“Oh um...” He stared down at his grocery bags and then looked back up at the stranger. “Hungry. Otherwise I wouldn’t be out here. Too cold.” At least he’s not passed out in the cold. That’s likely to happen the longer he stood out here though.

“Why are you out here in the cold?” He shot back with the same enthusiasm as a man who is... Very sleepy.

The sky has been dark for days now–at first it was ominous, bringing with it an anxious suspicion that something horrid was on its way. But time passed without incident, and it continues to do so. The darkness instead has brought a festival, and a myriad of fun things. Harmless. Surprising, but not unwelcome. 

It took a bit of coaxing (hardly any, really) to get Mika to come out and about with him. Kite is dressed for the weather, sporting layers of warm clothing. As they pass a skating rink, he feels the slight tug of Mika’s hand in his, a sign he has slowed to a stop to look. 

So Kite stops as well, standing comfortably close to his partner and idly watching the skaters. Only a moment passes before he feels Mika’s gaze upon him, and he knows what comes next. 

“My dearest Mika,” comes his answer to the question, mirroring sentiment all the while, “I would love to. I haven’t done it before either, so we can learn together.” 

He didn’t think Kite would decline the offer, it never crossed his mind, but he asked anyway and got the go ahead. Mika broke out into that trademark grin of his while he let his green gaze fall on the rink again. He learned best from observing so while he watched, he had to wonder how does one actually get in there? Get a hold of those shoes with the blades on them... Were they blades?

Then he followed where people went in to get said shoes, to get those put on and let onto the ice. His grin settled down into a content smile, figuring it out. He pointed to the little gate. “There we are. I look forward to it.” Mika didn’t get embarrassed however he felt better that Kite was here to also learn something with him. (Really? Something Kite doesn’t know? That actually surprised him!)

So he led his partner to the gate to get in, to get their shoes and sitting on the bench to figure these out.

It’s only been a couple days since everything went dark and Mika promising Kite he’ll try and be more active and awake instead of wanting to sink in bed under 8 blankets to sleep. It’s a promise he will hold by! But it means actually going out. Bundled in two sweaters and his draker coat for the warmth, they’d been wandering the sight of the festival. Mika actually enjoyed these! A lot of food and interesting things to partake in.

And then when they came across the skating rink, Mika just paused, watching the people already in there skating. They almost looked like they were gliding. That actually looks fun... He wanted to try that! With a side long stare at his partner, he brought his hand up to kiss his knuckles and smiled.

“My sunshine and the light of my life,” he started, his usual phrasing when he wanted to do something with Kite. “Would you like to go skating with me? I’ve never done that before but it looks fun.”

“But it’s not dragon! What am I gonna do with this lizard meat?” Eat it obviously. “I didn’t know lizards got big enough for three pounds of meat. Is this an alligator?”

“Oh man... That’s not dragon that’s a reptile.”

“Dragon is the most delicious thing in the sky! It tastes like nothing else other than dragon it’s my favorite food! I can give you such a long list of recipes and--” There he goes, running his mouth, recipe after recipe. What have you done....

"Hey uuuh can I get 3 pounds of fresh dragon mean, an engagement ring thats made to look like vines and flowers, a pretty house plant, a book about this place's nature, a really big holographic sweater and umm..." he stared at his other two white tickets. "That's it I guess."

“ D-Dray-gon meat?  Sir, if you don’t mind me asking, what is a dray-gon?  From what you are requesting, I can see they are edible  .  .  .  a-are they delicious?”

Its name is… fish. Kite thinks Mika can do better than that. “Fish isn’t much of a name,” he says idly. There’s no judgement in his voice at all, and he says nothing more on the matter–for now. 

“I presume you want to keep it,” he says, and it seems the fish also wants to be kept. Or why else would it still be here? “Though I don’t know much about… ice fish. It would probably like things meant for water fish, I’m sure. We ought to stop by a pet shop.”

“Oh... It’s not?” Mika then stared back at the fish. What would you name a fish? He couldn’t come up with anything but since Kite said that it wasn’t much of a name he guess he could see why. He simply wasn’t good with names.

“Yeah! I mean... They gave it to me and it follows me around so...” Pet ownership sounded difficult and beyond him. He’s just a humble draker after all! “Wanna go now or soon or um... Also Kite?” Now back onto his partner.

“What would you name a fish?”

“I don’t know! I didn’t expect to get one. Apparently it’s difficult.” He stared at the fish for a moment. “I’ve named it fish. What do you think I should do?” He asked, looking back at his partner, a bit puzzled. He’s never actually had a pet or whatever. He’d seen fish before but in ponds or fish tanks. The little guy looked like it was doing fine as is though.

Damn... Did he need to feed it?

“Hey yeah I can remember that. I could too! But Kite was literally a plant and I know for a fact plants and fire don’t mix well so I really didn’t.” Mika replied, smiling quite fondly. “Too bad for it though... I have to make fire by hand.”

Well, why Star Platinum was out getting the spice, Mika just set to actually working on the stew. Fifteen minutes was more than enough prep time to get the water boiling and the stock made. He just sat there waiting.
