First Chapter: The Broom
On a random rainy day, a blonde man was doing his job at his step-father's bakery. He was brooming around in the back room of the bakery while the parent was selling stuff and stuff
-"Hurry your ass up, Lynn! We don't have the whole day." the man screams at the boy from the front side.
-"I'm trying!!" He screams back "..Father." whispers in a pissed tone.
Lynn, in ignorance, turns his headphones on, trying to get rid of the bad mood.
He kept doing his thing a few minutes until he heard some crashing sounds from the front side of the bakery. Curious, he checks anyway. He knows that Li Jie (his step-father) is sometimes clumsy. He walks in the main side of the shop and seeing Li Jie on the ground, surrounded by three ninjas. Scared, Lynn, didn't know what to do.. But he took his heart between his teeth and the broom in his hands and screamed at them;
-"Hey, you! You have messed with the wrong shop!" the blonde says while shaking slightly from fear.
The ninjas start laughing as the boss of the group says;
-"Take care of the old man. I'll teach the kid some lessons..."
The ninja walks towards Lynn.. But he doesn't back up.
-"You're quite protective over your father, aren't you?" The ninja scoffs.
-"You won't leave unscatched!" Lynn says brave, holding his broom in his arms.
The ninja bends over from laughing.
-"Haha! How are you going to hurt me with tha-"
Lynn smashed the broom against his head unexpectedly.
-"You, piece of-.. *sighs* At least we wanted to leave this shop with you alive.. But I changed my mind now."
𝙁𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏‼️
The ninja dashes in rapidly, landing a punch into Lynn's face, leaving the boy confused aleardy and to regreting everything.
-"Hm. Weak." says the ninja.
-"Ugh.. You're lucky I haven't done my warm-up..." Lynn dashes unexpectedly to his opponent, trying to land a kick or two, missing both of them, but not so hard to be punished. The ninja tries to hit his chest, but Lynn stops the fist right on time. Both of them lookin at each other for a moment and then, the ninja uses his left leg to smash a hit directly to Lynn's right hip, putting him to the ground. From pain, he cannot stand as he leans on his back.
The ninja walks towards the fallen boy, with his feet right next to his head as he lifts one of them, ready to crush Lynn's head.
-"Hey, chief, you have to see this really quick" one of the ninjas calls him
-"Wait a moment-" responds the chief
-"It's urgent! Come aleardy!" says the other ninja
-"Ugh, whatever... I'll take care of you after.." Says to Lynn as he walks away.
-"Look, Hàorán! The grandpa did not gave up on the money so we took care of him.."
Li Jie was laying down, covered in blood, with no breath.
-"Well done. Both of you. I'm sure our Grandmaster will be satisfied..."
They're all facing the dead body, having their small chat
-"Why do we need so much money? Isn't the Lin Ku-" asks the other ninja but gets intrerupted by Hàorán.
-"That is not our business to know, Kotakari. We have better things to do..."
-"I understand..."
As they were talking, Lynn was getting closer to them in silence, and suddenly he grabbed one of them with the broom by its neck, dragging him back away.
-"Kotakari!"
-"Stay away, Mingzé! He knows the deal" Hàorán backs him up.
Lynn was trying to choke the ninja, but he broke the broom in half, creating a sharp edge as both of them backing away and circling around each other.
-"I will kill you for that. Just as we did with your father. And I will not hold back like my chief."
Lynn puts the broke broom away, gettin in his fighting stance ready to
FIGHT‼️
The ninja doesn't wait, running towards the blonde trying to land punches and kicks as Lynn dodges every of them, then being able to punish, giving the ninja a good kick to the ribs.
-"AH!! You- You fool..." says the ninja, holding his hurt area.
-"Is that your best?" Lynn responds confidently, but it didn't last long. He cannot be compared with a trained ninja.
Kotakari performed a classic Van Damme sweep attack, hitting Lynn's legs and putting him to ground as he gives the boy's face a hard punch, making him aleardy dizzy, and then another one and for the last... and uppercut, that threw him away, cracking at least two teeth.
Lynn was full of blood on his face, crying a bit, but he still got to get up, supporting himself by a table, where his broom was threw away. The ninja comes closer to him as Lynn grabs the half of the broom as he tries to hit him, but the ninja just backs away, but Lynn throws the broom right to his head
-"AGH! Okay, this is your last, breath!"
-"Shouldn't we help him?..." asks Mingzé.
-"Yes, we should."
Both Lynn and the ninja run at each other, but the blonde fell to his knees, sliding and grabbing the broom beneath the ninja and as soon as the ninja turns back to him, Lynn does the last step of this fight.
The room was left quiet, only Kotakari's breath that was slowling down and the beats of his heart that were fading away. were heard in the room. As Lynn breathes heavily as well, he backs away, letting the body fell on its face. It was pierced right throught the chest, taking the heart out the other side.
The other two ninjas look in shock, Mingze, sheding a tear, seeing his good.. best of the friends being killed in such embarassment, but before they could act, the sound of the police cars is heard, the assassins leaving in no second.
Lynn could just stare at the cadaver, falling to his knees and looking at his bloody hands "I-Is it my fault...? He tried to kill me, isn't it...?" his thoughts rushing down in his head, as the cops are taking him away. The voices, the sirens, everything sounds drowned.
They took him away, being sentenced to prison, without regards. The Chinese Rules weren't so sweet here. But Lynn did not said a thing when they were interogating him, so he was put behind the bars.
The two ninjas arrived at the temple, scared, they went to their Grandmaster, Hàorán kneeling down first as Mingzé sat behind him.
-"Grandmaster... With all my sincerity... I... I mean we.. Apologise for losing Kotakari.."
Hàorán speaks nervous, looking slightly back at Mingzé for emotional support.
-"Yes... There was this young man and if the police did not cam-"
-"I have heard enough." A deep, intimidating voice has intrerrupted Mingzé's sentence, the temple temperature lowering down instantly as the Grandmaster opened his mouth.
Both of the ninjas went shut instantly, the only thing that kept them warm was their anxiety and stressed emotions.
-"You. Three. Disciplined and superior skilled ninjas. One of my best pupils... Defetead by... A kid." The more the man spoke, the colder it got.
-"Grandmaster-" Hàorán tried to explain.
-"You speak only when I say." The man stands up off his 'throne' and gets closer to Hàorán.
-"The story you told me sounds like it was all your fault. Am I wrong?" He says as he puts a hand on the ninja's head. Mingzé watches in horror, scared.
-"No, Grandmaster...But, I was trying to.. Teach Kotakari.. To see his competence..." The ninja gets nervous.. more than that even.
-"I lost money. And a man because of your ineffectual strategy. I would have killed you right now if I wasn't lacking people."
The grip on his head gets slightly looser.
The man gulps and whispers.
-"I will never make the same mistake again..."
The Grandmaster suddenly grabs Hàorán head once again. Harder. Making him scream in agony and pain, only to finally freeze his whole head, turning it into a literal ice sculpture, then smashing it on the ground, breaking the head to pieces.
-"You will not make the same mistake anymore."
Mingzé witnessed his friend's headless body on the ground, the only thing he could do is to tear with his eyes and mouth wide open. He then looks up at the man, scared.
-"I hope you will not fail me as well. Isn't it, Mingzé?"
He just looks slowly down, not even breathing. He nods.
-"You may leave."
And so he does.
Moments after Mingzé left, another ninja came in. He took off his hood, and said with a deep voice. The russian accent adding intimidation to it.
-"You called-" The man looks around and sees the floor covered in blood. "what has happened here?"
-"Unimportant."
-"I see you took care of Hàorán's incapability... Yet, there was no reason to do so." He keeps a serious tone.
-"This is not why I brought you here. I need you to spy on Liu Kang. I am suspicious that he defeated my men. Maybe not, but someone that's close to him.."
-"I fear that's a risky task. Geras, his pupils can see me anytime, anywhere." The man overthinks the problem..
-"You are Lin Kuei. You have grown by my father's side as well. You can do it if you put some effort." Bi-Han gets slightly pissed off, trying to convince the man to do his task.
-"Yes, Grandmaster." The man nods.
-"Good. Get ready... Because this means war."
Second Chapter: Black Hair
There were voices talking, murmuring around, with a drowned effect. Everything was blury. Yet, he sat there, around the cops.
-"Are you hearing us, young man?" (mind you, they're talking in chinese rn) One of the cops asked, the boy remained silent.
-"Are you still there? Hey, you. Lynn!"
As he heard his name, he blinked twice and looked up at the cops.
-"Justified as guilty. 3 years. Murder..." Lynn speaks in a monotone voice. Almost scared to tell what actually happened to him.
-"You still haven't answered to one question of ours; Have you killed the old man?" One of the cops asked the boy.
And he stutters
-"I... I, I'm sorry..."
-"You're wasting precious time of mine. Rest behind your bars and we'll talk later."
And they dragged him, and throw him in there.
It's cold and dark. He is just laying on the ground, rolling up his body like a cat on a rainy day.
The cops were coming every 5 hours to give him food, yet, he refused all of it.
-"You gotta stop thinking like it's the end of the world, brother." Another prison says from the other cell that was facing Lynn's. "You gotta say 'eh, shit happens' and well.. Move on, you know?" the man says as he was eating his dinner.
-"I wish I could be like that.." Lynn responds dry.
-"Don't act like you've been here for years, boy. You haven't seen shit."
-"I hope I won't live long enough to see it. I have no reason to live at all..." Lynn turns his back, walking to his bed as it was late. He leans, facing the wall.
-"Goodnight, kiddo. Don't lose hope."
It's been a few minutes and Lynn still couldn't fall asleep.. But then, something reflects into the bricks of the wall... A warm light, that gets slowly brighter. He turns quickly and sees a humanoid figure appear in his cell.
-"What the..." Lynn asks curious
-"Lynn Dostoievski." The figure has spoken. It has a manly soft voice, and a calming tone.
-"Who-What are you? How do you know my name?... My real one?"
The light disappears, the man showing its true self, but only the eyes remained glowing.
-"I want you to come with me." The man hands his palm at the boy
-"No, first answer my question.. Are you here to kill me?"
-"I have brought no such things upon you. I am Lord Liu Kang. God of Fire. Protector of Earthrealm." The man says in a charming tone.
-"So.. You want to take me out of here... but where...?"
The God gives the man his hand.. And Lynn grabbed it.
-"Come. And you will be the best version of yourself..."
A wave of shiny particles surrounded them, then vanishing out of the cell.
They finally arrived.
Lynn, shocked, looks at the man and
-"What the- My God... You are a god! I don't even know, am I dreaming? Is this real?"
Liu Kang chuckles softly, then explaining to the man what's happening.
-"Right now, We are at the Wu Shi Academy. This is where the best warriors have trained, are training and will train. And so are you gonna be one."
Thought it was night, they were in a temple that had no walls, windows or doors, only the dragon-shaped pillars that held it togheter. The only light source was the moon, a warming campfire and the god's eyes.
-"This is an honor.. Lord Liu Kang." he dares to say his name "But why me?" he looks over "I have killed someone... I don't deserv-" Lynn gets emotional
-"You were trying to protect yourself and Li Jie. That's what real warriors do."
The god puts his hand on Lynn's shoulder.
"I brought you here... Because I know your roots and what you've been throught... So you can find your inner peace."
Lynn nods as he wipes his eye with his right arm.
-"I can't... I can't thank you enough."
Lynn says softly, Liu Kang smilling at him.
-"Now go rest, the monks will show your room."
There were two monks, each one holding a basket.
Lynn walks towards them and asks
-"What's in there...?"
The boy takes a peek inside, as he sees his stuff in there.
-"Those are my shoes! And my bracelets! My clothes! How?"
-"No need to worry, Lynn." Responds Liu Kang calmly.
He stopped caring about the clothes and everything, as he follows the monks, eager to go to sleep."
-"Tomorrow will be a long day"
Liu Kang sighs, going and sitting next to the fire, meditating.
The next day, everyone up.. Except for our boy, he was still dead asleep. Sleeping like a child, the sun was caressing his face throught the bamboo curtains, while laying on a nice and comfy bed. Even tho he has seen a lot these days... He feels safer. But.. He wasn't alone in his room.
-"Hey! I haven't seen you here before.."
A young man looks curious at Lynn, as he opened his eyes, he saw his face. In the moment, Lynn "jumps" a bit as he gains all his thoughts back.
-"Yeah... I'm new... Who are you?..." The blonde asks as he rubs the back of his head, his hair covering up his eyes.
-"I am Wang Yue! What about you?"
Yue asks curiously
-"I am Lynn." he chuchkles "Don't ask me about how I got here..."
-"Lynn... Nice to meet you! And that's quite a rare name. What does it mean?"
-"Well... I don't think it means anything.. Probably it means 'shithead' ahaha.." Lynn laughs nervous, trying to make a joke.
-"Aw, you don't have to say that! Your parents knew a reason to name you this way!" Yue kindly responds.
-"Yeah... My parents..."
Later on, the boys were called downstairs. In a few minutes, Lynn brushed his hair and teeth with the unstensils gave from the monks.
Outside, they were in a beautiful yard with cherry trees blooming, giving a cute pink aesthetic.
Lynn was aligned alongside 10 students, Wang Yue, standing next to him while their teacher spoke to them about today's trainings.
-"I want you all today to focus on your agility and flexibility. These two alongside strenght are crucial for combat. Do not forget that it also takes control and intelligence." The man makes a quick pause before looking at Lynn "Before we begin, let us meet our newest student; Lynn! Lynn, step forward." The man encourages the boy to present himself to the rest of the students.
Lynn takes a deep breath as he does so.
-"Hello, everyone." He bows to them and so do they "My name is Lynn... Lynn Dostoevski. And... I am very... very... Nice to meet you all.." With an awkward smile and tone, he tries to talk. He looks at the group, seeing everyone with a serious face, but the sun reflected into a student's white teeth right into Lynn's eyes. He looks at that guy... He was smilling slightly at Lynn as his long, straight black hair, tied up in a bun and half of it resting onto his shoulders attracted his attention.
Lynn shakes his head a bit and says at the teacher.
-"It's a pleasure to meet you, sir..."
-"Kung Lao. Without 'sir'. I am not that old yet." He chuckles, trying to lift up Lynn's confidence.
-"It's a pleasure to meet you, master Kung Lao." Lynn says respectfully.
-"Nice to meet you as well, Lynn. Welcome at the Wu Shi. Everyone with me! Lynn, you will go with Raiden. He will teach you the for now. When your skills improve, you will go with them." What Kung Lao said was in wind, Lynn turning his head for that student. "Lynn? Are we clear?" Again, Lynn blinks twice, confused, he still nods, pretending he heard everything.
-"Yes, master Kung Lao"
