Reflection and Evaluation
In the beginning, I want to study many issues, but this makes me very vague. So, it turns out that broader ideas sometimes make this module more unclear, but I believe these errors are the reason why I set this interesting thesis theme. In the learning process, I always have to reflect and find more information to support my point of view, so the effectiveness of reflection. For me, time is an important issue. In the following two weeks, I will allocate more time and effort to in this module. I am very grateful to the teacher for guiding me to understand and allowing me to focus on a clear direction, which makes me more aware of my interests and enables me to focus on research directions that require deepen. That let my future work bring considerable returns and development. I find that the personal opinions of this module are critical, and my ideas stimulate my creativity. In the process of studying, I was very nervous about my performance and had to recall the photo archives of the exhibitions I had studied and visited. Fortunately, I completed and submitted each summative course assessment. I also feel that I can meet all the learning outcomes of this unit, and I have received a positive response from my tutor. I like this learning process very much. I will complete this unit and the final thesis of the Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design (Hons).

13: Update Your Reflective Blog
I have used the online library resources provided by the University of Hertfordshire. I use keywords to find all the information and content resources.
In addition, I passed "THINK LIKE DA VINCI-500TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION", which inspired the idea of this essay, it can provide me with support resources. For my situation, the most challenging aspect of long format book research is that it takes too long. So I will focus on some academic articles. Since these materials are all academically published, they are also credible. So far, I have only discussed with the tutor what supports bibliographic research. Fortunately, I have received positive comments from the teacher, but I cannot loosen so far. For this essay, I will update my blog regularly to help me improve my thinking and critical skills, and continue to self-evaluate the blog.

11: Your Bibliographic Research
I am delighted to complete the essay title. Now, I found all the papers based on the essay title "How can an artistic point of view aid the technical development of contemporary architecture and interior design?" It is the last Critical and Cultural Studies L6: Degree Essay/Report for my university bachelor.
I have an outline and planning of the essay. Fig. 1 According to the early research on art and construction technology, the column design in Greek and Rome already contains artistic and structural elements. The column design in Rome is the main of architectural structures, and the column is full of decorative forms.

Fig. 1 Columns: Orders: Greek And Roman Comparison.
This situation also occurred during the Renaissance, such as Leonardo's original mechanical structure drawings; it inspires the combination of science, art and design. Fig.2 According to the THINK LIKE DA VINCI - 500TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION, Leonardo's artists conceived this structure from an artistic point of view.

Fig.2 My own work - DA VINCI's structure creation and drawing
Besides, Gothic the architecture and interior design of the church is decorated with some sculptures, these images are symbols of power.
Interestingly, the result of my research is that symbolic architecture and interior design in the world relates to force and value. It is not difficult to find that many countries hope to have this symbolic architecture and interior design as value and symbols of power.
Contemporary architects use artistic viewpoints as their initial inspiration, then carry out detailed designs and research, and attract investors. And then they will Develop or find various new technologies or finding material to help them design and build.
The above introduction can define that designers from Roman times to modern times use artistic thinking to stimulate creativity. The above information is only an introduction that explains the relationship between art and technology. I will focus on "How can an artistic point of view aid the technical development of contemporary architecture and interior design?" and will writing and analysis based on the essay title.
The following are the results of my 15 resource research.

The following is a critical analysis of research texts and images based on the relationship between previous research activities and my interests. My interest in "Art". When I was researching from "Contemporary Technology" studio module, I discovered the artistic sculptures of Frank Gehry Fig.1 and Zaha Hadid Fig.2; It turns out they are also artists. These discoveries inspire a question from me to "discuss the relationship between art and contemporary interior architecture and design".

Fig.1 An early sketch for a model study by Frank Gehry

Fig.2 Painting Of Zaha Hadid Architects
In the learning process, I need to ask two questions:
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these iconic contemporary buildings in the city?
Frank Gehry was speaking when he told the audience: "Architecture can be passionate. Buildings can evoke feelings just like paintings and sculpture, and I have tried to emulate the passion of that traditional heritage in architecture," (Glen, 1998). I research his sketches as artistic abstractions and particular curves composed of his architectural ideas (Boland, Collopy, Lyytinen and Yoo, 2020)

Fig.3 Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Since the opening of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao designed by Frank Gehry in 1997, buildings known for their complex geometry have developed in Europe and around the world. Computer-generated architecture with non-standard geometries are becoming more common, and more and more public and private properties require this design. In the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and China, iconic buildings with complex geometric shapes have built (Cardellicchio Kent, 2018).
Every country and region believe that these landmark contemporary architectures can claim their value and reputation. For example, the contemporary architecture museum attracts more tourists to promote tourism may benefit other industries. Besides, many difficulties in the construction of iconic architecture, and there are specific problems in terms of sustainability and practicality. For example, expensive construction costs, repairs, and maintenance are relatively costly. I will continue to study this issue in this direction.
Whether the idea of using an artistic perspective in architecture and interior design violates current practical and direct architectural concepts, furthermore measure the pros and cons of both.
Used art angle to create an abstract different curved shapes architecture, so many old architecture technologies may not be adopted. Thus, the builder and designer need an advanced computer and software to cooperate to achieve a result. When Frank Gehry began to prepare the sculpture "Barcelona Fish". The production team tried to use various curved shapes to make the correct size but encountered unsolvable problems; the team had to figure out how to make different curved shapes. So, the production team turned to the aviation manufacturer CATIA program. This item is completely using CATIA to build 3D modelling; this project created an example for Frank Gehry's company to use aviation for engineering and design (DEAN, n.d.).

Fig. 4 Frank Gehry, Fish sculpture, 3-D CATIA Model

Fig. 5 Jubilee Church
The structure of these iconic architecture has brought technological innovation, the use of new materials, the development of steel and wood. (Cardellicchio Kent, 2018). But these materials and technologies may bring some environmental, maintenance and waste of resources problem, such as the Jubilee Church designed by Richard Meier complete in 2003. The architecture construction method includes using composite material to construct the shell, in which precast concrete slabs cover the curved ribs of the steel frame. Due to material corrosion and decay caused by natural wind and rain, maintenance requires a lot of maintenance costs. (Cardellicchio Kent, 2018)

4: Setting Potential Themes for your Essay (Notes)
For this activity, I will consider my studio practice based on the contents of the previous studio practice, and write out the practice area that is attractive to me; I will list the topics below.
- Artists - Illustrators or designers - Artworks or artefacts - Exhibitions - Value - Technological applications - Culture - Environment - History - Postmodernist
The above list can generate some questions and methods that will inspire me as the subject of an essay on architecture and interior design.
The problem is that I have many exciting topics. I have learned to "sustainable design" through another module before. I look back at the previous studio practice, which is related to the environmentally friendly "high chair" of sustainable product design. The chair can follow the child's growth to adapt to the height of the chair so that it can long-lasting the life of the chair.
Another prominent theme is contemporary technology. According to my last blog, I said in the previous blog that the two architects who influenced me were Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadi. Their historical data can support my ideas, and the materials will include technology, artwork, artists, culture, history, postmodernism, and exhibitions.

4: Setting Potential Themes for your Essay (NOTES)
1: Do sustainable architecture and interior design that helps improve people the health of life in society?
The phrase "sustainable design" means that it can include ecology and the environment and can encompass a wide range to relate flexibility concepts and ideas also classify as "sustainable design".(Preston, 2006). Architect Gary Chang is a 32-square-meter apartment converted into a multi-functional house. He uses the sliding and folding concept to make both walls and furniture use the sliding and folding function to change the use of the room https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB2-2j9e4co (Dirksen, 2013). In the field of product design, the "high chair" designed by Maartje Steenkamp transforms the growth of children, the legs will change, the shape will also change, and the continually evolving children's changing needs. We found that the above two examples can also classify as sustainability. (Ela, 2014). Called "green design" is interchangeable to "sustainable design". This phrase refers to the continuous development of the industry in the field of architecture and interior design. In the implementation process, compression can also be called "environmentally sensitive design" or "eco-efficient design". "Sustainable design" and "green design" are words that many people call for and use (Preston, 2006).
Fig.1 Highchair by Maartje Steenkamp
According to the explanation (Preston, 2006), sustainable design refers to the efficient use of energy, land and other natural resources, limited resources and the establishment of connections or interdependencies between the environment and the natural environment. Strengthen community and improve people's health. Environmentally sensitive design is a consideration. Construction should be beneficial to the environment, and correct and valid ecological design is playing a role. The right products, services and systems reduce the occurrence of wrong things.

2: How the relationship between art and contemporary interior architecture and design?
Since the mid-19th century, architecture is an art that lays out and decorates buildings that people build to meet various needs. Therefore, the appearance of these buildings enhances mental health, gives appreciation value and brings joy to people.
Architecture is the art and is functional, and the history of architecture from time to time also has opinions to determine architectural terms and language. Architectural theory is a natural science which involves architectural details and natural laws. The nature of the building is part of the actual origin. It is necessary to consider the interrelationship with natural phenomena, regulations and rules. The principles of architectural art and natural environment are for human use and satisfy their needs and live in harmony with the environmental situation (Zayats and Murgul, 2016).
Contemporary architect Zaha Hadid uses painting to inspire her architectural concept, and it can indeed become an architecture. As can be seen from Fig. 1, Zaha Hadid uses various flat squares to draw abstract and fragmented ways to generate forms and spaces to conceive and express her imagination of conceptual architecture. The final structure is presenting in Fig. 2 the architecture was built in the year 1993, the German Vitra Fire Station.

3: Discuss technological applications to change the development of contemporary architecture and interior design.
If computers and software not have invented, contemporary designers could only use hand-paint drawing for working. Fortunately, today we have used computers and software to study and work. According to (Ayşe Yazıcıoğlu, 2020), if only wood, metal, glass and ceramics are still used as building materials today, this is a very backward thing. This concept is like using hand-painted homework techniques without a computer and software designer, that is unfortunate because, with the development of our times, many new materials have been using in architecture. Therefore, the application of technology may need to start in the field of education and keep pace with the times to change the development of contemporary architecture and interior design.
Today, rendering and 3D digital modelling in the architectural and interior design industries are indispensable. It can describe the overall effect of the project and all the details of the design. Generally, renderings and digital models can use to show the whole spaces and the final structure. However, the use of digital resources will also be affected by the software's functions, which will limit the creativity of designers and affect the flexibility of the design process. As a result, in the actual design, these digital resources are formed in the final plan and may not be better used to develop innovative concepts (Hui, 2018).

3: Starting a Reflective Blog
How do you generate and evaluate new ideas? Why there is a relationship between contemporary art and contemporary interior architecture and design has its advantages and disadvantages. I turned this topic into my university essay assessment. This topic was inspired me from another module. In the process, I have discovered controversial contemporary architecture and famous architects and designers. I evaluate this topic as a fascinating and meaningful discussion because this topic continues to occur and can help me as an industry practitioner bring benefits to my career and contribution. It is not difficult to find this information. So this topic is to bring many-sided benefit.
How are you influenced by other's works? I am very impressed by Frank Gehry's work; His works are unique and non-traditional. I like that he breaks the traditional design form, especially the Spain Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, this design is sharp and adventurous. The material is the use of limestone, glass and titanium. Titanium which has a reflection function; however, the titanium is a unique material that is so exciting, and it attracts a lot of people. But, there still have disadvantages such as it caused some technical problem. The reflection material hurts people eye on the street, and it also creates a temperature increase. His work is very controversial. So that is being very interested in his work, and it very attracts me.
What are your inspirational sources (such as books, exhibitions, conferences and images I have studied Frank Gehry's work during my high diploma interior design course. This time, I study Interior Architecture and Design bachelor degree course makes me in-deep know more about frank Gehry's works and career story. During the study period, I found a Deconstructivist Exhibition—the exhibition in 1988 at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Fig. 1 View into the exhibition
Besides, I have study Architect Zaha Hadid works which were an exhibition in Hong Kong; I have seen her paintings, which are related to inspire her architecture works. So, it proved that there is a deep relationship between art and architectures.

Fig. 2 Zaha Hadid to be Remembered With Exhibition in Venice
How do you evaluate them? Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid are top architecture and artist and designer. I think their sculpture work reflect their contemporary art philosophy and construction.
What are your methods of work? According to the learning path requirement, I need to create a personal Blog; I need to research the information and markdown on the Blog. It will include work and images to record my thoughts and ideas.
