bun's week-long pop culture spirit work exercise:
monday: create a playlist for a pop culture spirit. play it for them and write down any feelings, sensations, or events that emerge.
tuesday: look up their iconography and anything inspired by them. take notes, and see if you can make a sigil from what is significant to you.
wednesday: look at a list of their tropes. write ones that stand out to you down, and see how you can judge what they might reside over, their personality, try to conclude some information. if you need confirmation or validation, see if you can confirm with a form of divination.
thursday: write a prayer inspired by one of the songs, their iconography, or their tropes. say it (or think it) to them while imagining the sigil you made for them, and write down any feelings, sensations, or events that emerge.
friday: it's time for offerings! based on what you've figured out, use your best judgment for deciding what you think they'll like. you can use a perishable offering, a votive offering, devotional acts, whatever suits! write down anything you learn during.
saturday: do a reading with them. this will require a divination deck, a pendulum, charms or bones, a playlist, a book, or anything you're comfortable using to talk to them. take this as a conversation, rather than an interview - talk to them as you get your responses, and write down anything that you find out.
sunday: finally, it's time to write down a correspondence list or basic guide. write down anything of importance. i tend to write down information about them, concepts they reside over, signs and symbols, offering ideas, and devotional acts - but go bananas here! jot down what you think is important.
bonus ideas: hanging out with their energy, doing a spell inspired by them, doing a spell with them, the sky's the limit! you don't have to do any of these activities if you don't want to, but i just thought i'd shed some light into how i organise myself with spirits and organise my thoughts regarding them. have fun!

Seashells and Sea Glass in Witchcraft
Part One - Sea Glass
I used to live in Kodiak, Alaska, a small island off the south coast of the state. I lived on the Coast Guard military base, and my favorite place on the entire island to this day is Jewel Beach. It's a very small stretch of sand and pebble beach; the water is constantly freezing cold, and the wind is frigid all the time.
But one of the reasons that I loved it so much, other than the chilly weather (yes, I am a fan of the cold) is because Jewel Beach was littered in sea glass. All kinds of it! Giant shards, little beads: even rarer colors like purples and orange. I still have about 5 ounces of orange sea glass in a little bag somewhere, just because it makes me feel special to have found so much over the short year of living in Kodiak.
But Ander, why on earth does that even matter to your practice? I'm glad you asked! The answer is actually very simple. Sea glass is made with glass - which is made of sand.
Sand represents the element of earth. It is the very beginning of glass, the very first step
Glass is made with heat and sand - and so now, it's connected to the element of fire.
Sea glass is then created when broken pieces of glass are tumbled around on the ocean waves for years, so now it's also connected to the element of water.
Not only is sea glass connected to those elements alone, but different colors of sea glass can be used in different things corresponding to the color. They can be easily strung into beautiful jewelry for casual spiritual wear, and used as the representation for earth, fire, and water in various rituals when you may not want or cannot light candles or burn anything. It's also just incredibly beautiful, and easy to hold onto for its beauty.
All in all, sea glass is a really beautiful, simple thing to add to any spell that may require certain elements or colors. 10/10 do recommend. Blessed be, and good luck everyone!

Types of Witches series:  💦Sea Witches💦

Sea Witches are witches that mostly work with the ocean and its energy. You don’t need to be near an ocean to be a sea witch. Sea witches work with water (duh), salt, sea spirits, and anything with a water correspondence really.

Sea Magic : A Sea Witch bottle for Protection
Sea Magic is that which is practiced by the ocean, or using objects related to the ocean or coastline. It has been practiced for hundreds of years, as populations have always resided close by.
Tumblr media
The oceans have always been worshipped, feared, revered, and cherished; and many stories of ocean gods, goddesses, sea creatures, and mermaids have been passed down through the generations, adding to the mystery and magic of the Sea.
Today I am sharing a simple spell from Scott Cunningham’s Earth Power, which is used as a protective device.
Tumblr media
A SEA WITCH’S BOTTLE
Take a medium or large jar with a tight-fitting lid and a bag to the ocean very early in the morning, and preferably after High Tide.
Walk on the beach gathering small pieces of driftwood, shells, rocks, and any other natural object which has been thrown up onto the sand by the waves. When you have gathered several things, stop, sit on the beach, and spread them out before you. Please each item in the jar, and as you do repeat the following verse.
"Amulet of the sea which I have found, protective energy in you is bound."
When each piece is placed in the jar add a half-handful of sand and then fill with seawater. Tightly cap and take it home with you. On your property bury the bottle. As you place in the hole repeat the following.
"Waves on sand, the tides in motion; you are now a silent ocean. Avert all evil to the sea; this is my will, so mote it be."
Cover, and return the earth to a normal appearance. If you can’t bury the bottle bury it in a flowerpot instead. The jar will act as a protective device for the home and all those who reside in it.

The Magical Girl Guide to: Selkies
Tumblr media
So I made my kitsune guide and now I’m finally remaking one of my original posts on my old blog: my selkie guide. Whether you’re a sea witch or a practicing fae worker or even a casual folklorist, you’ve likely heard of selkies.
My hopes with this post is to give those interested in selkies a place to start their research on folklore and someone else’s UPG. So I’ll provide a mixture of the history surrounding selkies and then dive (pun intended) into my own personal experience working with selkies. As always, however, just use this post as a way to get your foot in the door, not the full extent of your research.
This is not an all-knowing expert article on selkies nor is my UPG the end all be all of knowledge on selkies, just my personal experiences.

Witchcraft and poetry are inseparable for me. What is a poem but a spell, every word woven with care and intention? A poem has the potential to craft new worlds, to open a portal into unseen realities, to rewild our hearts and souls. Poetry is spellcraft.

The Ultimate Deity Journal Guide
Similar to my grimoire guide, this is a guide on deity journals.
What Is A Deity Journal?
A deity journal is a journal dedicated to a deity. It’s filled with information, offerings, devotional pieces, etc. If you like journaling or can’t give other physical offerings (like food, libations, etc.), it’s one of the best offerings out there.
What Do I Use For It?
Usually deity journals are physical journals and notebooks. Binders and folders work as well. I have seen deity journals online, using things like Notion or Google Docs. Those are a little harder to format, but are great if you don’t have a notebook or aren’t a fan of physical journals.
So, What Do I Put In It?
Devotional Artwork
Devotional Playlists

“Humanity’s Sacrificial Lamb. Praise Be Prometheus. Bringer of Fire. Shame Of Olympus.”
Starting to actually figure out stuff from my Olympian story and decided I’m going to make Prometheus a much bigger part of it given I’m really inspired by his history with zeus. (According to my story they were friends in the early years before Zeus freed his brothers and defeated his father and eventually became lovers. But in the end Prometheus continually chose humanity over Zeus and it ripped them apart. On Prometheus’s side of things quite literally.
