chose my book because it is very similar in the content. The movie Pearl Harbor also reminded me of my book because it is centered at the same time and they both talk about one of the most horrific memories in history for America, Pearl Harbor. Although there are many similarities among the war there are other similarities that are not directed directly to a war scene but rather leading up to it, for instance both main characters wanted to be a pilot. Although they wanted to be pilots, they were denied the fact at first that their eyes were not good enough but they both persevered and were able to become pilots in the war. Both members of their story also end up traveling to a different allied country and are stationed there for a while to help out with the war. Lastly this movie reminds me of my book because both characters have a really strong bond with someone they are in the war with, in Pearl Harbor it is his brother I believe and in the book Jay developes a friend who is very much like him named Joe.

Jay Zeamer in the book written about him through chapter three talks about him as a person and him growing up. He was a boy scout which is where he got most of hills from and where a lot of his motivation came from. He also after this attended a military high school because he acted up, but was loved very much there because of his love for engineering. He then went on to MIT which then lead him to the Air Force. Throughout the first three chapters he was always retaliating against orders from his leaders. This made me question him as a person and I truly did not understand why he does this because of everything he goes through and everything he overcame in his life and yet he has a problem listening, does not make sense to me because he is a talented person who has already achieved his goal. This then got me thinking and reminded me about many other great people such as many great scientists who did not listen and did their own thing because they did not agree, which then lead to something great, so I am anticipating that Jay does something great in the later chapters of the book.

This movie that I have seen reminds me a lot of my book Lucky 666. This is because in both of these books, the main character had to go through a major struggle that they were able to overcome when they were younger. For Jesse Owens, he overcame the fact that his family had almost no money to support him as a kid, so he was forced to get a job as soon as possible. He also overcame the fact he was discriminated against majorly because of his race and nobody believed that he would be successful in achieving his dreams. Although they did not believe in him he went out and showed everyone he was possible of achieving it and went to Ohio State on a scholarship for Track and Field, which ended up leading to him make the U.S. Olympic team. The hate towards him did not stop there, many people before he was leaving tried to talk him out of going to support his race and they were afraid that he would lose at the Olympics in Germany. He went anyways and while in Germany received major hatred after winning his first gold medal and was not allowed to shake Hitler's hand because of his race, this motivated him even more to go on and win three more finishing with the world record four gold medals in one Olympics meeting. This relates very closely to the main character Jay Zeamer in the book Lucky 666. Jay related to him because he was able to persevere through many challenges in his life, such as becoming a pilot when nobody said he could because of his eyes which he had a disability but he practiced and was able to become a pilot anyways even though everyone said he could not. Another reason these two relate are because of the time period when it takes place, which is right around World War two.

The book Unbroken is very similar to the book that I am reading which is called Lucky 666. This book is very similar to mine because it is for one centered in World War two. The picture tells the same exact story as my book, it is about a pilot that overcame many odds in their time being. For example in Unbroken a kid who did not have much as a kid ended up becoming an Olympic athlete, as in the book Lucky 666 the main character overcame a bad eye condition and had all the odds stacked against him to be a pilot, yet he still became a pilot in one of the most crucial wars for America. This book is also very similar because they both tell the tales of someone doing something great and being strong for their country, because they knew how important it was.

I choose this book for a couple of reasons, but the main reason was that in the past I only was able to have an interest in books that contained a lot of action and had a lot of war, along with fighting. I also chose this book because I knew someone else who was reading this book. Another reason I wanted to read it was because of the length, it isn't too short but it also isn't very long, and with the time that we were given I believe that I will be able to finish it in time.

How the cold war space race created corrupted thought
When John F. Kennedy gave the speech about the space race, about America battling with Russia in the race to space, which lead to going to the moon. This speech that Kennedy gave when he talked about how America would persevere and win the space race against Russia. Also in this speech there are moments that you could determined that he was talking about a possible war looming against Russia. This corrupted many Americans minds that they would need to prepare for war. The Cold War also was an era of building up militaries and during this time everyone thought that war was destined against Russia because of how they were beating us initially in the space race. The space race also created a lot of corruptive thought towards the fact that the space race meant nuclear bombs, because if you could send a space craft to the moon then you could send one across the country. The cold war was a very confusing time because everyone believed that it meant a possible world war 3 because of the constant building up of militaries, but really that was the corruption of the space race and building up materials which really was leading to just being empires and no war.

Politics appear a lot during the story of a modest proposal. In the story of this it shows that wealth is basically the key to power because the people with all the money control everything. This is shown in a modest proposal because it talks about how the rich eat the poor people of the world. They do this by taking away all of the jobs for them and by taking all the money away from them so they are always poor. This relates to the people in China because although they have jobs for the poor, the wealthy takes away all of the profit for them by making their minimum wage just a little over a dollar and 50 cents in us dollars. This takes away all the opportunities from them and forces them to always be in the poor class that never has any opportunities and are basically already dead as shown in a modest proposal. This shows that people with money will always be in charge and controls everything and will always have the power of those of the lower class with little to no money

As simple as that.
